Yeah, I'd love to get one of the last interview slots.

At one point I told the guy on the phone to just rip the bandaid off but he wouldn't tell me either way. He did start cracking up, so I guess I'll count the call a win.
 
so if we have just had silence are we basically out of the running? (no pre-interview hold or any form of communication)?

Post secondary rejection. No beaches and burritos for this applicant.

It was a typo, therefore the email is invalid. That and my status page still says hold for interview and blank under Final Decision letter sent. *wishful thinking*.

Rejected as well. I'm so heartbroken as well. I don't know why it seems like i set myself up for disappointment when i knew any UC would be very difficult to get into. Congrats to everyone else though! Man. It hurts so bad lol :-(

I feel your pain. I know it's a long shot, but I so wanted to return to CA for school.
 
Dang guys... I'm really sorry to hear about all the rejections. I submitted the secondary later-ish (late August) so I'm bracing myself to get that rejection soon =/
 
For those who got II, is your "final decision letter sent" blank or filled with a date?
 
Waitlisted post interview. Disappointing since I thought I did well :/

Yup. I haven't received any form of communication either. Do you mind telling me when you were complete? I received my secondary invite pretty late so I was not complete until October and I am assuming that is likely why I have not heard anything yet.
 
Hey folks, I've been a silent stalker here for quite a while now, but here's my experience with UCSD:

Secondary submitted: Mid-September
Interview: 1/08
Decision: 1/27 - Accepted!

Best of luck to those of you still in limbo. I know nothing that a random internet-goer can ease the stress during this process, but I wish you all the best. It's been a pleasure (stalking) with you these past years.
 
I am in a similar category, submitted secondary mid-sept and have heard nothing since... I have updated grades from last semester, do you think I could send an update with my grades?? If so, how would i do that?
 
Curious if anyone who received a pre-interview rejection in the last day or 2 had received the email awhile ago that said you were on a waitlist until the end of january and they would look at your app again at that time?
 
Withdrew over a month ago via email with no response. Received a very kindly worded rejection email today. No ill feelings, but I find it amusing. Good luck to everyone who gets to enjoy the fabulous weather and the potential for wonderful time on the waves. 👍

I have not heard back from them either since the pre-interview hold last fall.
 
On my portal it says that I was put on hold on 11/21. Still no rejection so holding on to hope!
 
I got an interview invite?? Been checking the portal like 3 times a day last week. Woke up this Saturday morning and checked the portal just because (7:30 est). There's now a button for "MMI Schedule" to sign up, but there are no dates listed when I press it. Are there anymore interview dates left?

Didn't receive an email. Not in spam either. Complete since 10/4/14. Was never on any hold or anything, but got rejected from MD/PhD last Friday 1/23 and they asked me if I wanted my app to be forwarded to the MD-only commitee...yes of course. So I suspected my application went to the very bottom of the pile for review.

There's no "check communication status" page to check for emails sent like other school, right? Now it's the weekend, I guess I'll wait till Monday to call. OOS btw. LizzyM upper 70s

This is exciting, but at the same time it doesn't seem real after waiting for so long. I'd love to go here. One of my top choices! I guess I'll wait till this email/interview date gets sorted out before I tell my best friend and mom! lol

I'm in the same boat as you. I was so surprised when I saw the MMI link, but there are no dates available. I will continue to be checking regularly if dates pop up! :luck:
 
Never mind guys. I had an interview date open up and scheduled it for feb 26th. About 30 minutes later, UCSD called me on my cell. I spoke with Brian Zeglen. He said the invite was a mistake. A coding error on their website. I knew it was too good to be true! Good thing he called - I was just about to buy a plane ticket! There are many other well-deserving applicants still on hold he said. Oh well. Good luck to the rest of you guys! I'd absolutely love to go here, but I guess only in my dreams now haha!

That same thing happened to me with UC Irvine. Its terrible because they get your hopes up so much and then crush them 🙁

As much as I respect UCSD as an institution, I have to say that the way they manage their operations is BY FAR the worst I've seen of any school, both for undergrad and for medical school. It does not reflect well on them, given their caliber. Truly, I am sorry that had to happen to you, it must have sucked. But I'm also sure you'll be fine, if not better, taking your business elsewhere.
