This has some info about how they assign a priority score
Great find! Good morning reading haha
I think I just got voluntold!Can someone post a tl;dr?
At least we know we have options if we get rejected. 😉I think I just got voluntold!
Basically this poor guy with a 3.0 and 27 mcat applied several times to VCU and got rejected and pulled out this claim in his last app cycle that he was disabled. Basically they say how the score of 1 is the best and 5 is the worst and it sounds like two people read your file and come up with a score. If you get a 3 it sounds like you can interview like someone had already posted. This dude made a bunch of ridiculous requests and I stopped reading at page 16. But that's about it.
I read this, and I felt like VCU was very kind to that applicant and hope they are to me. On the other hand, the applicant was extremely entitled and presumptuous. I don't know about posting that link here tho.http://valawyersweekly.com/wp-files/pdf/009-3-565.pdf

I read the whole thing, his claim was thrown out, and it gave a little more clarity on VCU scale. Also said that the Dean unilaterally gave that guy an interview (cause he was going to get rejected pre interview) and he blew it.I think I just got voluntold!

Just came home from working reading the rest of this thread and LOL ed
Thank you it cheered me up
Are we allowed to send in more than 3 LORs - I know we are required to send in 3 but how many optional ones can we send?
Whats strange is that my status only says "Your file is complete, and has been forwarded to the Admissions Committee for further decision."I'm still at complete!
Edit: this is the exact wording --
"Your M.D. file is now complete. The Admissions Committee will now do a comprehensive review of your application. Once the review is complete, your file will be prioritized, and interviews will be granted based on your priority score and the date your file was completed."
Edit 2: I submitted 7/10/14

WHERE ARE PEOPLE GETTING THESE STATUSESYour M.D. file is now complete. The Admissions Committee will now do a comprehensive review of your application. Once the review is complete, your file will be prioritized, and interviews will be granted based on your priority score and the date your file was completed. Please do not call the Admissions Office requesting special dates. Please continue to read all paragraphs below.
UGHHHH
on the main page right when you log in!WHERE ARE PEOPLE GETTING THESE STATUSES
no i mean compared to the other completion statuses, something is fishy!on the main page right when you log in!

"Your file is complete, and has been forwarded to the Admissions Committee for further decision."What other completion statuses are there? Mine is the same as the one quoted. I wouldn't think too much of it.

yea i guess im getting worked up over it, i just like this school
Are you supposed to email the immigration documents?
I'm starting to see the same people in several of the application threads... nice to encounter some familiar faces! I was invited to fill out the secondary two nights ago. I don't know about you guys but I like these ethical essay prompts a lot more than the "what makes you special?" questions.
You got the magical "very" word! Congrats!Got this status update: "The Committee's file review indicates that they are very interested in your candidacy. There is another increase in the applicant pool this year, but we are trying to get all candidates at your priority score interviewed as soon as possible if we have an adequate number of interview slots. Please anticipate an e-mail from us regarding a possible interview date."
Not sure what this means either, but from people's posts it looks like it could be a good thing! Fingers crossed!
Awesome! you're most likely gonna be interviewed! Mind sharing stats? 🙂Got this status update: "The Committee's file review indicates that they are very interested in your candidacy. Congrats!OOS, 31, 3.7 cGPA, 3.5 sGPA - been out of school for a couple years, so I have had lots of research and service experiences. Complete 7/16.
still listed as "your file has been forwarded to the admissions committee". Any idea what order they're viewing applicants in? It's not time submitted. I'm guessing by mcat scores.
I've had that same status for a while (submitted July 4). I don't think its by MCAT score, it could be by GPA and MCAT score together
my gpa is really good though. my mcat is like 2 pts below their average. im pretty sure it's the mcat. Either way it's a silly way of doing things. what about those who sincerely put effort into their app and submit early? it's ridiculous that they arent viewed early.
I'm sure its more complex than what we're thinking, I only say it can't be just MCAT because mine is several points higher than their average and people with lower MCATs than mine have had status updates already.

I am also well above average on all aspects and I have this status: "Your M.D. file is now complete. The Admissions Committee will now do a comprehensive review of your application." So I haven't even been forwarded yet. But, at this point, we are all getting a fair chance so there is no reason to stress. 🙂I think you are right in thinking it is more complex! MRH, just for peace of mind, my GPA and especially my MCAT are significantly higher than their average and I have the same status as you all...lol, hopin' all of us get that status changed soon!
Yep, we just got wait, I would be curious to know if the people with invites were ED or just regular decision?

Sorry, I looked through the first few pages but not all 10 - the prompt is?
Imagine that you are a family physician and are seeing a 15 year old girl for menstrual cramps. Her mother has accompanied her for this visit. When you examine the patient without her mother present, she tells you that she is sexually active. She begs you not to tell her mother because of her family’s strong values against teen sex. Discuss your next steps.
I can't remember where I saw this one - is this also on it?
The admissions committee requests that you write an essay that provides us with some insight into why you would like to join VCU School of Medicine. The essay has a limited length, so be certain that you know your material will fit in the allotted space (approximately 500-600 words).
