I certainly don't want to tell you what to do -- I'm an OOS applicant as well. Instead, I figured I'd leave some stats here for you to consider.
The 10th %ile MCAT score for matriculants was a 30, last year
Last year, 20 OOS applicants ended up matriculating (compared to 105IS), and only 7.4% of OOS applicants even got interviews.
La Jolla is a beautiful place, but those stats are really working against applicants like you and me. Now, anything is possible, and if your application is exceptionally strong elsewhere, you could get an interview. And if you get an interview, you have the chance to blow everyone away. Even so, the numbers are still working against you.
Its your life, and your decision. I just thought I'd offer those two statistics to help educate your decision.
