I just called. They said alternate would be on the page only, no email. They saving money...

And of course, don't send anything to them until april/may and ONLY if it is different from your current application.

Any news for you?

🙁

Thanks for posting this. I'm alternate listed as well, and am mentally preparing myself for a whole lot of waiting and disappointment. I wish there was more information about how their alternate list works... I've searched and haven't really found anything.

welcome to the club... i hear they accept 1/3 from interviews and 2/3 go straight to waitlist... very very very few straight rejections post-interview 🙁 so there's a crapton on the waitlist.

Fellow anteater here. Pretty bummed out to learn I got put on the alternate list. I remember Dr. Peterson saying in the December 10 interview that this is not really a great list to be on. Really wanted to stay at UCI, but now the dream seems to be fleeting away. 🙁

... Well that's especially true if the fact that they accept 1/3 straight from interviews (roughly 160-180 students) and 2/3 go to waitlist... With a class size of 100, we alternate waitlisters need at least 60-80, if not more, students to drop acceptances if we want to see decent movement. It also means the waitlist is composed of nearly 300 students, if they didn't reject anyone post-interview...

Hey,do you mind expanding on the mandatory class + monday tests? Do you know how much class time there is, what it consists of, and how much of the pre-clinical years consist of Monday tests? Because those seem like some pretty big negatives 🙁

From the students I talked to, mandatory attendance started with this year's MS1 class - it's required to attend 80% of the lectures. They take attendance by having students log on and answering some multiple choice questions throughout lectures.

When are they done sending out invites? It seems like they have filled out their April spots already...?

No idea
I was complete since 10/18
Status still under review
Starting to feel it's a silent rejection at this point

Can anyone share when the remaining interview dates are? I know there's 4/24 and (I think) 4/1, but what are the February and March dates? Thanks!

not sure what the exact dates are... but they interview every two weeks. last two dates were 1/14, 1/28, etc.

Rejected via status page yesterday. Complete since end of July. Took them awhile I guess to finally pull the trigger...

I remember Dr. Peterson saying a post interview status will be updated online within 6 weeks. This has to be the absolute longest 6 weeks of my life.

Ah I know! When did you interview? From this thread the last interview group to report their post-interview decisions was the 12/10 group! & it looks like the last acceptance was reported from the 11/15 interview group. :scared: I know this is a small sample size but it would be nice to hear about some more people being accepted later into the interview cycle! Have any later December or January interviewees been accepted or alternate listed?

Okk good to hear. I interviewed after you and haven't heard yet and every time my phone rings my heart jumps. Now I will know to just forget about it for a while so I can relax. Good luck with your wait :luck: & keep us updated!

Make sure you guys are checking the status page. A few friends from 12/10 have already heard back.

When did you interview?

Never mind, looks like you already said Dec. 10th. Does anyone know if any interview groups after Dec 10th have heard back?

Can any current students comment on the curriculum? Im a little concerned it's not organ-based. Or is it? How do you like the traditional curriculum? Do you feel prepared for step 1?

Just got the call!!! And its my birthday!!! So psyched!!! Good luck everybody!!!

Got the call today too!!!! SOOOO beyond excited and relieved!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ditto =) Interviewed Jan. 3, great way to end Dragon year. Funny thing is that during the pre-interview dinner at Gina's Pizza, as were arranging the tables outside, I couldn't help noticing the longitudinal pattern resemblance to a snake. The longer the merrier. Happy Snake Year!

Also, to those accepted today do you have a status change on the website? Mine doesn't say accepted yet. Maybe it will just change when they send us our acceptance letter, which Dr. Peterson said would be on Monday. Ahh! I guess I'm just still in disbelief and I want to see it in front of me before I can fully believe it 🙂 Congrats to everyone accepted & good luck to everyone still waiting to hear back!

Can any current student comment on the dual MD/MBA program and ipad-integrated curriculum. Also, any MS3 and MS4s are welcome to chime in on their impressions of the the clinical training and the length at which faculty, staff, and advisors will go to help you prepare for residency applications, interviews, and the matching process. Much appreciated.

Also, here's a website detailing statistics that otherwise would be exclusive to those willing to fork out money to pay the hefty price tag affixed on US news. 🙄

No status change for me yet either. Looking forward to the letter! Congrats and see you in the fall!!!

Congrats to all the recent acceptances! 🙂

It's traditional. First year is normal physiology/anatomy, second year is abnormal (pathology/pharmacology). Can't say if it's better or worse than systems-based, since it's all I know.

Can any current student comment on the dual MD/MBA program and ipad-integrated curriculum.

You're given all the required textbooks for the curriculum for free on the ipad (they're either interactive versions of the text, or PDF copies). The ipads are awesome to take notes with. I bought a keyboard for mine so I can both type and draw on the screen. The school also gives you other useful apps for free (such as iAnnotate to take notes, anatomy apps, flashcard apps, etc). They're pretty open to buying the entire class an app if you show them how useful it is. You can also get access to the electronic medical records from UCIMC on the ipad as well.

I'm interested in making apps and I heard about last year's Med App Jam. Do you know if the Med App Jam will happen again?

I was thinking the same thing. Will probably be in the letter right?

Yeah. I guess I expected an email today, but maybe they're actually sending out hard copy acceptance letters via snail mail.

Did UCI send any other pre-interview applicants a financial aid verification email? And they want official documentation before May... but I haven't even received an interview yet...

+1 In exactly the same situation. I'm planning to wait until April 1st since that's when they'll give us a final decision on interview status.

sooo I interviewed mid-January - been checking my phone/status like mad since last week :/

Relax for a while. Us January 3rd interviewees just heard back on Saturday. As hard as it is, try to relax and forget about it for a couple of weeks! :luck:

Does anyone know if they're still sending out interview invites, or have they filled up most of the spots already?
