2014-2015 Cooper Medical School of Rowan University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Right after I posted, I checked the threads from the two previous years. It looks like most of the wait list movement happens on May 15. Most of the people pulled off the wait list were accepted on May 15 and given 2 weeks to decide, after which another round of acceptances were made. By early June, most people on the wait list were given letters of regret.
I'm pretty sure the deadline to make your decision of where you are attending changed from May 15 to April 30 this year, which is why old threads would show movement later. I could be wrong though

Yes, there was movement on May 16 last year, and I figured because deadline is up to April 30 this year it could be first two weeks of May this year in which class is filled. Good luck to everyone waiting!

Oh God I did not know the deadline moved up...and queue the anxiety now

does anyone know anything about acceptances from the regular waitlist? Is this pretty rare compared to the priority list?

Looking at past threads, those who got accepted off the waitlist went waitlist-->HP WL-->acceptance after that so I'm not really sure...

I was accepted off the priority waitlist yesterday! I bet there will be more movement, don't worry!

Congrats to those accepted off of the waitlist! Hate to bother you with questions during your time of celebration but were you initially placed on the normal waitlist and moved to priority or were you always a priory 😛 ?

Perhaps, those of us who were moved up from the waitlist to priority waitlist will hear on Monday or later. It is my understanding that some people on the normal waitlist get accepted each year, which would make me think that everyone on the priority waitlist gets an opportunity. Of course I could be wrong, as with all of us this time of year, I am simply conjecturing. Maybe current medical students can share about this? Whether they know of people in the current classes who got in after normal waitlist status?

Trying to stir up some hope!!

Hmmm...I think it actually depends on if you are IS or OOS on the priority or regular waitlist...but that is my guess from reading past years on SDN....Good luck!

Anyone get any phone calls today or yesterday? I'm IS and have been on the priority WL since December. Anxious for any news...

No call for me, OOS and priority wait list since november. I wish I knew how many people were on the priority list and where we are ranked, the anxiety is killing me.

Nevermind, just got the call a few minutes ago. Good luck to those waiting, hopefully I'll see you this fall.

Any news from anybody? Checking the waitlist emails again I saw that the one telling me I moved from normal to priority said we would find out in mid-May and the original waitlist email said late May. So perhaps there is still a chance for all of us!

Has anyone called the office asking about movement?

I called and was told that not too much waitlist movement had happened. Not sure when final class will be all together, or if priority waitlist is ranked. Time will tell....

Was it a has not happened yet type of thing? Key word being yet.

It was a few weeks back, and they said that there just hadn't been a lot of movement at all...I was expecting most of the movement to come after April 30, so I was surprised that there has been so little activity here. IDK. I'm still holding the flame!

+1 were you high priority or the regular waitlist? Thanks 🙂
I think I've entered a confused state. I am high-priority WL, OOS, and interviewed January 23. I had the impression that Cooper was letting in off wait-list based on interview dates, but I think I'm not right. Any insight anyone?

I would say this is not right. I was interviewed on the very first interview date...

And are you on the high priority wait list too? What about IS or OOS? What a ride this has been! I love this school!

regular waitlist, but IS/in county - my home is 5 minutes from the school so it'd be the best thing ever to actually be accepted there

Totally hoping for you! I feel like a lot of waitlist movement is really slow this year, and maybe that is related to the huge applicant pool?

Thanks! Yea - I have a feeling the waitlist movement will be low this year overall.

Not sure if everyone else got the email, but just received the 'waitlist is closed' email....was on priority waitlist and interviewed in October...hopefully will be able to interview here again this cycle...loved the school! Good luck to everyone who will be attending.

+1 I got this email today

I just received an email that my application was received and will be reviewed. Problem: I didn't reapply and I'm starting at a medical school in a month lol. Anyone else get this strange email?

I've heard mixed answers before, but does anyone know one way or the other if you can become an IS resident with corresponding tuition after one year? Or ever with relative ease? I thought other NJ schools made it sound reasonable, but Cooper's website makes it sound pretty impossible. Applying as an OOSer and would appreciate the info.

So uh...is it normal to still be sitting on the waitlist? I never got that waitlist closed email...

I was on the priority waitlist and received the "waitlist is closed" email at least a month ago. I understood the waitlist was closed for everyone.

The waitlist isn't closed for everyone. I am still on the waitlist currently. I talked to someone in admissions awhile back and he explained to me that every once in awhile someone drops at the last minute. I am on priority waitlist (there is no high priority just priority and regular fyi).

Oops! You are right-not high priority, just priority and regular waitlist (I corrected this). I find it odd that the waitlist isn't closed yet, because I spoke with the admissions department in June and they said that the waitlist was soon to be closed for everyone, and then I received the closed email shortly thereafter. Regardless, best of luck to everyone!

Its cool, just semantics. When I spoke to them they did not seem to think there was going to be any more drops (i.e. encouraging me to reapply, etc.). Its kind of weird to have no gotten the email yet but fingers crossed they like me enough for next year at least 🙂!
