8/6 as well. Cmooooon pritzker, tell us our fate

Yeah I am in this strange limbo. Med Schools are so unpredictable! I got IIs from 3 schools within a month of submitting my secondaries and letters. WashU took over a month just to process my letters. Pitt rejected me within a month of my submission. Not a peep from the rest of the schools and it's been over two months since I have submitted my secondaries to some schools lol.

Welcome to my world!!!! Submitted over 20 Secondaries and the score is 3 Interviews(no decisions yet) and 3 outright Rejects Pin drop silence from the rest

Well, since the first round of acceptances have gone out, maybe those of us on hold will finally get an update.

Not until December, when the next round comes out. At least that's what they said at the wrap up session

Hello everyone,

I submitted my Pritzker secondary on August 6th and my letters of rec shortly thereafter. 80 LizzyM score. Is this long of a wait normal? I have not been placed on hold, so they must still be actively looking at my application. Any thoughts?

+1.

Does anyone know stats about %accepted post interview? Most school are around 30% I think---is that the case here?

According to the site below, for Fall 2012, Pritzker interviewed 581, offered acceptance to 266, and enrolled 88. If you believe this site and if these numbers are still relevant, post-interview acceptance rate is ~46% (including people that got off the waiting list). At the end of the day, you just have to remember that you did your best and that the decision is out of your hand, so relax. If you get "continued", there are still two more sub-cycles left.

I have a really hard time believing they accept that many people for only 88 spots. How do so many people decide to go to a different school???
Edit: if it's true though, then yaaayyyyyyy

At the interview, I recall the Dean of Admissions saying that they interview 750. Although that probably changes from year to year.

Most schools accept 2-3 times the number of spots they have available. The applicants that Pritzker interviews are likely to get into many other programs, so you never know were people will choose.

These numbers are somewhat accurate based on previous years, though Pritzker typically interviews slightly more applicants than that (~650 or so) and accepts slightly fewer. So the overall percentage accepted following the interview is slightly less.

The typical student that gets accepted to Pritzker is also usually applying to many other top notch schools, and many of those students will choose to attend one of those instead of Pritzker for any number of reasons. Like most other top schools, Pritzker is competing with 10-20 schools for a relatively small number of high-achieving applicants.

Congrats to everyone who was accepted! and good luck to those still waiting/continued...

Anyone know the chances of being accepted after a deferral? What does continued actually mean?

Continued means you are still being considered for a position. It's essentially like a waitlist until May 15, with the possibility that you could be pulled off of it before then. Around May 15, they will formalize a waitlist from continued applicants (it's a smaller pool) that will be used over the summer until admission. The amount of waitlist/continued movement really varies from year to year.

I personally wouldn't believe those numbers that were floated around about acceptance %...

@NickNaylor Just some inside knowledge: because of some admin changes, I was informed that the number of people being interviewed this year is bigger than in the past. This can be seen anecdotally from any given interview day. It seems in the past they tended to be 8-12 per day but now its consistently 12-15.

In your acceptance call, did they say they would send out an email or physical copy of your acceptance?? I was so excited when she called everything kind of floated in one ear and out the other haha....and now I'm worried i just imagined the call.

Haha i feel you there. I asked on here and i don't think anyone has received the formal email offer yet so don't worry. My guess is it will probably come out Monday. Until then I'll still think i was hallucinating or something 😛

I got the formal email offer yesterday following Thursday's call. It seemed somewhat personalized so maybe they're taking time to write each one? Anyway, congrats guys! Hope to see some of you at second look.

I stand corrected haha. and same to you!

Has anyone still not gotten the confirmation email?
I'm late to the party lol. I called today about the e-mail confirmation (felt like it was too good to be true and wanted that email 😛) and they said that I would receive it very soon so I'm guessing we will get them by the end of the week.

Thank you, just wanted to make sure I hadn't imagined the phone call! 🙂

@ARAV_Rocky, in my phone call, she didn't tell me much about my scholarship other than it was full tuition. Did you get an e-mail or anything yet about yours??? We're gonna get something in the mail, correct? I also never received an e-mail yet about being accepted even...
I haven't gotten an email yet! We should be getting a package in the mail according to the phonecall. I'm just sitting tight and not worrying, I'm sure it'll come soon!

Me watching everyone celebrate their acceptances, waiting for December 21:

But seriously, congratulations to all of you!

For those still waiting for the email (and starting to wonder if the call was just a dream), check your portals. My status changed to "Accepted".

Rejected this afternoon. Complete early September. Canadian. PhD. cGPA 3.4-3.5. 522

I hear ya. It's been 12 weeks here, and still no word. I hope they get to us soon!

II just now.... can't believe they sent it on a Sunday but holy cow! Complete 7/29.
Hi @salsa112230 . Would you mind sharing what dates were being offered when you received your II? I have an interview at Feinberg at the end of Nov and was wondering if it would be worth it to send an ITA email to Pritzker.

Ahhh I can't really remember exactly. Definitely a few dates throughout November, some in Dec and Jan and then none after that I think. I say it's worth it since they were multiple dates offered in Nov.

Was anyone else asked to fill out their scrub top size? I understand it's a mass email but I'm still intrigued...like are they sending us scrub tops as a thank you? (that would be pretty sweet).

Yeah I think they ask it of everyone, which is a little pre-emptive IMO. At UC Irvine they actually had us try on white coats for size as well.

You'll get them if you're accepted later on in the year. You get the bottoms when you matriculate. 😉

Portal has changed, but still waiting for the email...Patience is definitely not my forte

follow up question: where do we send thank yous? Upload to Portal? Email to our interviewers? Email to admissions? I have a feeling they told us, but I have forgotten.
Also, for schools that say to send them to the admissions office----how do you do that? Write the thank you as a word doc and attach it to the email?

I sent mine directly to my interviewers. Also, for schools that required me to send them to the admissions office I usually just used the portal and attached PDFs

If you want to send a thank you, I would send it directly via email to your interviewers. But from the perspective of someone who interviews plenty of students...my opinion is completely unchanged by whether or not you send a thank you note or email. My review is probably already in the system before you eat lunch.
If sending thank yous is your thing, do it. If not, don't worry. Just be yourself., either way.
Feel free to ask for people's emails after your interview. May be helpful later on in the process if you have more questions.

I know it won't affect their opinions, but I like to do it as courtesy. I've worked full time for a while so a. I'm used to sending thank you's after interviews and b. I was always happy to receive them from people I had worked with, even if it didn't affect what I was doing for them. In some cases it even made my day. I remember some schools specifically telling us to send our thank you's to the admissions office and NOT directly to the interviewers so that's what I was trying to confirm here (all schools are now starting to blur together, LOL). If you interview here at Pritzker I'm assuming they are fine with us emailing our interviewers directly?

For those who have interviewed here, what are some good hotels near this area to lodge in? Does anyone know anything about La Quinta suites?
