Waitlisted. Sucks, sucks, sucks.... I've grown extremely frustrated with this process. I can just imagine there being one doc who just wants to hold out on my app because of a silly score. lol, Don't know if I can continue to make the sacrifices in order to pursue this career, nor how much more I need to do in order to convince all members that I'm worthy of obtaining a higher education. 😕
it is pretty laid back. I personally think if you can easily carry on a normal conversation and answer questions honestly that it is nothing to get stressed out about.Hi guys, I am going to try to apply this coming cycle and one of the things that is scaring me right now is the interview. Can someone PM me what the interview was like? This is my first time applying to med school and I have never had any interview experiences. Thanks.

I don't think it's your scores. I had very similar scores as you, but maybe you could speak with Gigi to see what you could have done differently? I hope you make it in!! Good luck!

Our school has students that interview write down how the interview went and what questions are asked. I went through all of these and collected the questions from the last three years for UNMC:
Most common gestion was tells us about yourself. (I did not get this question directly but he did ask ALOT about where I grew up and what I have done in my life)
What will you have trouble adjusting to in medical school?
Why Medicine? (I only had a few minutes for this one)
What did you do in college?
Describe your clinical experience?
What did you do this summer?
What are some challenges you've overcome?
How have you exposed yourself to Medicine?
What will be the hardest thing about the transition from UNK to UNMC?
Why UNMC?
What do you want written on you tombstone?
Was asked if would like to stay in Nebraska and what specialties interest me.
What is &biggest pet peeve?
Is there anything we need to know about your application?
If we would ask someone from your campus to describe you, what would they say?
What makes you stick out among the other applicants?
Most memorable patient while shadowing?
Volunteer activities?
Most negative experience (shadowing or otherwise)?
Any problems with grades or MCAT?
...wanted to check in to see how people were doing with their UNMC apps...
What happened to MelissaThompson?
Still haven't heard back.
I have no idea what happened to MelissaThompson. All I know is that her account was on hold and then she was banned.
I haven't heard back yet either. I interviewed early October and from the conversations I've had with the Admissions Office, they review applications randomly. I also had to apply for IS status which was approved.
Does anyone know how many committee meetings they have left and if you are rejected do they inform you at that time or do they wait until after all reviews have been made?
Also, I have no clue what happened to MelissaThompson.
I also interviewed October 5th, but was accepted in January so it truly is a random process by all accountsI'm in the same boat. I interviewed Oct. 5th and still have not heard anything. Gigi told me the same thing about it being randomly decided. I was told that the last of the decisions should be sent out by the first week if March.
I also interviewed October 5th, but was accepted in January so it truly is a random process by all accounts
Hey guys, quick question here about the interview. What did you guys wear to the interview? Did you guys go with a suit or just dress shirt and tie? Thanks.

Rejected. Good luck to everyone still in the run. I'll be back next cycle.
Anyone else still waiting to hear?
Did you just get the letter today? Still waiting for something here ha
Does anybody know if there is a difference between wait listed and alternate?
You can submit your app, you just have to list that you're taking the MCAT
Hey kstate thanks for your help. I'm a first time applicant so there is a lot of stuff that I am not sure of about the verification process. AMCAS verifies your app after you submit it right? Can I have my personal statement in after I submit the app or does it have to be sent it with the app? I think my main concern now is that if I take the May 18th date, I will not be as prepared but if I take the June 20th date I will be late and be at an disadvantage. Did anyone who got in submit their app kinda late? Thanks again.
Hey - I would recommend that you read about the application process on the AAMC website. There is too much information that can't be clarified via SDN. It really helped me to know the background stuff. There are only one part of your application that you can change once you submit - your letter of recs. The rest - you have to submit them all at once. I recommend getting your app, transcripts in on the first day possible and not have to worry about them during the process.
In terms of the MCAT- June 20th is completely fine. But anything past July, you are pushing it.
Advice: start taking practice tests starting today. Not even kidding.
Hey MDclassof2017, thanks for giving me advice again. My problem with getting the apps in the first day is that I don't have a personal statement yet. My original plan was to take the May 30th test, spend a month writing the personal statement and by the time I'm done, the scores will be back too and I can submit my app altogether. After doing some searching it seems like June 20th date is ok because if I submit the app on June 30th (after getting my scores), it won't even get verified until late July. That's almost the same as taking the test in June and getting the scores back in July, but I have more time to study and I can work on the personal statement during that time and try to get it verified before all that. I think that's what you were trying to say too. Thanks.
Did you just get the letter today? Still waiting for something here ha
From the letter that I received, it sounds like the same thing.
