WOOOO first rejection. lizzy M 70-72. very happy with my success in the application cycle so far, so i wasn't really bummed about this. good luck to everyone else!
this is very much the kind of community I'd like to train around and help, but after reading all of your posts it's got me thinking, at what cost? a quick google search actually led to some very scary results about Camden, and my first thought was "what if i get lost trying to find the school for an interview or something and end up in a bad part of the city", which says a lot I think. some of the updates about the police force have seemed comforting, but i suddenly find myself torn about this secondary because of some of your negative posts. I'd like to be sure I would be happy here before doing it, so I guess I'll have to do some more research.
I'm an M1 there, and from what I've heard from the school, there have been no incidents with students, knock on wood. Most of this is due to our AMAZING security staff, most of whom are ex-cops from the area. They will walk or drive the students anywhere to their cars or public transportation, or if you live in the city, sometimes to your house. They're there 24 hours a day. They know all of our names, and they're wonderful to us. You need to get by them to get into the school. They gave us an extensive lecture during orientation on safety in the neighborhood, where they also gave us their numbers in case we needed them off of campus (like walking from our cars or to the hospital). Most students, when not on school business, walk together to get to and from the campus on their advice. It is a sketchy place sometimes, and there is a LOT of street TV, but...i wish some students from Cooper's first couple of classes would comment about the safety around the school, safety around where most students live, any incidents they have heard of happening, etc. could potentially help many of us here to hear firsthand what students have experienced.

I feel relatively comfortable there. I've never felt like I needed security to walk me to my car, and I walk to and from the hospital or restaurants by myself a lot. I feel totally safe studying in the building at any time, because seriously, you need your ID to get into almost all of the doors. So far my biggest complaint about Camden is that there aren't any quiet cafe's in walking distance, and then I have to drive literally five minutes into Philadelphia to get to one. #firstworldproblems
I have a family, and we rent a beautiful, brand new 3 bedroom townhouse in Philadelphia for 2500. It's about 10 minutes away from school by car. If I had 2 roommates instead of 2 children, the rent would be about 850/mo, which is not bad at all. I think the majority of students live in a very nice loft building on the Camden waterfront called the Victor, and I have no idea what the rents are like there. I do know that by next year, they'll start having student housing directly across the street from the school, and that should be a little less expensive than the Victor. I didn't need help finding a place, but on second look day, they had a bunch of rental companies there in case you did need some help.I hear there has been somewhat of turn around in the housing next to the university. How have you found the housing situation? And if you dont mind mentioning them whats your rent/roommate situation/housing location/help from the university in regards to housing? Thanks

Trust, I'm pretty sure zero people are finding it impossible to go out for drinks with classmates. 😉some great info from you guys, thank you! sounds like things aren't nearly as bad as they are made out to be.
my only concern is that going out for a drink with classmates sounds literally impossible due to safety concerns, which is worrisome to me, but other than that, not too bad. appreciate the insight!

yeah people go out all the time. There is only one bar that I know of in Camden which is in the Victor so when people want to go out they get on the PATCO and its two stops to philly for a nominal charge.
sorry if this has been asked before, but does anyone known how receptive they are to OOS applicants? I really love the school's mission but am not an NJ resident nor have strong ties to the state. Just trying to gauge my chances here. Thanks in advance!

Last year looks like it was around 1/3 OOS
Reading the stats for all the rejects makes me nervous. 28/3.49/3.29
I was confirmed complete on 08/05, but have yet to be given or denied an interview.
Just wanted to make sure I wasn't the only one waiting! Good luck!apparently , forever ..... my mcat scores were released august 26 .. and i still have no secondary 😕
This school is much more about fit than numbers.Reading the stats for all the rejects makes me nervous. 28/3.49/3.29

How much weight does this school put on MCAT score
You were complete on 9/6 or 8/6?I received an II on September 8th. I was complete on the 6th.
September 6th.. incredibly quick II. I was surprised.
jeez...did you cure cancer???
rejected today…I thought I had a pretty decent shot here given my fit for the school (or at least I thought). I have a lot of background working in areas like Camden and have lived and worked in baltimore all my life.
My stats were a little bit lower on the spectrum (29, cGPA 3.59, sGPA, 3.5, graduate GPA: 3.55) but I thought they would look past that if deemed like a good fit. Anyways hope everyone else still waiting hears back soon!
Very surprising rejection just now. 3.55/30 In-state applicant. Average EC's but did volunteer work in Camden.
complete 7/22
This is actually my first rejection that hurts a little because I really thought the school was a good fit for me and vice versa…from the rejection email they make it pretty clear they don't give you feedback onto why you were rejected…
