Congrats on the interviews everyone! What are the earliest interview dates available?

Congrats on the interviews everyone! What are the earliest interview dates available?

From the interview menu, there are 2 options available: 10/2 and 10/9. Based on the previous pattern, they won't release new interview dates until at least 1 of these dates fill up.

woke up to an e-bill notice, telling me that my "monthly Billing Statement for account is now available for viewing and payment". did anyone else get this?

I got this too!

Another bit from the email:
"The last day to waive health insurance for fall is September 26th."
I'm surprised they haven't sent out a correction of some sort yet.

I got one too. I checked my billing statement and it just says $0.00 due ...

it's normal. almost everyone that has a single sign on gets one of these. Doesn't mean anything, just a system message.

the health insurance is for students already enrolled in undergrad or grad programs. they cna chose to opt out of the UC health insurance plan if they have their own

I get WHY it happened and what it means, but that still doesn't mean it's normal or appreciated. There ought to be some way in the system to mark students as 'inactive' or otherwise off that mailing list. It's not cool to send an email about student accounts and bills to those who you haven't even invited to interview, let alone accepted, yet.

no arguments there haha

If I don't get a secondary by now, I'm pretty much rejected huh?

anybody know if UCSD is receptive to update letters pre-interview? i have some pretty big updates (publication, and a few others). thanks!

not receptive to updates at anytime

ahh okay did you call them and ask? what if you're abroad and can only make it back during a certain period for interviews?
Ideally that would have been noted somewhere on the primary/secondary, I think. Idk about UCSD specifically, but I know a lot of schools ask for any dates that you might be abroad. That being said, though, I called the admissions department to push my interview date back and they were supremely accommodating. Like I was really impressed at how sweet they were. So if you have to call and reschedule an interview for travel/abroad program/whatever reason, I bet they'd treat you the same way.

The admissions director said that during one of their SoM/med school application process presentations. They will let you send in updates, but won't tkae those in to considerations.

and like wolverine said, if you need accommodations for interviews, just call them ask for it once you get the II

II? I'd be proud to be a merman/triton! (And La Jolla... 😍).

Thought this was the end of IIs for me, but glad to be proven otherwise. Looks like there's still plenty of invites to go around. Two dates were open – 10/16 and 10/21. Good luck to those still waiting! :luck:

Thank you! I've heard nothing but awesome things about the free clinic. You have an amazing undergrad... hope you'll have the option of continuing your education here. 😀

got a II yesterday! my first one. 2' completed 8/3. IS.
The dates that were open were 10/16 & 10/21. 11/3 showed up for a second & then disappeared, so I don't know what's up with that.

Does anyone have any insight or suggestions about UCSD's MMI format?

MMIs are pretty different than the typical regular med school interview. They really are designed to test how you think on your feet. If preparing gives you peace of mind / confidence here's a good thread that helped me get into the MMI mindset (whatever that means).

Good luck

Having had 2 MMIs already (not at UCSD), I'm of the opinion you can't really prepare for them. You'll have plenty of time to read the prompt and figure out what you're going to say, and the interviewer has several follow-up questions most likely. Overall, I think they're more enjoyable than the traditional interview. At least this way, your fate is not in the hands of 1 individual.

Hey, did y'all receive a "complete" email at some point? I submitted late July and just realized I never received one. When I log into my status page, it has a date next to "Received completed secondary application." Does that mean I'm complete, including LOR? Sorry if this is a silly question.

Also, has anyone been put on "hold for interview" yet?

I never got any sort of complete email, just an email saying that my payment went through. But yes, if you see that the secondary application is complete, you should be all good to go.

Is it safe to assume rejection if I haven't been invited to interview? Complete 7/25 LizzyM ~71.

It doesn't look like many OOS applicants have heard back yet, correct?

I think it's far too early to assume anything of the sort, but perhaps I'm overly optimistic.
In the Irvine thread an MS1 stated that he/she was complete late August and didn't hear a peep until February for an interview invite. I think the process is quite random and it's still really early right now.

Yay, got the secondary today! LizzyM 77+

(OOS resident)
I know y'all are way ahead with interviews and such, but my primary wasn't processed until 8/22 and my MCAT didn't come in until 9/9. So there's still hope for people that weren't super early like me! Hopefully I'll be one of the lucky OOS residents that gets an interview (please GOD!). Out of 2,600 OOS that applied, only 190 got interviews, and 60 accepted 🤔

Rejected from their MSTP recently. They sent me an e-mail telling me so and asking if I am interested in MD only and if so, to e-mail back. Did this happen to anyone else recently, and if so, have they heard from MD only?

When were you complete PP?

For any who are curious, I have rescheduled my interview twice now, using the online portal. (I'm pushing it back due to class schedules/I wanted it after october 15th just in case..). It caused no fuss whatsoever, unlike at other schools.

So if you wanna push your date back, but you're worried about causing a racket in the admissions office, I wouldn't sweat it.

has anybody received post secondary rejections for normal MD?

Is anyone scheduled to interview for 10/30 (day before Halloween!) and willing to trade for 11/4?

I have a scheduling conflict on 11/4 and I'll be visiting California the week of 10/30. If interested, PM me!

Sooooo people who interviewed early...next Wednesday is the day!

Last year they did not send out decisions until Oct. 22 for the people that interviewed early...do we know for sure it will be the 15th?
