2013-2014 University of Nevada Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Welp, provided we can take ChemNerd on her word, and that Sparky's email response is legit, looks like the rest of us OOSers are out of luck... bummer. Congrats to those who have been receiving good news though!
I'm hoping to god they're not done. I didn't apply to Nevada but I know of 3 OOS applicants. One heard back, the other 2 haven't. Theyre the 2 that really need the acceptance. I'll keep you all posted. Fingers crossed!!!

I received an alternate letter in the mail. OOS. I was told they notify acceptances before sending out rejections and alternates. Therefore, I am pretty sure aceptances were emailed out friday. Good luck everyone

So what about IS applications? Is anyone else still waiting to hear back on the 2/15 decisions? I'm hoping that emails weren't already sent. It seems like if they were then someone would have posted here. The only action we have seen so far has been with OOS applications.

i'm IS (though my mailing address currently is not) and haven't heard anything (though that could change when I make it home).

I contact Pat Romney this morning and she was able to confirm that all the emails and letters were sent out last Friday. All accepted students received an email last Friday (and will also be receiving a letter in the mail), but all waitlisted and rejected students will have their decisions sent out in snail mail only. These were mailed out last Friday, and we should be receiving them today or tomorrowish.

I have not checked my mail yet today, but will in an hour or so.

I am an OOS as well, and interviewed in December in Las Vegas. Really needed this acceptance, but looks like I will be getting a waitlist or rejection =/

I'm IS, interviewed early in the cycle, and still haven't heard back. Anyone else in the same boat? I'm starting to get nervous...

Thanks for the info.

Just an update...

I just received the snail mail via certified mail.

Ended up making the alternate list =(

I am aware of students calling and finding out if they are in the "top, middle, or bottom third of the list" last year, but my letter did not mention anything about this list. Is anyone able to expand on how applicants go about finding out where on the list they stand? I don't imagine this is possible until after the final round of decisions are sent out next month.

I would also be interested in doing this. So anybody with the know how, help would be greatly appreciated.

Can I ask what state (or geographic area) you live in? Didn't get a letter today myself and kind of would have expected it to arrive where I live.

All? As in they don't need to do a march date too?

Utah, And I am pretty sure he meant all from the February meeting.

Yes, I meant the February review date. There will be one more review date in March....

I live in Arizona and received my waitlist letter today. I'm assuming certain states may take another day or two.

Wait-listed as well, OOS, Idaho. Amongst all the questions already asked above, anyone have any insight into how many people have been accepted off the wait-list in previous years?

I am also an alternate and found out I am in the top 1/3.

If you want to find out where you are, call Pat Romney (I used the phone number on the website). She cannot tell you how many are on the list or how much movement there was last year. However, she said we can call as often as we want to ask how much movement the list is seeing. She also noted that we really won't see too much movement until mid-May when accepted students are required to submit in writing whether or not they will attend the school (as in, if they are holding multiple acceptances, they have to choose at that point). Pat also told me that they accepted someone during the Wednesday of orientation week last year. Hope that was helpful!

Alternate/wait-listed as well OOS.

Who starts off a wait-list letter with "It is with great pleasure..."??? I wonder if the rejection letters started off the same. Lol!

All I know is that percentage-wise, the OOS wait-list gets more movement than IS. At least a few wait listed OOSers will get acceptances! I asked during interview day. Have hope!

So I emailed Pat Romney to ask about this top/middle/bottom tier thing for the alternate list. She responded the next day and informed me I was top tier. Still wish I knew how many people normally move off the alternate list though.

I just called and Pat Romney was able to confirm I was in the top tier as well for the OOS pool. She said no real movement is seen for OOS until May 15th, which is the date the OOS kids have to accept or decline.

Thought I would let everyone know that I too contacted Pat Romney awhile ago and she also told me that I was top tier. I will admit I find it interesting that everyone that asked got the same response. Coincidence? Top tier is a little more vague to me then last years top/middle/bottom third definition. But then again I could very well be looking into it too much. Have a good day everyone.

From the impression I got from the phone call, there are 2 waitlists. 1 for OOS, another for IS. When she told us that we were in the "top tier", I believe it was the top tier for the OOS waitlist.

I just found it interesting! I understood there was two lists.

On other news.. I received a call from Pat Romney today. I was accepted from off the alternate list! So excited for this school. Party time! 😀

Wow! That's awesome! That is surprising someone OOS turned down the offer so soon, I was told that there is usually no movement before May. So funny that you were just beginning to to question everyone being in the top tier and you just got off the list! Congrats!

Do you mind sharing stats?

I too thought it was interesting that everyone on here was "top tier", but hey, you got off of it, so there is hope! =)

In state. Interviewed in October. Haven't heard anything yet and getting super nervous! 🙁

That's awesome, I'm really happy for you! Good to know some of us OOS kids are getting in. I actually was not aware that there was a lot of OOS movement, but if they told you that, it definitely gives rise to some hope.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for some good news soon! I have a DO acceptance now, but Nevada is definitely at the top of the list!

Thanks for sharing stats and all!

I spoke to Pat Romney today and asked her if they were sending out IS acceptances in March and wait list notices in April and she told me that she " will be sending letters out to all remaining applicants in March. " NERVE RACKING! 😕

Officially withdrew my application. Had my alternate-list rank been tapped for an acceptance, I hope it now goes to one of you 🙂 Best of luck folks!

Whoops, sorry for the double post. My lasting legacy on this thread.

Well, found out I'm in the middle tier for the alternate list OOS, does anyone have any idea if this level ever really gets delved into?

Any updates out there with the alternate list? Anyone getting accepted?

Congrats TCSC13! Do you mind sharing your stats?
Also IS, didn't hear anything today. I'm assuming that means I'm wait listed or denied. :/

Certified mail yesterday. Selected as an IS alternate. Called today and spoke with Pat Romney, Top Tier. She said there has not been any movement on the In State wait list yet but that most of the movement will happen around May 15th when students have to let their schools know if they are going. She couldn't tell me exactly what my chances were but does anyone here have any idea how far down the wait list they usually go? I have seen alot of varying information on it and it seems that no one really knows.

I ended up getting a call from Pat Romney today offering me a seat for the class of 2018 off of the wait list! So excited and grateful to have an opportunity to attend this amazing school! Everyone on the wait list should keep their heads up and not lose hope.

OOS withdrew my acceptance yesterday. I hope one of you get a call today! If not you are one seat closer!!!
