Does anyone know how long it takes from going under review to receiving an II?

Any II lately? I submitted my secondary mid-December, wasn't under review until January 15th (I guess because they were on break? My LOR have been in AMCAS for months so it's not like they were waiting for anything else), and am worried that it's too late, even though I am a good fit for FSU.

OOS applicant but moving to Florida after graduation. (family moving there to home we have had for years) My immediate and extended family will all be in Florida and I will no longer have any ties to my home state. Anyone have any insight on the likelihood of FSU considering my upcoming change of permanent residence in considering me for an interview. I really want to practice rural medicine and I believe I am an excellent fit for FSU. But I know FSU has a strong commitment to interviewing and accepting FL residents.

Wouldn't hurt sending an update with that information. I would do it if I were you. Good luck!

Definitely update them, but hopefully you have experience with rural living and having families that live in rural areas and such to add on to it.

Yes, I spent a lot of time growing up on my family farm in rural countryside….2 hours to nearest hospital!

Got an II today!!! SO excited and thrilled. The only day I could go is March 17th. At this point, are we just interviewing for a spot on the wait list since it is so late in the cycle? I wish I could do an earlier date but the one I wanted wasn't available.

How does FSU take to letters of intent? I would love the opportunity to interview here but I have not heard from them since December.. :/
If they do take letters of intent... where do I send it?

i sent my secondary in august and haven't heard anything lol
it's the only school i haven't heard back from

I thought you could only send a letter of intent post interview?

LOI stands for 2 things: letter of intent or letter of interest; letters of interest can be sent either pre or post-interview while letters of intent (to matriculate) can only be sent post-interview. Go ahead and e-mail them with whatever information you want to add and I hope it garners you an interview! GL!

Does anybody know if FSU interviews for a spot on their wait list or is every interview for a spot in the incoming class?
Thxs!!!

I had a friend interview around last April and her interviewer disclosed at the end that the spots were being offered for WL only. Not sure if that could mean they interview for WL spots, but that's what it seemed like! She was subsequently WL'ed but did get accepted after all! 🙂 I think it helped that she sent them updates in between her WL and acceptance period.

Thxs for the info 🙂 it's good news tho that she did get accepted so looks lik it's a moving WL

The hold list isn't a death sentence. I know of at least one person in my class accepted in the middle of orientation week due to a drop. I was a TA for the next class the following year, and we had a latecomer then, too (2nd week of anatomy, actually, a tough catch-up scenario). I wouldn't consider that the norm though.

There are probably a good number of seats left at this point. Hard to give an exact number as I'm not really involved in admissions. I just know the class coordinators won't get a preliminary roster until our Second Look event in April.

Good luck to all still in the circuit!

I plan on applying EDP to FSU next summer; what should I know about applying EDP at this school (I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to post this)?

I have the same question. Is it a must to have stats higher than their average matriculant stats?

I interviewed on the 7th they said they still had spots

Does anyone know how often the give acceptances from the wait list? Or do they just wait until April/May to give acceptances?

Wait list should have strong movement after April 15, since people who hold FSU acceptances must either forfeit all other acceptances to keep FSU's or drop FSU's in favor of holding other acceptances. Keep in mind FSU inherently interviews less ppl too ( a bit over 300), which is why the waitlist is not a death sentence. Also at least in my interview, I remember the dean saying that about 10% of ppl in their class comes from April interviewers, saying that at any point in the cycle you have more or less equal opportunity to gain an acceptance.

Have there been any acceptances recently? I interviewed March 7th and I am wait listed :-/

Just sent in a letter of intent/update. Hoping so badly for some good news.

I just received a late interview invite for this coming Monday and this post gives me hope that I still have a chance! Do you know what the acceptance class size is and how many they typically weight list? Thank you for any help!

Well today is the deadline for all accepted students to commit or withdraw. We should start seeing some movement on the waitlist from here on out. I too sent in an update for my application. They just told me they would be adding it to their file for me and thanked me for sending it in. It seems like I know more people who have been waitlisted than accepted...

I thought May 15 was the deadline for accepted students had to commit or withdraw?

Per AAMC website...

9. By May 15 of the matriculation year (April 15 for schools whose first day of class is on or before July 30), April 30 for M.D.-Ph.D. programs, each applicant who has received an offer of acceptance from more than one school or program choose the specific school or program at which the applicant prefers to enroll and withdraw his or her application, by written correspondence delivered by regular or electronic methods, from all other schools or programs from which acceptance offers have been received.

I believe their last interview is this Monday, so I'll be waiting waiting for movement after that date.

This Monday is their last interview day. I was very happy to see that I made that interview group even if it is the last day!

There should be some movement. But then again, I've heard about several people getting in the week leading up to orientation.

I'm interviewing next week, any tips? Is there anything the school emphasizes or likes that's not discussed on their website? I've read their entire website multiple times.

Congratulations on the invite! The mission statement sums up FSU pretty well. You're fine with the school's info if you read the website multiple times, just know your application and EC's inside and out. I always read up on updates on Obamacare before interviews, it's always best to be informed on ongoing events in healthcare. Out of all my interviews, this one was the most chill and enjoyable. The interviews will basically go where ever you take them, it's not as structured as others IMO (which is good because they can get to know you in a less stressful atmosphere) . Remember if you got an invite, they like you already - just be yourself, Good luck 🙂

Class size is 120. Don't worry about the wait list now, just focus on doing well on your interview. A ton of people probably just withdrew due to the deadline, so your chances of getting in are as good as anyone else's. Stay positive!

To those who interviewed today I hope it went well. Also, did they mention anything about how they will proceed? When you will hear anything/ wait list acceptances?

The director of our interviews stated that he wasn't sure how many acceptances were left to give out but he guesstimated 10-15 spots left. He also said stated that based on last year, they will take another 10-15 people from the wait list leading up to the first day of orientation. So that's approximately 20-30 more acceptances to give out. No idea on how many are on the wait list but I do know there are approximately 330 interviews and they plan to accept around 190 with expectations being that only 120 of those will actually matriculate.

Cool. Thanks for the info! 10-15 from the waitlist isn't that many considering how many are probably on it

True, but they began to give out acceptances from the wait list, April 15th so I'm not sure how many they have already taken from the wait list.

Did they specifically say they had already accepted from the waitlist since April 15? I had kind of thought they'd wait until after the last interview day to go to the waitlist.

Well..When I asked them, they told me that the movement in the Waitlist doesn't start until May. So, I agree with Gatorman!

Ok, I probably misheard then. But the rest of what I said is true, approximately 25-30 more people have a chance to be accepted and they typically accept 10-12 people from the April interviews.

Has anybody gotten off the wait list yet? ... When will we see movement

I interviewed March 31st and put on the waiting list. Hopefully there will be some movement soon...
