Has anyone got a waitlist email from here or are you just automatically on the waitlist if you didn't match?
 
OOS, just got an email that I am on the alternate list :/ interviewed in November.
 
rejected today post interview. OOS. sadness 😢
 
If you don't match are you automatically waitlisted??
 
OOS and alternate :/ Any advice on sending updates? And does anyone know what the odds are for getting accepted off the waitlist if you're OOS?

As long as you didn't match to a higher ranked school, you should be on the wait list barring any extreme instances that occurred during interview day. You can always email admissions to confirm that you are on the wait list. Good luck!

Also, be sure to attend Welcome Weekend if you can make it because its a great way to meet your future classmates and its a lot of fun.
For those waitlisted, don't lose hope because quite a few people end up getting in off of the waitlist. There is still a lot of time.

Pre-matched. IS cGPA 3.63, sGPA 3.83, MCAT 32 (on retake), good EC's, no research.

On behalf of the University of Texas School of Medicine at San Antonio I want to thank you for interviewing with us. The entering class of 2015 is currently filled and unfortunately it was not possible to offer you an acceptance. However, between now and the start date, July 20, 2015, you may become eligible for admission to the program as a result of one or more of our accepted applicants withdrawing to pursue other plans. Unless you ask us to do otherwise, your name will automatically be placed in our alternate pool of applicants from which students are selected by the Admissions Committee should a position become available. Should you not want to be included in the alternate pool or at any time you are accepted at a higher choice school, I would ask that you please inform us by email at [email protected].

Each year the committee selects between 10 and 30 students from the pool prior to the start date. Please note that it is a pool from which the committee selects, and not a ranked list. It is absolutely essential that you notify us of any changes in your email address or phone number. All correspondence will take place via email, and a follow-up phone call if you do not respond within 48 hours. Thereafter you will have 7 days to let us know your decision. In order to expeditiously maintain a full class, from June 15 to July 20, you will have 48 hours to both respond and provide a decision. If you have either coursework or MCAT score updates you can forward directly to me prior to the start of classes.

I always thought UTHSCSA only waitlists a certain # of people. But from the email, it looks like it is in tune with everyone else.
 
Someone was rejected post-interview on the previous page.

strange.. if you look at the post above you about being on the alternate list... dr.j basically says that everyone who has interviewed with them has been automatically put on an alternate list. "Unless you ask us to do otherwise, your name will automatically be placed in our alternate pool of applicants from which students are selected by the Admissions Committee should a position become available"

Yeah I think it may be specific to each person. Mine was quite a bit different. There was no mention of an alternate list and basically said I should figure out what's weak in my application and improve upon that and apply next year if I don't get in anywhere else.

I think we might've gotten the same email. IS, post-interview, too.
 
Rejected post-interview...on the one hand I'm glad I wasn't holding out until June 1...on the other hand it's like if SA rejected me from the waitlist, what are my odds of getting off UTH's or UTSW's? 🙁

Keep your head up! You don't know until you know. This admissions stuff is so unpredictable. I wasn't even interviewed at TCOM or Tech, yet UTSW gave me an interview. Not what I would have predicted.
 
has anyone looked into how big the waitlist pool is?
 
UTMB is 300. Likely around the same size, but there no saying. I'm wait listed too. Guess all you can do is send in update letters and an additional rec!

Do we send update letters directly to the dean? It seems a little odd to be sending it to him and not to an admissions office.
 
I emailed him and that's all he said to me. Scan and email to him.
 
Was accepted this morning off waitlist. had sent Dr. Jones letter of intent on match day. I had also prematched to UThealth

Are you in-state or OOS? The comment about match day leads me to believe in-state, but a prematch this early would leave me to believe OOS because none of the previous years threads had any prematches this early.

I think there is a misunderstanding. I think what he/she means is that she had a prematch to UTH that she was holding but ranked UTHSCSA as #1 but did not match there on match day. So basically he/she sent a letter of intent to UTHSCSA saying that they will drop UTH if accepted to UTHSCSA which is what happend.

I think he means he prematched earlier/prior to match day during the normal 'prematch' period.

Lol I just realized the confusion. I said "a prematch this early", but meant "an acceptance off of the waitlist this early". I was suggesting that him being accepted off of the waitlist this soon after match day likely means he is OOS. I just wanted to know if they had already given out an in-state waitlist acceptance, which they haven't (I called earlier today).

I would guess that they are in-state. OOS cannot participate in pre-match or match.
