Any recent interviewees ask about how many have been accepted so far?

You're talking about Group Learning, with the removable white board walls. A lot of people study there but the rooms fill up fast. The med school library is ok, but I don't like it because there's not much space, it's either too cold or too hot for me, and it smells weird. Your other option is the undergrad library on the other side of campus. It's open 24/5 and has a Starbucks that's open 24/5 too, but it's full of undergrads. There are not really any open classrooms after hours. We are definitely pressed for space, so a lot of people study at home or at a Starbucks near their house.
I love USF, but my one concern is the huge lack of study spaces. However, USF is very receptive to student feedback, and they have been discussing possible solutions for more space, especially as the MS2s are beginning to study for Step 1. Hopefully they will find a solution soon!

Thank you for all the input!
Is the upstairs of the library pretty quiet for independent study?
I've seen a lot of small group study areas at other schools, I was hoping USF would have somethign similar because I really love the program! I just want to make sure I'll have resources for group and independent study.
Does anyone know what the new building is going to be for/ when they are going to begin construction?

Question for those who attended the dinner at Jason's Deli for SELECT previously, did you find it valuable?

I'm debating whether to attend. I'm flying back from Korea for this interview and I was going to go out to eat with my parents that evening as I haven't seen them in a couple months. Also, I'm staying with them and they live about an hour away from the campus.

If you go, you'll see me behind the prep line! 😀 I may be a little biased because I work there, but I think we have good food for the price. From what I've heard, the dinner is nice to meet the other applicants and talk about the interview day with 1st and 2nd year students. But I would say you should go out with your parents instead. Maybe that would calm your nerves a little more? 🙂

My boyfriend applied here in November and hasn't heard on things. Has a 3.6 GPA and 32 MCAT. He is super nervous because he has not heard anything from USF and doesn't know how to check to see his application status because everyone's told him not to call schools that's not something they like. Are there still chances for interviews?

I don't think your boyfriend should start to worry yet. He has good stats and there is still plenty of time left to get an II.

I asked a second year the same thing since my application was in November. He told me that his interview was early March, so your boyfriend and I still have some time. 🙂

I came from UF, that has like what? 9 libraries? plus tons of empty classrooms, restaurants, and student centers with ample study space. Needless to say I had to adjust to the study space at USF, so I understand. The second floor of the med school library is a quiet area with desks and tables, it just gets a little crowded close to exam time. (Note: it's not just the "med student" library, it's for the DPT, nursing, pharm, masters, public health students, etc. too). There's a newer room addition off to the side on the first floor that has quiet space too. I've also heard there's random empty rooms in the nursing building after hours for studying. I have yet to find them though.
I honestly have no idea when they're going to be doing any construction or what for specifically, so sorry I'm not much help with that.

Does anyone know if there is a Facebook group for accepted class of 2017 students?

Just created the Facebook Group for USF Morsani COM 2017. Congrats to those accepted!! And good luck to those who are interviewing or still waiting to hear anything.

Here's the link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/316132018506988/

Non-USF students should be able to add now. Sorry if you couldn't before. 🙂

I just got invited to a SELECT interview but it is in Allentown and I live in Orlando.. are all of those interviews in Allentown and can I not interview in Tampa? Also, does the SELECT program mean you aren't considered for the CORE program? Do some people get interviews to both? I'm confused.

Hmmm.... My SELECT interview is in Tampa, FL. Maybe they alternate the locations?

I would try to request a SELECT interview in Florida.

I asked them about the CORE as well. I think they are completely separate interview processes. I have not received an invite for the CORE either.

I think this would be a good question to ask the office of admissions. Especially since they offer interviews in Tampa for that program.

hi all so i've been lurking on this thread for quite some time. anyway, i interviewed for select in late november and still haven't heard anything back from the admissions office yet. does anyone know how long the turnaround for select is usually and how do they contact you? i'm slowly losing my sanity...

Interviewed for SELECT in PA on 11/14
Waitlisted 1/28/13 via snail mail

New Morsani college of medicine building. They are using the money (20 million?) the Morsani family gave to the college of medicine. I don't think the incoming class of students will be able to utilize it as they will be in their clinical years by the time it is finished (this is assuming they start building soon, I haven't seen them break ground on the site whenever I drive by).

Just got the acceptance call! interviewed 1/14 for SELECT

This is incredible!!!😀

ACCEPTED THIS MORNING 😍😍
Interviewed on 1/15
Does anyone remember when Mr. Perez said the 2nd look date was? I believe he said April 12th. That's the same date as UM so I'm really hoping I'm remembering incorrectly.

Nooo I'm currently debating between the two. Congrats on your acceptance!

I KNOW! I'm really hoping I'm wrong about this though because I love both schools and I have a UF interview tomorrow. Those are my top 3 and it's been a constant back and forth for me.
Maybe I have one of the dates wrong :xf:

Core btw

for people getting calls: do they call from a restricted number? because i've missed two restricted calls this week..of course it might just be spam and i'm getting my hopes up for nothing

They didn't have a definite date, but that was what they were thinking... IIRC

Does anyone know if USF is still sending out interview invites? I feel like it's getting late in the cycle.

I was invited on 2/1 to interview for select but withdrew, so hopefully that helps!

Could anyone comment on the financial aid situation at USF? Are there many scholarships given to OOS students? When would one find out if they have received any aid? Thanks for any help.

+1 but for SELECT students (both IS and OOS)?

I think I read a current student say that scholarships are limited due to the fact that USF is a state school and state schools are strapped for cash.

I have an interview at the end of February here. Am I interviewing for a spot on the wait list or do they hand out acceptances at this point as well?

They told us at a recent interview that no one was interviewing for just the waitlist. I'd assume the same would apply in a couple weeks

They called one of my alternate numbers, but I live in Korea so I tried to call them back via skype at 5:30 PM (7:30 AM my time). No answer!... Now I have the agonizing wait till the office opens tomorrow. They don't call for waitlists right? 🙂

Interview invite! I gave up on them. I was complete Nov 5 with 32/3.9
definitely attending and try to remain oblivious to how late it is.

When is it for? I was complete the 7th hopefully I'll get one too!
