When did you receive the email saying everything was complete? I'm getting worried because I payed my fee 7/3, but got an email 7/7 saying my application and fee were complete.
36 MCAT/3.94sGPA
I got the 'fee received' email on 7/7. It seems like in the past the LOR requests came out in batches so I'm sure you'll get one soon 🙂

LOR request today... I just need to assign letters to mayo through amcas just like all the other schools right? These guys are confusing me

Yes, you assign letters like any other school!

I just got an email saying my application is complete. It also says:

"We are pleased to notify you that your application has been selected for final review and interview consideration by the Mayo Medical School Admissions Executive Committee."

Was there another screen after the LOR request, or is it just referring to the fact that not everyone got LOR requests? Either way, I'm stoked! Fingers crossed soooo hard for this one.

Just got it as well! Basically says LORs received. Not sure about the second part of the email either. But yay progress!

+1
Opening this email definitely made my heart beat a little faster because I was not expecting it at all.

Hi all,

As an applicant who was accepted to Mayo this past cycle, I'll stop in as much as possible to answer your questions. And I wish you the very best of luck, Mayo is an amazing institution!

After Mayo receives your LORs, there is only one more screen to determine whether or not they offer you an interview invite. I think this e-mail should be taken as an "Application Complete" e-mail.

Something to note: all the steps & emails in Mayo's admissions process may seem complicated at times, but Mayo does this in order to let you know exactly which stage your application stands in its review process. If you haven't received a LOR request yet, it is very possible that Mayo has received many more applications than they can handle at once and your application still hasn't been reviewed yet.

Keep in mind, the Mayo's admission process (and all med school admissions) is may be long and not necessarily as linear as "submit -> interview -> decision". For reference, here is how my progression of statuses went:

AMCAS Approved: 7/26
Request for Fee: 7/27
Payment Received: 7/27
Fee Received: 7/29
LOR Request: 7/31
LOR Received: 7/31 (I had them pre-assigned)
Interview Invite: 10/11
Interview: 11/4
Reviewed & Ranked: 11/26
Hold Status: 12/4
Alternate List: 1/22
Accepted off WL: 5/21

Good luck everyone!

LOR request just after midnight. I really should not have checked my e-mail in the middle of the night. I am too excited. 🙂 Fee received e-mail was 7/8 my letters were pre-assigned in AMCAS. I didn't even expect to make it this far with 3.5/36.

To tow the line between helpful and neurotic- It looks like the first IIs (based on last year and the year before) will start going out in a week to 3 weeks for those people who got the "complete" email yesterday.

Does Mayo notify people if they've been rejected/put on hold from the screen for LOR requests?

I don't think it's an option to be held for LOR, or at least not officially. I think you can assume that you are either in line or held unless you hear something. Based on last year and the year before it looks like they do send rejections pre-LOR but not for a few weeks. I think they like to let you know rather than keep you hanging.

Excited to receive the LOR request, but now I have to wait for my school's committee to upload my LORs 🙁

Same here. It's frustrating that they have had all my materials for months but it still takes them so long to upload, it feels like such a disadvantage.

So, I applied to Mayo as my SUPER reach. I'm a non-traditional with a previous career in the business industry but my GPA is 3.3, way below their average. MCAT is 32. I received an email:

"Thank you for your application fee payment. Please note that Mayo Medical School does not have a secondary application. We do not request letters of recommendation from all applicants. When letters of recommendation are needed for your file, you will be notified via email.

If your letters are already in AMCAS, there is no further action required on your part. If we wish to access the letters, we will retrieve them directly from AMCAS."

So, no LOR request...but no rejection yet... is that kiiiind of a good thing? 😵 I know I read somewhere up there that they reject pre-LOR after a few weeks so should I be pretty much bracing myself for that? Either way, I had to try, so I'm glad I at least applied.

Everyone gets that email. Good luck!

Oh? I thought I saw a previous email that told the applicant they were letting him/her know they are starting the retrieval process. Mine's just says they'll let me know when they want to, haha 😉

First you get the one you got. Then they will request/retrieve them and send you that email. They are quite communicative. I appreciate it.

Oh! I get it. Wow, they are so communicative that I didn't expect it and it sort of freaked me out 🙂. Well, that's good news. Crossing my fingers I make it through, then. Thanks for your help!

Should FAP applicants who already have their letters on AMCAS not expect any e-mail until the interview/rejection e-mail then?

No, if you get to LOR request stage, everyone gets the email stating to either send letters or if you have it on AMCAS to not take any further action.

And then another message indicating that your letters are received and you are being reviewed for interview, just like those not on FAP. only difference is that no action is required on your part.

Do people on FAP receive an email about a fee waiver being applied instead of the fee request email or nothing until (if) the letter request email?

You will get an email like this:

"Dear sahmoc,

Mayo Medical School has recently received your application from American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS). The $120 Mayo Medical School application fee has been waived. Please note that Mayo Medical School does not have a secondary application. When letters of recommendation are needed for your file, you will be notified via email.

If you have indicated you are taking a future MCAT, your application will be considered upon receipt of the scores. When additional information is required for your file, you will be notified via email.

Thank you for your interest in Mayo Medical School. For information about the school, please visit our website at www.mayo.edu/mms.

Sincerely,

Gina M. Vitali-Räsänen
Admissions Coordinator
Mayo Medical School"

I got a LOR request 🙂 I have such low stats I'm not sure how that happened.... Hope it's as selective as some say, that would totally make my day! Still waiting for my committee letter to be done, though 🙁 hopefully within the week.

mind sharing stats? I am sure you have amazing ECs or a compelling story. Mayo is really good about identifying factors beyond academics...

also, when did you receive the email from them stating they received your AMCAS?

My sGPA is <3.4 and my MCAT is a 30+, pretty balanced. I'm a non-traditional and worked in another field for a few years before going back to school, but I had a pretty significant drop one semester due to personal reasons. I didn't mention those reasons once in my primaries, which is why I was surprised I got a LOR request. I'm being realistic though and unless one of my letter writers wrote in gold, I'm not expecting the II although that would be a DREAM come true!

I received the email July 10th.

Good luck to you if you're applying!

[EDIT]: stats changed for anonymity purposes

Sure, I'll PM you later tonight..

Ahh! From your lips to Mayo's decision-making ears.

How fun would it be to come on here at 2:30 a.m. ET and "bump."
Haha I would be like ...whaaaat.

Ah I'm hoping to hear about II's from everyone soon! Would be great. Every day I get more antsy and I will, until I'm finally complete! Eek.

What's the most recent estimate on # of LoR requests received? Around 1200 for 4000 applicants?

Do they let you know if you're not in the running anymore?

it does not seem like there is a consensus. i've heard various numbers mentioned, but someone said they heard from the school itself that it was around 1700 so i'd go with that.

Dang, I do not feel as special now

It's been over a week since I submitted my primary to Mayo yet I still I haven't received any emails about a fee request. Anyone else on the same boat?
