2015-2016 University of Arizona Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Interviewing here on Feb 12. For those who have interviewed here already, what time did your interview day start and how long did it last? Just trying to plan my trip.
Edit: Sorry I should have just looked at the agenda. I got it figured out. Thanks.

Are we assuming the pre-II holds are rejections at this point? Does anyone know anything about previous cycles and their luck with pre-II holds

I would say that a pre-II hold is more likely to result in a rejection, but it's definitely not one hundred percent. A met a girl on my interview day that received an II a week before the last interview day and ended up getting in. She was in-state and URM so take that for what it is. But at the end of the day it isn't over until you get that rejection email!

To whom it may concern,

My name is Swoll Cat, THE SWOLLEST OF ALL CATS, and I interviewed at the UACOM - Tucson in early September, in The Year of Our Lord Grumpy Cat 2015. Since then, I was notified in late October, and then again in December, of my waitlist status. Though I do love Tucson with all of my tiny little feline heart, they have not since returned the love and affection that I have shown towards them. Maybe they're just not cat people. Maybe they're dog people. Regardless, I will continue to PURRsue other activities to keep myself busy right meow.

did they add more interview dates? Cause their website says Feb. 5th is the last Applicant Visit Day????

The scheduling tool (on your account for secondaries and interviews) shows Feb 26 as the last interview date. I don't think the event calendar on the regular website has been updated for the remainder of the month of February just yet. Hope this helps & best of luck!! 🙂

Got the pre-interview email back in December. Hopefully will hear something.

They don't allow us to send updates to our applications, do they? I think I remember that being the case.

Good luck to everyone. Hopefully this will be our year.

I emailed admissions about sending in a letter of intent, but they told me that they don't accept those post-interview.

Just a little tid-bit from admissions: they've made ~85 acceptances so far, with interviews still going til the end of February.
Good luck all!

Thank you so much for the update!! Any idea when the next round of acceptances will go out?

I interviewed here last weekend and they told us we should hear by mid/late February, but that they were still going through the last two interview groups.

I interviewed early Oct and was told we'd hear in November but I never did! It has only been silence 🙁

Not even the "you are under review" emails people in this thread have been getting? Have you contacted them regarding your status? I have a friend who contacted a different school and they told him they forgot to send his waitlist e-mail. And then a week later he was accepted.

Sorry, forgot to mention that! Yeah I got two of those saying I'm under review.

I'm in the same position there Dr Doom. Under review email twice, interviewed mid October (probably the week after you). Hopefully we'll get information soon...
I probably interviewed same day as you. I wouldn't expect to hear anything until March/April. Several of the schools I interviewed told me "don't expect to hear anything till March" and for those that didn't such as Arizona, it seems they will follow a similar policy. And please don't join the crowd that asks me "Have you gotten into medical school yet?"
P.S. Arizona, remember that I love you.

Given up hope, here. I was extremely hopeful since I was very interested. Oh well. Tough ****.

Good luck to all who have interviews in the next couple weeks and good luck to all you post interviewers waiting to hear back. Its tough but hang in there!

Any chance of hearing anything today? I know there were some acceptances two weeks ago but I got no communication from them- not even a "You haven't been selected this round."
Ditto! Here's to hoping! Otherwise....Happy Friday SDNers!

Looking at last year's forum, it seems like there was a round of post-interview decisions sent out at the end of January. Would love to hear something from them...

No email this past week concerning a possible hold, rejection, or last round II... :/

Does anyone know how many acceptances usually go out? I know the class size is 115, but not everyone who is accepted matriculates, so do you know how many total acceptances U of A gives out?

Looking at past year forums, it seems like they accept 180-200 students. I'm an applicant as well though, so I have no way of confirming this.

If I remember from earlier in this thread, someone said that they are interviewing fewer people this year and will likely have a 50% acceptance rate post interview (including eventual waitlist acceptances).

Did they mention anything about this at your interview? During the interview date I attended, we were told that the amount of interviews would probably be similar to prior years. It was not a definite statement, but that is what we were told.

They told us (in October) they would be reducing the number of people they interview this year so that the acceptance rate would come out to be about 50% of those interviewed (about 420 interviews). That said, I wouldn't be at all surprised if they decided to interview more.

Crickets. All I hear are crickets.

Last year, I got that "you might still get an interview" email on 2/2 and my interview invite came on 2/5.

Was really hoping to get an interview here, I love this school! Anyone know if people have been invited to interview on the 2/26 date yet?

An update on what they told us during my recent (last week) interview: they're interviewing ~530 people this year and the committee is now meeting bi-weekly.

While I had also heard they were meeting biweekly, I feel like it's been much longer than that since decisions were released. But my sense of time is probably clouded by my impatience and my desperation

The last time someone mentioned they were accepted on this thread was January 15/16th. I guess it is possible someone was accepted after then but don't use SDN.

Agreed. Every time I login to the portal and still see the red exclamation point

I just got the pre-II hold email from Tucson (which says I've gone through primary screening phase and will still be considered for an interview) even though I never submitted their secondary lol. Is this a glitch or would I actually be considered?
