I had put down my home address, so I'm just annoying the hell out of my parents asking them to check the mail. They didn't check the mail until 8pm today, are they trying to give me an ulcer?!

But seriously. I really hope we all get in. It would be amazing to get that first acceptance. :xf:

I think it's just that no one wants to assume they've been accepted until they actually get the fat packet, just in case things aren't as we've been told. Which is a smart approach. I think it could possibly mean the waiting list only because UIC 1) interviews more people than those to whom it sends acceptances, and 2) sends more acceptances than they have seats. So, based on a previous cycle's conversations, if UIC interviews some 800 people (according to what others have seen on the MSAR for UIC COM), it would typically send about 600 acceptances while it only actually seats 300 individuals per entering class. This means that around 200 people are waitlisted or rejected outright.

I also told my family, so I'm in the same situation - if it doesn't turn out the way I think/hope it will, then it could be a tad problematic 😛

Did you interview? You might want to follow up or check back with the admissions office about this - they've been known to be a little out of it in the past.

Hey ecthelion,

I got that "Additional Correspondence" tab for UIC. I was also accepted at Rosalind Franklin. Since UIC is one of my top choices, I haven't been to other schools for interviews. I am still waiting for Rush II nonetheless. :xf:

Any current students have any comments on the MD/PhD program at UIC? My interview's in December!
 
Just double checking but does applicant in progress mean I'm complete?

I have a small, yet significant update.

My grandparents [I'm using their address as a permanent address] just called me saying that they received a big and bulky packet from UIC. I still don't have that packet in my hands, but it sounds like it's the "Fat Packet" we all have been eagerly waiting for. So I am keeping my fingers crossed hoping that it is what I think it is.

Hopefully you guys will also get that "Precious Packet" in a day or so. 🙂

Where do your grandparents live? I'm assuming you had the additional correspondence tab?

Finally, I have that packet in my hands right now. It is that precious "Fat Packet"; and I AM feeling on top of the world! lol

I had that "Additional Correspondence" tab. And it looks like that flow chart from 2009 seems right and to the point. So people with that tab have every right to believe that they will be getting a packet very soon! 😉

My grandparents and my family live very close together. And yes, we live in Chicago. So that might be the reason why I got that packet this early [within a week or so].

Hopefully you will be getting that packet very soon too! 👍

Congrats bro! So happy for you! I still remember the exact time and moment when I received my big fat packet 4 years ago in sub zero temperature. I had to wait outside for mailman as I didn't have key for mailbox where I was living at that time.

I still feel like we're either over-analyzing their system or is their is a flaw because I was complete on October 16th and changed to "applicant in process" on October 18th. So I don't understand why you guys had to wait so long... a bit confused on their system. 😕

They basically said that it's either under review or waiting for review, and that they have tons of apps to review. She said that before it was taking 4-6 weeks, and now it's taking 6-8 weeks or longer. I felt like she threw in the 'or longer' after realizing that for me it's been ~12 weeks 😛...anyway, she was nice about it and I just hope to see some movement on my application soon! UIC would be a great option for me!

It must have been an unforgettable experience of waiting patiently outside in bone chilling weather for the packet! After all, patience is a great virtue! 😉

I called today as well, and they said the exact same thing to me. I've been complete for ~12 weeks also. I really hope our status starts moving soon...
 
I was complete end of August/beginning of September and my status changed from application in process to applicant in process within the last couple days
 
Just checked my status and I have a big grid of interview slots available, but it doesn't say anything or give any dates? Am I supposed to call? Haha
 
Congrats on the IIs/acceptances guys! As Visionary mentioned earlier, feel free to post any questions here or PM one of us who attend UIC and we'd be happy to answer any questions. There are a couple of M1s here, I'm an M2, and Visionary is an M3, so you can get a picture of the first 3 years here.

To the post above mine, I'd just call and figure out the interview dates. I think that's what I did when I got the invite.
 
I just called. There are only 8 slots left on one day in Peoria, and of course I have another interview that day. She said to call back/stalk the status page because when those full up they will release more.

So excited! Finally some love from my state school 🙂

I'll just repeat my post from earlier. I was complete mid-September and didn't get an interview invite until the end of January, so don't lose hope! I got the applicant in process about two weeks before I got the invite. Interviewed end of February and got accepted outright end of March.


Oh, also, I'm an M1. I think I forgot to mention that earlier.

For anyone it helps - I submitted 7/24, had my letters marked complete 8/3, was 'Application is in Process' from 8/3-10/18, when I then changed to 'Applicant in Process.' I received the II today - exactly 2 weeks later. You can see my stats on my MDApps!
 
Just received II email. Looks like I'm interviewing in Peoria 😀
I was complete mid-July. Had the "Application in Process" status for a pretty long time. I called early last week, and was told to wait for about two more weeks.
Then my status changed to "Applicant in Process" last Thursday.

So I just got my II (on my birthday, no less!) but am a bit confused. The email says you can check the dates under where you check your status, but I'm not sure where to do this. When I log into the secondary, under the "Supplemental App Status" tab it doesn't have any dates that I can see. Feeling dense because I can't figure this out quickly, help! Otherwise I'm just going to call tomorrow morning and do it live.

I never checked the website. I interviewed in September. I was admitted in late April.

It was horrible.

I don't remember exactly how long I had the different statuses. I finished all my applications pretty early in the season though (the latest ones were done by the first week of August and the UIC one was done waaay before then). I got an II pretty early (early September-ish) and interviewed in Chicago the first week of October. I didn't hear back from UIC during the first round of acceptances (in October) but, luckily, got accepted during the November round. I have no clue what changed between that one month for them to decide to accept me.

I submitted AMCAS 6/1 or 6/2 don't remember
had everything into and complete @ UIC around 1st week of august
interview invite last week aug/1st week sept
interview last week sept
accept last week oct

you can PM for my stats, but in general UIC is exactly how it sounds from us and the previous threads; don't let applying get to you
 
C'mon UIC... release more interview dates!!!

EDIT: they just did! Grab em, SDNers! I'll be at Chicago on 12/10 🙂
