2013-2014 Florida State University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Just received the rejection from FSU. Not too surprised based on the info in this thread.

Best of luck to all those on the WL and I hope that everyone was/will be able to find a seat in a school of their liking! 🙂

Were you on the waitlist?

I see that you were accepted into almost every other Florida school though! That's amazing, Congrats!

Just received a rejection from FSU. Interviewed in Sept, placed on Hold in October. Very disappointing. Good luck to all those still in the running.

sorry about not getting in :/ did they email you the rejection letter or snail mail? Also does anyone know when the bridge committee meets?

I'm really sorry to hear that. I interviewed around the same time. It seems strange to me that they'd take anyone off the wait list until they've filled all the spots... How does the bridge program work exactly?

Yea I agree, I thought they would fill all their spots first. The bridge program is basically an enrichment masters that you complete in a year. Once you complete it you matriculated directly into fsu med. given that you keep a B average, which I don't think anyone in the program has fell below because it's such a great program.

So who do they offer spots to? It's crazy to think orientation for fsu is 24 days away....

Spots are offered to those that have been interviewed by fsu com and were recommended to the bridge committee. I know it's crazy! I really hope we hear back soon. Are you still on hold as well?

Oh cool. Idk if I could do a year of school then start med school. Yes I am.

Yea, I would do it to go to fsu. They are my number one choice. Well I hope that we will both meet each other this summer at orientation. Class of 2018!

Let's hope so! It's my top choice but I have another acceptance now so I don't think I could justify doing the bridge program. I'm optimistic though

Well I totally understand that.

Was wait listed back in September. Just received my rejection via email. Officially a reapplicant! I have faith that it's all for the best.

I'm sorry. I love your spirit though and your last statement is the the truth. Everything happens for a reason. Good luck in all your endeavors!

Were you applying to FSU COM but they gave u an offer for the bridge program? Or did u apply directly to the bridge program?
I don't think you can apply directly to the bridge program. They select people from the normal MD applications, specifically the waitlist from the looks of it. That being said, I did not get an acceptance to the bridge program. Still on hold...

Congrats y'all! Has anyone heard of any waitlist movement yet though?
I'm like joebell ... I haven't heard back and considering there has been some rejections and some bridge program offers I'm thinking maybe I can still be called

13 days until orientation >.<
Any wait list movement??
Who is still waiting?
Who has been accepted?
It's quite in this thread lol

All I've heard about waitlist movement was the couple of people who mentioned they received rejections. Haven't heard of any acceptances. I am still waiting. This thread is really quiet lol

Well tomorrow is May 15th so maybe there will start to be some movement starting up soon.

Does anyone know how many people they usually accept off the waitlist? Most schools will at least share that information.

At my interview they said that based on the last few years they expected to send at at least 40-50 more acceptances after the initial 120.

Nice that's pretty significant. And it helps that people have already been taken of the list. I do wonder if they've already sent out acceptances to people on the list though...

That's what I'm thinking... well, more like hoping.
I thought May 15th was irrelevant for FSU because all accepted students needed to reply to FSU by April 15 ... A month earlier since school starts sooner ... Was I misinformed?

Yeah April 15 is the deadline but then when people get other schools on May 15 then they are holding two again so some will drop FSU if they get off the waitlist at another school

Oooo I didn't know pple are allowed to do that ... I thought once u committ to a school then u couldn't take acceptances from other schools

Ya so it's not technically committing. They just say you can only be holding one acceptance or at least that's how I understood it

That's what I thought too. At this point, all I know is orientation is a week from Tuesday, so it should be any day now.
