Did you already fill out your needs access and send in all your forms? I feel really behind now... I filed my FAFSA but thats about it.

Yupppp. I had some schools with March 1 deadlines so I just did them all!
 
For those who received your financial aid package, what email address was it sent from? Weirdly, my mom received a financial aid package at an email address that she no longer uses and that we never put on any of the paperwork, so I was concerned that it could be a scam...
 
Anyone got the turnaround time from submitting financial info to getting the aid package? And did you guys get any sort of email confirmation for the statement of intent?

No email confirmation. for me it was 1.5 weeks I think.
 
Does anyone know if Duke offers any scholarships other than the full-tuition ones? According to the financial aid website, the average student debt at graduation is $115,000. Based on the financial aid package I received, I don't know how this could be true. I would be going into ~200K of debt, so I'm starting to seriously consider other schools.

Hey guys, just as news for my fellow waitlistees out there- I talked to a friend who is an MS2, and she says that >140 people have signed up for second look. So assuming that people who go to second look are likely to go to Duke/are strongly considering Duke, I wouldn't hold out much hope that they'll pull heavily off the waitlist. Duke's class size is only 110 people at max

My friend says that the number of people they have accepted off the waitlist varies a LOT. Last year, it was about 20 people. The year before, it was 0

Let's not get too pessimistic here though. It's probably reasonable to assume many second look attendees are also attending 1-2 more second looks, so I can see even 50% of the attendees going elsewhere. Who knows?
 
I wouldn't assume that those attending second looks are dead-set on matriculating. I think that second looks are most often used for comparative purposes to facilitate difficult decisions between close choices (at least that's how I'm using them). I don't know about heavily pulling from the waitlist, but I'd bet plenty that there will be some WL movement.
 
Has any one gotten notification (email) that their statement of intent has been received? I called last week and was told they were busy compiling them and couldn't give any indication of receipt. I'm getting worried that my letter got lost.

Yeah, same here. Was told to call back on Tuesday? That's a day before the deadline.

I had a four day turnaround after Duke registered all documents as submitted. ProbablyaPenguin mentioned 1.5 weeks a few posts up.
 
I am just now finishing up my financial aid forms... You guys think it is a good idea to just hand them in in person on Thursday/Friday when I get to Durham? Or send them via mail?

oh. Yeah. idk i just emailed them everywhere because it was faster. I figure postal mail and email are all equally insecure, just different kinds of unknown threats to my personal identifying information. 😛
 
Has anyone recieved confirmation that their letter of intent was recieved?
 
Got email confirmation earlier today, though I had sent an email request 2-3 days prior.
