I don't know, I hope so. Otherwise she is just toying with my emotions.

I withdrew at about 3pm earlier today, so if not you then the other guy took my spot. Congratulations. I wrestled with Stony Brook vs. VCU for a long time. You'll love VCU and love the people there.

I'm sure I will, VCU was my top choice and I got in.......yayayayayayayayaya good luck to everyone else waiting.😀😀😀😀😀😀:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

When y'all emailed, Dr. WHC, did you just send a brief email or was it more of an update letter? Thanks!

How were you able to talk directly to WHC? Can you PM me what you did?

I set up an appointment to mention an upcoming publication. It took ~9 weeks to fit me in lol. Tough lady to get a hold of

I just emailed her asking if she could give me an idea of where I was on the wait list- two succinct sentences. It wasn't an update letter, I don't know if we can send those? She's pretty good about emailing you back so definitely email her, just keep it short and simple. If you have an update, I would email her or admissions about that separately.

Emailed her this morning. I'll let you guys know how long it takes to get a response! Wonder how many desperate emails she's gotten today 😛

OOS Female 31Q 3.5gpa interviewed in Sept.

got a similar response:

"you are close, that being said we need to await the next couple weeks for the fall out of May15 to be sure. mwc"

Male, OOS, 29, 3.6 gpa, interviewed in Oct.

Yup, emailed her yesterday, "It's difficult to tell but we are headed in your direction. The out of state list is moving. mwc" Hope we all hear some good news soon.

I e-mailed her yesterday too, but never got a response. Perhaps it's because I'm instate or perhaps its the news is bad?

I emailed her yesterday and was told today that I am in the top 10%. (I'm OOS)

To the people that heard back from Dr MWC, would you guys mind posting your stats?

e-mailed her yesterday. I feel bad because she is probably getting dozens of these emails from us.

"We are getting very close to your rank. Next offers will be in a week or so. mwc"

OOS, 35Q, 3.52

I want to go here so bad!

Emailed her yesterday too and no response either. I'm also IS. Uh oh.

Just got a response, "VA list is approaching your rank."

what does this mean? what could it mean? arrggh.. i can't wait...

i think that means that the IS WL is approaching your rank! you're probably in a good spot.

I wanted to ask what the average debt was at VCU, and also if current students could give me a range of how much grant money they usually give? I know of one person who goes to MCV/VCU, and I think she gets like 2K a year? Just trying to see if that's on the low end or what?

30N, 4.0 gpa, lots of experience, non-traditional, weak point - applied super late 🙁

I e-mailed her yesterday and she said that the VA list wasn't moving as much but that I'm still in the running. Don't know where to take that. Haha.

Still haven't gotten a response. I'm thinking it's game over and she's just too nice to tell me.

They do take people off of the wait list depending on their race+gender in addition to being IS/OOS (I was told at some point during the application process).

Any IS Asian female withdrawing?

Btw I was on the top 5% of the WL, and then got selected on the 15th. So i think it is safe to assume that it is past that point by now

there are a lot of movements for OOS...but not much for IS...which really sucks.
i am not sure if there would be more movement after May or early June.

i wonder if the OOS list is longer than the IS or not....

Same here. I emailed her on Wednesday, and I never got a response either. IS

Keep the faith guys, even the IS waitlist is moving. I got my acceptance a few days ago. May be withdrawing, however, as I just got into EVMS off their waitlist and now am faced with a real difficult decision. Think I'm leaning towards EVMS at this point but we will see...IS male 31P, 3.6 gpa.

All I can say is just don't give up, your time will come. This was my second year applying and it took 5 separate waitlists to finally get the acceptance(s). Also the waitlists will move up through July/Aug although it will be slower by then. Ya never know what might happen...

Same here. I emailed her on Wednesday, and I never got a response either. IS

Had a dream last night where MWC told me that I was at the bottom of the IS and to try again next year...discouraging to say the least.

hey all. i withdraw my acceptance on may 14... i hope someone someone gets it ^_______^

Good news for those OOS. I will be relinquishing my spot in the class for a different school. OOS, CA male UC Berkeley 3.65, 32 MCAT.

thanks to velleity and SD applicant -- just got off the OOS WL!

Now I have to choose between two schools in a relatively short time. Money is a major concern for me. PLEASE will a current student or an incoming 2016'er PM me or just tell me how much financial aid in the form of scholarships/grants that they're getting? Like I said, my other choice school is slightly more expensive, but it offers no grant money. I've only heard that VCU gives out like $4k max, so in that case, money wouldn't make a difference btwn the two. IF, however, anyone has heard of VCU giving out more than 2-4K a year, then it would make a difference. I def. want to know, please anyone?

Accepted this evening 6:13 off the wait list via email to check status update!

IS female University of Kentucky 4.0gpa / 33 MCAT

Woo Hoo!

Congrats guys! OOS here still waiting. Hopefully there are still more acceptances to come this week...This is my top choice.

Congrats! I would call the financial aid offices of both schools (or just VCU I guess if the other school is not giving any aid) and ask them to estimate something based on past students with similar need as yours. I called the VCU financial aid office a while back to get some general information, what they told me was grants and scholarships are mostly done on a need basis. The loans you get are federal so you will get the same amount for that anywhere you go usually. If you demonstrate a lot of "need" than you may get more grant money than the average- which I am guessing is right around 2-4k. The other thing that the financial aid guy from VCU told me (his name was Harris if you end up calling and asking for him) was that the end of April was the priority deadline that students had to turn in the Need Access Form which they use to determine need for those institutional grants and scholarships. Students who are admitted after this date and haven't turned in the form, kind of have to work with what is left of that money if they qualify to receive any (so first come first serve type of deal). Good luck with the decision! I hope that somewhat helps.

got off OOS WL ytd too.. cGPA 3.49 MCAT 34p california asian

congrats to you all accepted. it looks like you all have mcat score of above 30.
im in-state, but my mcat is below 30. not sure if there is any hope for me.

hey, angel20, it looks like people with MCAT <30 are the ones in top >15%. I think they are still picking from students in top 10-15% of the waitlist. I am just guessing..

the bad thing about this year is that there is not a lot of movement - # of applicants have increased dramatically this year (based on what I was told). After first week of June, there won't be a whole lot of movements. People may withdraw here and there but not significantly. in-state list is barely moving, while OOS is the opposite simply b.c those that get into their in-state school would prefer the in-state tuition, as a result they withdraw and space opens up for the others on the OOS list.
Unfortunately those with MCAT score of less than 30 for in-state are in the bottom half of the list including myself.
At point, we just have to hope that more in-state applicants withdraw their applications.

I don't think it's so much the MCAT score. i spoke with Dr. cook yesterday and I was told that though my numbers were solid, my clinicals weren't up to par. It's reasonably accurate. I definitely did do some shadowing and ER volunteering and some international clinical volunteering, but my extracurricular focus as an undergraduate was definitely research.

I was 3.5/37R and in-state with extensive research, publication, and award. But still she said that I'm basically halfway down the wait list "Not in a bad place."

As much as I wanted to stay in state, I'm still fortunate to have gotten in elsewhere. Still, to those with borderline MCAT scores, I think you should be fine here if you've got solid clinical exposure to show your dedication.
