2013-2014 University of South Florida Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I was told during my call today that it would be April 25th (in Tampa, at least), but Dr. Daniel didn't have any info other than that.
Congratulations on your call! Thanks for the info.

Thanks! A belated congratulations to you as well! If there's any additional information in my packet next week I'll be sure to post it 🙂

Sounds good. I didn't get any info on the 2nd look in my acceptance packet, but maybe you will. Otherwise I think I'll just call and post whatever I find out on here.

Guys, I think they said they will be sending out an email regarding second-look dates. 🙂

Second look is April 25 - at least that's what they told us on my interview date!
Sidenote, PM me if you have been accepted!! I'm starting a facebook group for the class of 2018.

It looks like they already started one. Type in morsani 2018

Hey all. Congrats to those admitted and good luck to those still interviewing!

Message from the COMPAC, passed on by me: Facebook page is ready for Class of 2018, but they are waiting on the official admit list from the admissions folks so it should be coming soon. Please wait for that, instead of forming your own. Thanks!

I just sent my email to withdraw from my acceptance offer for this school.

Good luck everybody

I saw something vague earlier about no deposit, but I just want to clarify - is there a deposit required for holding your acceptance? And if so, how long do you have to send it in? I'm just a little nervous because my acceptance packet still hasn't arrived (over a week - it probably got held up with all the snow storms we've been having...) and I don't want to miss sending anything in if I need to.

Thanks!

I think you'll be fine. No deposit and there's not much of a rush to return the acceptance packet. I'm pretty sure I didn't see any deadlines...just something like "as soon as possible"

I didn't get mine for about 2-3 weeks at least. It had to go overseas. No deposit and no rush (except May 15, but that applies for all schools).

does the USF web page update with your decision once they've made one (accepted/WL, rejected) post-interview? Or does it just stay at "interviewed scheduled on: xx" and you only know based on their call/letter in the mail?

Mine still says "interview... etc" 1 week post-call.

Will there be a separate FB group for the SELECT students or should we look to join Morsani 2018?

I'm interviewing on Feb 18th 😀 So excited! Anybody else with that interview date?

Best of both worlds! We have a separate facebook group and we are also a part of the main class facebook page.

Awesome! Will we be automatically invited to both? Thanks for answering!

waitlisted..not many people posted in last years thread about being accepted off the WL after may 15, so its hard to say if it doesn't happen often or if people just didn't post about it.

Also, has anyone called to get feedback on their app?

Did you get a call or email? When did you interview?
Does anyone know when they will be ending interviews? I am still at "ready for review" and am getting discouraged at this point. I live in the Lehigh Valley and the SELECT program is a perfect fit for me. My family also has a home near Tampa and I am a perfect fit for that program as well. Unfortunately, being OOS is a huge disadvantage at USF.

Being OOS is not a huge disadvantage for SELECT. I was under the impression that many in the select program are from OOS

From their admissions site: "September 2013 - March 2014: Invitations to interview are sent out for regular decision applicants." I would assume that means interviews are conducted through ~mid-April.

The MSAR says that "competitive" (or some similar phrasing) OOS students are encouraged to apply for the SELECT program. Every student at my interview day for the program was OOS. I would send an update letter if you haven't already, but honestly it can come down to luck with who views your app or where in the review pile yours ends up.

Has anyone sent an update letter pre-interview. I thought they specifically said on the confirmation of their secondary that they did not allow updates?

Uh. Duh. You're right. I had looked back at the wrong column on my med school list regarding updates. Sorry 😳

No worries….I would have done it if they didn't specifically say they didn't accept them. And I do agree…this whole process is kind of luck of the draw as to who reviews your application.

I interviewed last week on the 11th as well, but I haven't heard back. Here's to hoping!

Did everyone who interviewed for core get the mail saying " thanks for interviewing etc etc... We look forward to speaking with you soon" (not exact but that summed it up)

If so did you get a call?
Wait list?

He got it right after the interview. Maybe next day. It sounded so promising
