When is the deadline for when accepted students can no longer hold multiple spots? April 30th? I don't get why Howard would interview all the way until May. That's usually the time when most schools start accepting students of the waitlist. Their cycle and timeline has been strange, to say the least. Wish they wrap up their interviewing in March, like most schools & not have us dangeling along for such a long period of time.

Apparently this year they started late, and then had a few things happen (ie. Blizzard) that stalled there cycle. I look at it this way. If they are interviewing until May that means that they haven't even come close to filling up there class yet if they have 2 months of interviews to go still. So while right now is normally the time when you would be looking to accept elsewhere/retake MCAT/begin preparing for next cycle you can still hold a sliver of hope that Howard will still extend you an interview invite. Interviews in May means you can still get an invite as late as mid april.

Hopefully, they still decide on a group of students by March 15th who they will let go (sounds horrible ik, but i think it's better to know earlier if they want you rather than play with emotions by continuing to stall this process out). The students left will know that they are still in the running for interviews and the others can begin to accept elsewhere or reapply.

Keep your head up. You've grinded 4 years of Undergrad what's a few more weeks. A few weeks of sacrifice for a lifetime of paradise.......

If you've been accepted elsewhere and had an interview and Howard hasn't given you a response by the 30th I'm sure you could contact your accepted schools and tell them you are waiting on one decision/get Howard to make a decision knowing that the deadline for your other school(s) is/are there
 
Does anyone know if it is beneficial to attend their Friday Open House as an applicant ( I have not interviewed yet)? I know you cannot speak to admissions or anything but maybe just to ask about your application, show interest etc.? Especially since they do not answer their phones or emails.

The open house doesn't really give much of an opportunity to personally ask about your application. They would answer questions about the application process in general, but they won't look into your individual application. The larger part of the open house is a tour around the med school. If you want to actually see the med school, then you should go to the open house.

I would go. When I went they had a sign in and the guy asked who was applying. Idk how much it would help, but there's a reason they asked .
 
Anyone knows how long after the "out of committee" email you get a decision usually?

Just got an out of committee email(3/10). Would love to know how long it took to get the final decision also.

I never got the out of committee email before my acceptance.
 
So does the out of committee e-mail/we'll notify you when your letter is signed mean that you've been accepted but we can't tell you yet?
 
Hey guys! Just wanted to share some news with those of you who are still waiting for an ii. Apparently, they will continue to send out interview invites.....probably through April. A friend of mine, who is a 3rd year medical student at Howard, did me the favor of going by the admissions office and asking. I had a mini-heart attack when I saw the above post about the invites ending mid-March, but I guess that's not the case. So there may still be hope for those of us who are still waiting.
 
Did anyone else just get an email asking if they are still interested in attending Howard? Very strange and seems very disorganized but I'm going with it...

Also the email said they will be interviewing through April just FYI

I did not receive the email...should I be concerned? So much uncertainty surrounding this school -_-

I got the same email while I was at work. They are basically saying that they have received so many applications that they'd rather not review all of them and asking if you already got another school so they can take you out of the list of applicants to review. I was quite surprised because I thought they were silently rejecting me like most med schools I applied to. Very very strange. I'm not putting my hopes up for this email. Just thought it was strange.

i didnt get anything :/ this is so frustrating
 
since march 15th is a deadline to send updates to AAMC I'm really hoping they send a ton of acceptances to the people they interviewed within the next couple of days....it's a weak argument but a man can hope right? :nod:just my 2 cents
 
Let's say we didn't get that email, is that kind of like a silent rejection?
 
I don't know what to make of this either :nailbiting: I asked my SO what he thought (since he's not nearly as neurotically invested in this as I am) and his most optimistic suggestion was that maybe there are several ppl assigned to reaching out to applicants, and while one person decided they didn't mind spending their late Friday afternoon sending out emails to a gazillion applicants, the other adcoms decided to wait til Monday. Let's just keep hope alive!
