2015-2016 University of Arizona Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
A staff member of the admissions office said that for those who interviewed in early October (I interviewed 10/3), acceptances would be sent out starting early November. So it seems like it takes them 4-6 weeks post-interview to send an update. I'd say that's pretty timely actually.
Thank you 🙂 I'll chill out til next week haha.

Haha I totally get how you're feeling... but don't get too hyped up as it can make for a very unproductive day (I'm speaking from experience haha). This other school makes phone calls for acceptances on specific days and I was pathologically checking my phone and their website for an update lol.

I heard the same thing. I guess I was just under the impression that when acceptances went out you would for sure, without fail, get one of the two emails. Either a hold email or an acceptance. Oh well. Here's hoping for next week!

Did those who were accepted see the check mark next to File Under Reciew go from red to green?

And congrats guys 😛

This will be interesting when *hopefully* I get accepted. I'm red/green color deficient. And I remember on my interview date, Patrick said that the earliest we will hear back is in 6 weeks.

We could be classmates one day! I'd be curious to know if I met either one of you at the interview day! 🙂
I interviewed in September

In regards to this, under review has a green check mark. In addition, there is a new line beneath it with "accepted" with a green check mark next to it.

Also, there is a new tab titled "Offer"

Just got the "hold" email. Looks like it got sent out a day late. Unless they sent out more acceptances today.

Also, the subject says Status Update and not Acceptances like last year. They must have realized how cruel that was. Haha.

so weird! I got the "file under review" email just after 5. THIS PROCESS :arghh:

I love how we are all trying to track some kind of pattern haha

I got the hold email too but did not get the file under review prior. Does that mean that they put me on hold but has not made the decision yet?

Just got "application under review" email post-interview...hmmm

I think it means we have been fully reviewed and we just didn't make the cut this round. They only take a certain number of applicants each time and we just weren't good enough to be the first 🙁 lol. Where as the under review people are still being processed. My guess is that most of them interviewed in October or more recently than us. Both are better than rejections. But it's still a bummer. Haha. But I'm just trying to stay hopeful. It's definitely not over yet.

Of course I don't mind! I'll post with full detail for you guys and future years of applicants.

Secondary Received: 07/10
Secondary Submitted: 07/19
Interview Invite: 08/14
Interview Date: 08/28

You seem cool. Congratulations on your acceptance. You have made it clear you deserve it. Good luck with your career in medicine.

Also got the status update . Does Tucson gives rejections post-interview , or do we all straight get this e-mail if not accepted the first time ? Trying to stay positive .

Everyone that is processed gets it. They don't do hard rejections until March. So every time acceptances are sent out you'll get the same update letter or an acceptance until March. Then they compile the wait list and send out hard rejections.

The University of Arizona College of Medicine-Tucson sent out a round of acceptances today. Although you have not been selected at this time, you are still an active candidate in our applicant pool. This is not a rejection letter. You will remain eligible for an acceptance at any time during the season. It is our goal to keep you updated about admissions decisions.

🙁(((

I got the same thing. 😢

Accepted 10/28!! (OOS, non-traditional first time applicant) I could not be more excited!

I do see from the previous posts that some people are wondering what interview dates got acceptances thus far. I interviewed 10/3.

Also, I had checked the portal the day prior, on 10/27, and I still had an exclamation mark on "file under review". On the 28th, it changed to a check mark and an accepted line and offer tab were added. I did not get an email beforehand saying that my application was under review before the acceptance. So I am not sure if that is something they are doing universally or not.

I hope this information helps in some way!
Congratulations to everyone who also got an acceptance! And, GOOD LUCK to everyone still in the process!! I wish the best for all of you! 🙂

Congratulations to those of you who were accepted here! For those of you who were accepted, are you having trouble submitting your answer to the question about transcripts after accepting your seat under the offer tab? Not sure if my answer is going through because after I hit submit it takes me back to the same question, and I don't get confirmation that my answer was submitted. Anyone else having this issue?

Same thing here as well!

So I received an email today inviting me to complete my secondary. I'm a little confused because based on my MCAT score (really low), I was not expecting to get passed screenings for secondaries or an interview from anywhere. I read on here how they take >/=24 MCAT for screening. But mine was lower than that... I think it was a mistake or that they just want me to submit because they want me to give them money. Any thoughts?

EDIT: Just saw on their website where it says the range is a 21-37. I guess the other components of my application are strong enough. I'd love the opportunity to attend UA! We'll see...

I just had a look in the MSAR and UA's 10th% is a 27 and they only consider candidates who have scored a 24. It's possible that U of A doesn't have a stats based auto-reject but I think I might save the money for a retake if I were in your shoes.

Yeah, I noticed that on MSAR as well. But then their website says 21. So I wasn't sure what to think of it.

For those who received interview invites today, did any of you take the new MCAT, if so, do you mind sharing your score?

Congrats to all who received interview invites. If y'all dont mind sharing, when was your application complete? I submitted my secondary late September and still haven't heard anything.

For those who have interviewed, how useful was prereception the day before? How important did you feel it was to attend? It's quite difficult for me to find work coverage and I'm wondering if it I need to make it a priority.

Also, any tips for the interview itself? Thanks in advance.

Not sure if anyone else has seen this 🙂 little more info into what happens after our interview.

You mostly meet with students, which for me was good to hear more about their individual esperieneces and ask a lot of questions. You will also have lunch with the students and a tour on the day of, but bot too much time to chat. It's not mandatory but it just gave me a feeling of whether or not I would hit with the student body. Good luck!

It seems like the October people heard back the first week of December based on last years thread. It would have been nice to hear back quickly but oh well.
Anyone think another round of decisions will go out Friday or Monday? (2014 it was 10/28, 11/7 for the first two) *twiddles thumbs*

All I know is that huskygirl interviewed after me. So while I'm super stoked for her. It has made me extremely nervous. Haha.
Men, yes, I remember you gave me feedback! Hope you've heard by now, but honestly I wasn't expecting an answer until end of November, so there's still time
