Hi! I'm also interviewing in PA on 11/16!
I'm planning to get there early (arriving Sun at noon) to get a feel for the city. Are you arriving early as well?

Also, did you find any good resources to learn more about Allentown and LVHN?

They will give you some at the orientation. I will say having never lived here, so far I like it. There's plenty of outdoor spaces (which I love) and hiking nearby, easy access to big cities, and enough to do locally that you can still have fun on the weekends. Traffic is definitely better than Tampa too.

For those accepted recently, has the "Offer" tab shown up on the app website for you yet?

We should talk to someone who interviewed in Allentown and exchange impressions!
I've driven through Allentown and have been to Dorney and it is just a normal small city. It has bars and things to do, but it's not crazy. I think it's a good place to live since there is plenty to do during the week and then on free weekends it is ~1hr to Philly and Hershey and ~1.5hrs to NYC. I'm interviewing on the 16th, so I could give some more impressions then.

So on the MSAR it says the SELECT interview is closed-file, is that correct or should I make sure I know my essays?

This is correct. SELECT interview is not a typical medical school interview. Know yourself and you will be fine.

Philly is about 90 min-2 hr away on a typical day. Completely doable on a weekend. I even went on a weekday on a whim to go to a baseball game when I got out a little early.

Thank you guys for the info, helps a lot especially since I don't think i'm going to do second look at the allentown campus, any idea how long a drive it is to D.C more or less?

I think it will be helpful to review your application before the interview - primary, work and activities, and secondary. Good luck!

Google maps says 3hrs, so I would say definitely less than 5hrs.

It's 3-3.5 hours, depending on traffic

Hey friends,

I'm beyond thrilled to have finally gotten 'The Call' from Dr. Daniel [Not Dr. Daniels!!] on 11/04 ; so I'm officially accepted to the 2020 SELECT Program 🙂 I interviewed at LVHN on 10/12. I'm excited to get to know all you awesome people whether you've already been accepted or you're on your way there. I'd be happy to answer any questions there may be about the process I went through - within reason of course (i.e. not gonna give out interview questions/details).

Also, would anyone be interesting in starting a temporary/unofficial FB Group for those accepted? I know of a bunch of schools that have already set something similar up, and as of right now there doesn't seem to be any official Group for USF. If there's enough interest, I'd be down to set it up!

Interviewed SELECT 10/12, waitlisted yesterday. Good luck everyone~

3.5 hours is the standard usually when I go. 4-4.5 hours on a bad day. This is taking the route that avoids the 16 dollars in tolls (i.e. I-95), which could get you there 10-15 min quicker if the traffic gods are kind. Not worth it, in my opinion. Plus it's a more pleasant/scenic drive.

I'd be fine with one. I know the official page was made in February for last year.

Anyone who is considering going into the SELECT program, did you have any thoughts on how you would pay for it?
Federal loans...med school is crazy expensive now. USF SELECT's tuition is kind of average for private schools.

That's why i was looking at NHSC or military as possible options as well just wondering where everyone head is at.

You can use the med loan calculator on AAMC First website to see what your repayment plan options will look like and then find out what a $200K income after taxes is and estimate how long it would take to pay off your loan. But this site definitely has a lot of info on the military scholarship, if that is something you would be interested in

Does anybody know how strict they are one the two semesters of English requirement? I only have one

Hi! I was wondering how soon before your scheduled interview you guys received the email with the specific information about parking and directions/the student meet and greet? Mine is at Allentown at the end of this month, but I scheduled it a few weeks ago and I still haven't gotten any information so I just want to make sure there isn't a problem. Thanks!

Like a week before you'll get 3 emails

II yesterday! I'll be interviewing in Allentown on 12/14!

Those of you who already interviewed in Allentown, where did you stay?

Darn, I'm so jealous of all the OOS who got CORE acceptances 🙁 Haven't heard anything from USF since early August. Really hoping they'll have some interview slots left for OOS applicants who applied for CORE. USF Morsani is definitely a top choice of mine. I only skimmed through the last few pages, but has anyone gotten a rejection pre-interview? Seems like it's mostly silence until you get an interview.

My girlfriend was accepted yesterday! Still no II for me though, complete 7/28. Congrats to everyone on their acceptances and IIs so far!

Anyone know how admissions decisions are made for the SELECT program? I'm trying to decide whether to go ahead and interview in December or wait until January so they'll have my fall grades.

They said that the decision is 100% based on the interview. The hard part is getting the interview.
