I just found a very strange thing, I login back to the secondary application and it shows the application status is 'not submitted' ?! Well, I submitted it weeks ago and received a 'secondary submitted' email as well. Does anyone have the same issue?

When I log back in it asks me to check a terms of use agreement. Then I get a * * Error: Invalid link syntax * * message. So I can't technically access my secondary anymore. Im sure if you got the secondary submitted email, it's in. I just don't know why the complete isn't sent. Do you think something is missing?

You might want to call the admissions office just to confirm they have received your secondary. I can still access my Georgetown secondaries from both this cycle (2012-2013) and last cycle (2011-2012).
 
To the guy above who submitted on 9/14 and is still not complete: I also submitted around the same time and was complete 4 days later. If you care that much about Georgetown, I would call the school and see if they have any explanation.

My response was certainly not calling your work ethic or experience into question, it was a comment on the way you seemed to oversimplify the issue. Your post seemed to ignore the different ways that debt can affect your career and personal life, that's all I was saying.

As far as the bolded statement goes, fair enough. If I am fortunate enough to garner an acceptance from Georgetown I would be beyond ecstatic!
 
Referencing letters of interest.....I have a situation where I am a resident in the southeast, but have applied to a few California schools. (Already rejected from UCSF, which was a reach.) I picked up on one site that most schools such as USC, UCLA and UCSD, really do not seriously consider many east coast applicants unless they receive an indication of interest such as an LOI.

Any thoughts?

It's free. Usually they just let people on. Occasionally they ask for an ID (any form of ID) so just have one with you. It's free for all students and anyone using the medical center, so if they ask just say you're going to the hospital. Most likely, you'll just walk on.

Just make sure you get on the GUTS shuttle and not the Metro bus which you would have to pay for. They both pick you up at the same spot.
 
Does anyone know when they will start sending out decisions after interviews?
 
For those sending a letter of intent, can you send then ore-interview or are they generally sent post-interview?

Also, did you guys email your LOI or did you use the update feature of the secondary application system? Or is that feature purely for updates only?

For Georgetown, the LOI is only useful if you're put in the competitive applicant pool (essentially the wait list). Georgetown notoriously wait lists many and accepts few right off the bat. A LOI will get you off the wait list and considered for review again.
 
Does anyone who interviewed here remember what the content and format of the essay we can write is supposed to be if we're wait listed? I thought it was supposed to be about why Georgetown and also what do you bring to Georgetown, but I'm reading that were supposed to just write why Georgetown. Also, thought it was supposed to be just a one page essay, but I'm also finding that its specifically supposed to be 3 paragraphs. Any one remember specifically what Ms. Sullivan said?
 
I'm interviewing at Georgetown soon, and I was wondering if anyone had any insight into the process. What was the interview like? What kind of questions did they ask? In one of my previous interviews at a different school, they gave you a map and you had to run around the city campus to find each of your interviewers on the fly. Does this school make you treasure hunt for your interviewers or is everything in one place? Thanks in advanced for your help.

Haha, definitely the treasure hunt. But don't worry, you'll have enough time so that even if you do get lost (I did), you'll still make it to your interview on time. The interview itself was VERY conversational. I literally just told my interviewer about myself, my family, my passions, why they're significant to me, why medicine, and why Georgetown--even though she never explicitly asked why Georgetown.

Yes, it's supposed to be a "why Georgetown" essay, but that should encompass both why you would be an asset to the institution and why you would benefit the most from receiving your education there. I do not recall Ms. Sullivan stating strict word/paragraph limits for the letter, although it's always best to keep things as simple as possible, but not simpler. 🙂

Yours was a treasure hunt? On our interview day, we all sat in "the fishbowl" and our interviewers came to pick us up and walk us to the interview rooms, which were only ~50 feet away. That said, finding the building in the morning was a bit tough. 🙂

And I do agree, all the interviews seemed to be quite conversational. I interviewed with a fourth year med student and we mostly just had fun talking about different things. I was only asked one pointed question, and that was about professionalism in medicine. Mostly, be ready to succinctly tell your story and explain why you'd like to go to Georgetown.

