I also noticed that they seem to accept somewhere around 250 students. One of the in house emails I received this year said that of the 253 students accepted last year 211 ended up coming to KU making it the "favorite" Medical School with a 80% "retention" rate.
 
I have not yet received a secondary app even though I submitted the AMCAS back in June. Should I start asking admissions what's up?
 
It can't hurt. The only problem I foresee is whether you were intending to apply EDP or Regular Decision. The deadline for EDP has passed, so it wouldn't help much for that. I do feel it's right to be surprised at the length of time since you submitted as I received mine within a few days of submission. This was even with the update of the system they had to implement. Contact the Admissions office, Jason Edwards, and you should be able to sort out the cause of the delay.
 
If one does not get an interview during early decision, are they still put in the regular decision pile?
 
According to my understanding, and what is noted on the website, those not accepted in EDP are automatically placed in the Regular Decision Pool.
 
Received my EDP interview invitation email this morning - Thursday, Sept 12 in group A (@ 8:30am)!

Does anybody have an idea of any GPA/MCAT cutoffs for KU EDP this time around? I know in the past recommendations have been at least a 3.5 GPA and 29 MCAT but I didn't know if, with the loss of 31 seats this year, these recommendations had changed. Do extracurriculars have any weight with EDP?
 
There is no cutoff. I did get an invite though, so I hope to see some of you there! Why are there 31 seats gone?

KUMC lost a few million dollars in funding which caused the school to lose seats. I was unfortunate to receive a rejection today from KU. As a reapplicant, I have a 3.56 GPA (3.92 for the past 2.5 years at KU - Lawrence campus) and 30Q MCAT as well as well over 150 hours as a patient assistant in a free health clinic, 1 year as a research assistant/intern in a lab, principal investigator in my own research study, and other various clinical and non-clinical volunteer activities. I know EDP is competitive and was wondering if anybody could provide me feedback on my stats as well as there own. Congratulations to everybody who got an interview!
 
When are they going to start extending regular decision interviews?

Originally I left some answers blank, since they weren't marked as required. About a week ago though I received an email from Jason letting me know that he re-opened my secondary so that I could finish all the questions. Soooo, answer them all if applicable!
 
Member890731, Was it a rejection or simply an email stating you wouldn't be interviewed for EDP? Because my understanding is that those not accepted/interviewed for EDP go into the Regular decision pool and will possibly be interviewed with that group.
 
They will begin sending Regular Decision interview invites mid September. Probably shortly around or after EDP interviews.

I received an invite to interview on October 11th. I wonder how many they will be interviewing per day and total this year. Looking at the schedule, there are 6 groups to be interviewed on the 11th.

There are about 6 groups for the 9th as well.

and I know of 133 EDP applicants they are interviewing 69.

Awesome! Congrats! I'm wondering if they're still extending invites... AMCAS didn't verify my primary application until a week and a half ago 🙁
 
They will extend invites on a rolling basis as they proceed. Interviews can go out as far as February, with final decisions due by March.
 
How long after the interview do you receive acceptance, wait-list, etc.

You might contact Jason Edwards and ask him. I would think they could go out before the next interview dates (Oct 9-11), but they may not touch more applications until after they choose those who will be accepted from the first 2 interview groups.
 
My my what an experience. Now I'm going to sit back and have nightmares about my rejection.

Interview invite for Oct. 9th! Was pretty sure they already filled this round, but apparently not!

How did you all answer this question on your secondary? Did you give an example of an EC or hobby? I'm just not clear on what type of interest they are looking for. Thanks!

I chose to mention my love of cooking and how I have developed my own style through trying new recipes and making them my own.
 
Anyone here that's regular decision just today have their file marked complete??

I finished mine in July I believe. But I was initially early decision. But in early September I changed to regular decision than a week later had an interview invite for October 9th.
