2014-2015 Georgetown University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I received an email from them this morning with my PIN, but just received the same exact email with a different PIN. Did this happen to anyone else? Which PIN should I use?

Same here. But the technical issues I was having before (graduation year for family member alumni) have not cleared up.

So I called the admissions office - there was a voice mail saying that they are experiencing technical difficulties with their secondary applications. They haven't resolved it yet.

I think it is safe to say that we should hold off on submitting the secondary until they resolve this. I too have received two emails with two different PINs, and that really complicates matters.

I cant submit because it says my first and last name are required but there's no field to enter them in. anyone else have this issue?

if they're going to require applicants to have a mcat of 10 and above in each section they should require themselves to have a less glitchy application.

Are you using Chrome?! I had the same page outline/"experience" then I thought maybe the glitch is Chrome related... switched to FireFox and Safari... then I had a totally different page!

We still can't put in Last/First Name, so can't submit using old/new PIN... I'm sure they are working feverishly to fix stuff anyways

Where are you seeing the secondary essays? I only have the personal information tab.

I've used both safari and chrome, same issue 🙁.

When you finish the first section and click Save & Continue, it'll show up then

yeah still not solved, but my page doesn't look like the screen shot you posted anymore (only did the first time I logged in)... here is a screen shot

EDIT: never mind 😕 I thought I saw the old app view... I am probably going crazy :bang:

The screenshot is identical to what I see on my page.

I think the second one; happened with me too.

Received secondary today. Also got 2 PINs. Sounds like everyone's having issues. I'll hold off on this one. Still got 2 others to do.

Lol. Definitely gonna put this one off for a bit until all the kinks get worked out. Learned my lesson with VCU submitting first day and then app got changed from a 8000 char prompt to a different 1500 char prompt....

So relieved others are having the same issues! I got three PINs today as well!

i only have 2 thankfully but it wouldnt surprise me if i got another. georgetown needs to get it together.

wow i just got a 3rd pin, you've got to be kidding me >_<.

I've been able to log in successfully using my first out two emails. I like how there's a short answer AND an essay you have to upload. Interesting...

Has anyone with 3.3 gpa got into Georgetown these past 2 years? Is it worth to apply with low gpa?

You never know if you don't try, you're not going to make 100% of the shots that you don't take. That said, this shot will cost you $36+$130. So hope you have a pile of cash lying around, or a credit card that you're able to load up.

has anyone managed to submit the secondary for georgewtown? mine's still broken

we need a PIN?

EDIT: jk completely forgot there was a PIN...smh me

Debating whether or not to apply. I got a 9 on one section but well above 10 on the others. How firm is this >10/section policy?
Quote from secondary e-mail:
"Those invited for interview generally present a mean science Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.6 and mean Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) scores of 10 for each subtest. Those considered competitive after interview have roughly the same academic credentials, stronger recommendations, and a more positive interview evaluation than those rejected after interview."
My opinion is that they don't enforce a strict >10 policy, but it might just be me hoping (I'm in the same boat as you).

According to MSAR the 10th percentile for accepted applicants is 8 for verbal, 10 for bio, 9 for physical so no strict >10 policy.

According to MSAR the 10th percentile for accepted applicants is 3.4 overall GPA and 3.3 science GPA. With those stats and as many applications as Georgetown gets, I would only apply if you're a really strong applicant in other ways than GPA and/or you can write a convincing secondary that you are just what Georgetown needs

Thank you, this is what I was looking for. Is there any common wisdom on applying to a school when one of your numbers is 10th percentile and everything else is at or above average?

I was sent three emails. I just assumed they really wanted me to apply.

anyone got "no space for last/first name" issue resolved? Thanks!

First name/last name issue is now fixed on my app

The first and last name wasn't fixed for me? Is anyone else still having problems?

I'm using the 3rd pin number they gave me.

yes georgewtown's site is still broken. hopefully they'll fix it today.

I used the third pin because it was most recent, but I really don't think it should matter as everything is probably linked to your AMCAS ID and name.

Is anyone applying to the M.D./M.P.H. program? If so, how do you apply? The website seems to imply that you can do both concurrently but doesn't offer any details about how to do so.

So should I order my foreign transcript now? Do I just have it sent to the admissions office?

Unless you've taken your pre-reqs there, I don't think you have to. I emailed them to insure what it said on their AMCAS guide and this is what they told me. Also if those credits transferred onto your 4-years university here in America or Canada as pass/fail or something, you don't have to.