I was sent over the the hospital with a makeshift map. I got a little lost, but it was no big deal.

Haha, mine was a treasure hunt too- out of all the students, myself and one other person were handed a map and told to go find our interviewers while everyone else got picked up in the fishbowl! But aside from that, the interview was really easy and relaxed. My interviewer did bring up health care reform and asked an ethical question (what would you do if you gave a patient the wrong medication and it had an adverse effect) but neither was asked in a confrontational way and he seemed to enjoy listening to my answers and adding his own thoughts rather than acting like there was a wrong/right answer. Everything else was just a conversation on why medicine/why georgetown and life in general (we talked about his daughter going to school in the same city as me, talked about where I grew up, where he grew up etc).

I had a similar experience: our interviewers came to get us, so there was no effort required on our part.

Agreed. Well, maybe not easy but certainly relaxed. My interviewer was an MS4 and the first thing he said to me was, "No need to be on edge, I'm not a big time faculty member or anything so you can just relax." Most of the questions he asked were tailored to my application (research activities, about my hometown, shadowing experiences) and any pointed questions were about the philosophy of Georgetown. It seems like it should go without saying, but know what cura personalis means, not only to the institution but to you.

Basically once during the month and once at the end... i think it was 2nd Thursday and last Thursday of every month but, i can't quite remember exactly
 
soooo are we waiting till Wed to hear back..... possibly!?... like last cycle
 
When I interviewed ms. Sullivan said we'd find out on oct 15. But who knows
 
Interview invite today! So excited!! I was complete 9/10. The earliest interview date available was January 7th! :wow:
But I guess it makes sense given how many people they interview every cycle... It's great that the interview groups are small and people get to know each other on interview day. 😀😀😀 Can't wait!!
 
This school is still being obnoxiously silent to me. Complete 7/30. Sent a letter of interest a few weeks ago. Called yesterday to see if they got it, they were just like, "Yep." I dunno why they seem so hell-bent on ignoring me. At least reject me if you don't want me. 😕
 
Woo! II today (well, 10/16). Secondary submitted on 7/24. Complete on 7/26. OOS, 29Q, 3.78 (AMCAS), also at GU for my Master's in Biochem & Molecular Bio.

The next available interview session I can register for is January 22. Oo; Is that correct?

Another reason SDN is the best and worst thing to find during the application cycle. Keeps me from doing something rash, but the paranoia, oh the paranoia!

Crossing my fingers for news! Like now, or soon like....2 hours from now....

In the last application cycle the first decisions went out by email on October 19th. Obviously there will probably be some variation from 2011/12 given the changes to the application process, but we may hear as early as Friday (this is completely my own opinion based on observation, I haven't talked to any of the admissions staff). Applicants who heard on the first day last year had interviewed before the second week of September.

Personally I am not expecting to get an outright acceptance. Historically it seems that applicants with numbers similar to mine get wait listed.

See, and I was thinking we'd hear today since the first acceptances went out on a Wednesday last year. Anybody wanna call admissions to check either of these theories? :meanie:

Well, I don't know if this will make class any easier, but I've basically given up on today since I'm pretty sure Georgetown sends out their acceptances early in the morning. Last year when I interviewed/was CAP'd, the online status page was updated at midnight EST before the decisions came out at like 6am via email. They basically add a link that you click to view the letter with your decision. So I've given up hope every day that the decisions don't go up the night before... Although I guess there's no guarantee that they'll do things the same way this year!

On a side note, when I read "CAP'd" I automatically thought that you suited up for the US men's soccer team last year... then realized that Georgetown calls their wait-list the "competitive applicant pool". I must admit I was very excited for a short moment.

:laugh: I mean, it's a possibility! I don't know how kindly they take to having non-athletic females on their team though.

Regardless, I hope we all hear something soon to calm our frantic nerves!
 
Still no interview for me, complete 9/10, come on georgetown med school!
