2015-2016 Howard University Application Thread

I still have heard nothing back. I applied in late September. I have an interview at another school coming up and just had another interview this week. It is bizzare how long they are taking.
 
For everyone waiting who received the out of committee email stating a January 30th decision, I called this afternoon and was told the letters should be signed by the Dean tomorrow or early next week.
 
Does anyone know if they have the open house tomorrow? It's supposed to be the first Friday of the month, which is tomorrow. I tried to call today during the specified times, but as usual no one picks up!!!!
Hoping to ask them some questions that I can't get answered through email or call.

maybe you can ask in the virtual aamc fair they have going on till 8PM today. Howard's adcoms are in the fair. Here is the link that someone posted above: https://www.aamcmedschoolfair.com/

Congrats! This gives me hope too! Haha. At the fair, the adcoms said interview season may go on till late April and even till May until the class is full. They also said there were major technical errors in their secondary system. Just an FYI 🙂

Thank you so much! I'm still waiting anxiously to hear some good news from Howard. I had about a thousand problems with AMCAS- as a transfer student, they gave me a lot of trouble with verifying my transcript--I was literally on the phone with them every day for two months. Everyone in the AMCAS office knew me and my case by name. As a result, I literally could not apply to any other school. In fact, I had missed the transcript deadline at Howard as well, but I begged the admissions office to grant me an extension. HUCM is really the only school that I care about getting a response from because of how badly I want to go there. Hope to hear back from Howard soon!
 
And once again I have begun to hit the refresh button every 5 minutes......
 
is there a particular day that they send II or is it random?
 
Me either. 🙁 Hoping for a second look too!!

Thanks fam! I'm sure you'll hear some good news soon. With Howard only interviewing 300 applicants, your odds shoot up exponentially once you interview. I just hope you don't have to wait as long as I did. It was brutal lol.

I know the feeling! I interviewed in October! They got delayed with holidays then again with the snow. I'm going crazy here!

I interviewed in November and got accepted in December. Id call if I was you.

Yeah I would give them a call as well. Especially since you got the January 30th decision email.

Congratulations! When did you have your interview? I'm trying to figure out how they determine when you go into committee. I was told I should know something by January 30th and then 30 days from your interview date, so I'm still patiently waiting...🙁

Thanks! I interviewed on December 8th so it took about 2 months for me to get my decision. I see that you interviewed sometime mid-January, did you get an email saying that a decision has been made?

No, I never got an email saying that a decision has been made. How long did it take you to get that email?

I didn't get the "decision has been made" email until January 11th, about a month after the interview. That email will tell you that the decision is made, and that you can call when your letter is signed by the dean. It seems like this year they haven't been doing the calls and have been sending email acceptances instead. Within the interview packet, there's a page that goes over the timeline after interview that says if you haven't received a "decision has been made" email within 30 days, to call the admissions office to inquire about your status. So if it is approaching the 30 day mark for you, a call may be something you want to consider. I know the wait is tough, but we had the big snow storm here that seems to have really delayed the admissions process on all fronts. Just remember you've crossed the biggest hurdle of getting an interview (an early interview by Howard's timeline). They only interview 300 applicants and give offers of acceptance to the majority of these applicants. If you didn't present any red flags during your interview, I'm sure I'll see you during orientation in July should you decide to attend 🙂.

Your positivity is so refreshing lol. I'm approaching the 30 days I think I'll call them sometime next week. Just hope they don't think I'm too pushy...
 
Hi everyone- hope everything is going well. Still haven't heard back from Howard, and it's been on my mind every day. I've been praying to God daily for some good news. Also, congrats to those who've been accepted to Howard! You all are so blessed, and I hope to be in your position soon, God willing.
 
I received the "Decision has been made... but letter not signed yet" e-mail today. Does anyone know the typical wait time before I hear back about what the decision is? Thanks!
