2013-2014 University of South Florida Application Thread

That is just a general post-interview email they send out. I got it the day after my interview too. USF tries to give some response in less than a month. I got my acceptance in less than a week. It seems like a lot of acceptances are sent out within a week and a half post interview from what I've seen here.

I interviewed last week and have not heard back yet.. was really hoping for a call on Wednesday, but I see I'm not the only one disappointed. Maybe we just need to wait a few more days! Fingers crossed :xf:

I just got a letter in the mail letting me know I'm on the wait list. Interviewed for Core on 02-11-14. Anyone got any info to offer up on USF's wait list?

I haven't heard anything other than that it is April 25th. I'm looking forward to it though as I didn't get a chance to check out a lot of what USF has to offer including Tampa General, CAMLS, and most of the area in general. Interview days are always overwhelming. Also, anyone see that USF hired a new dean? He has a pretty impressive CV. I think he's going to do some good things for the school. http://wusfnews.wusf.usf.edu/post/ohio-state-dean-tapped-usf-health-leader

Awesome, thanks! Was the Apri 25th date in an email?

Someone posted earlier that this day was revealed during their interview. I do not think anyone's received an official second look email yet.

I interviewed recently and can confirm they have it tentatively planned for April 25th. If I recall, there is an informal get-together on the evening of the 24th as well.

Just checked your link and all I can say is that it is exciting news! He doesn't start till May 5th so he probably won't be able to address us at second look but it will be interesting to see what the future holds. See this link as well: http://www.tampabay.com/opinion/editorials/editorial-good-signs-from-new-usf-health-dean/2166779

Looks great to me! From what I understand he hasn't been at Ohio State long so I wonder what we had to do to get him here? I'm excited to see what he'll do!
I wonder what type of impact he'll make. Dr. Klasko was also an MBA so he came from a unique background with health care and business experience that allowed him to significantly expand the image of and investment in USF Health.

How important is Second Look? I'm fairly certain I'm attending USF & the total cost of travel + lodging will put me out about $600. Is it worth it?

It's not mandatory, it's more for your own information. You get to see much more than you did during your interview day, including TGH, CCLM, etc. If you are certain that you will be attending USF and do not want to spend additional money, you do not HAVE TO attend the second look. It's also a chance to meet your potential classmates, but then again, if you are almost certain that you will be attending USF, you can definitely wait till August to meet them 🙂.

Interviewed 2/11. Got my wait-list letter Friday of last week. Expected it after no phone call Wed. Anyone from that interview date or a later date accepted?

Better question: is anyone interviewed ever rejected? I just want a feel for how long this wait list is.

I have strong ties to Tampa and USF Health so am pretty upset that I didn't get in after an interview but ready to move on to one of the schools that accepted me. That's difficult because my fiancé has been working on career here for 6+ years, before I even moved to Tampa, so packing up and leaving when uncertain isn't an option for us. Frustrating.

People do get rejected, but as you can imagine, post-interview rejections aren't really reported. Last year my friend was rejected post interview. I course things could be different this year.

That would make 5 of us from 2/11 waitlisted.. I was under the impression they accept a large number of interviewees but maybe it is more sparse this time of the year. I imagine the wait list is pretty long. Haven't heard of anyone from our date who was accepted yet.

Do you know when phone calls usually occur? Wednesday?

They told us they would call the next Wednesday and this is consistent with what the student who interviewed me said. She said that the admission committee meets Tuesday evenings. My wait list letter was printed that day also. I am sure they have to reschedule things sometimes though but in general Wednesdays.

Interesting, thanks for the information. I hope you get off the waitlist quickly.

Looking at the MSAR only a little over 400 interview, chances seem to be decent for people waitlisted, good luck to those waiting.

This is just a thought let me know what u guys think ... I read the threads from earlier yrs n it seems like anybody interviewing early or middle February until the end of interviews doesn't hear back for quite some time... every yr ... I think it's because there's lots going on in the school... M2 people are finishing the yr and going off to study for step 1 maybe this is keeping pple in admissions busy aside from just worrying about us? Or why else do other get replied faster than us?

Withdrew from the wait list. Good luck to everyone!

Just got my letter ... I'm wait listed from the 2/18 interview 🙁

anyone send a POST-waitlist update/LOI or even just a LOI?

Has anyone who interviewed on 2/25 heard back yet?
I wouldn't worry too much because a reported acceptance hasn't come through since Feb 13th (as far as I know) meaning their interviews were Feb 4th if not earlier. Besides that it's only been wait lists reported, but I know people who haven't heard anything and others who got wait listed and they had the same II day. I'm guessing that they are moving slowly through the files (similar to last years thread) and if you haven't heard back yet, then maybe you'll be accepted down the road because rejections are uncommon so I'd imagine if others are being wait listed from your II day and you haven't heard anything, then it may mean good news. Bottom line is to just hope and wait. I'm sure you and many others will get good news. Best of luck!

Hello everyone!

I am an OOS applicant that got a CORE interview invite on February 18th, scheduled for March 11th. I'm really excited!!!

I wish everyone the best of luck in the process!

Waitlisted interviewed 2/25

Bit confused because I was expecting to be notified after 3/11-12 since they meet 2 weeks post interview to discuss those candidates.

let us know post interview what u get 🙂 I'm wondering if they are accepting any more pple it seems to be mostly WL

It sucks that USF doesn't give you any feedback on your application if you're waitlisted. Based on how many people are being WL'd you have to imagine a decent amount aren't going to be coming off. It would've been nice to know what needs to be improved in case I don't get in this year

Anyone else from the 2/25 interview still not hear anything? Can't tell if it's a good sign or bad.

I interviewed 2/11 and still haven't heard anything so don't fret. Checking last year's thread, it took someone 7 weeks to hear back about their acceptance.
