For those who have gotten acceptance offers already, any idea of whether you are planning to take the offer or not? I know the deadline is coming up soon and it's exciting to see who goes where!

Might be a dumb question, but can't y'all ask for an extension? I know some of you all don't live close to some of the institutions that have accepted y'all so far. Or if you say yes to an institution now, and get accepted to one of y'alls first choices later on, can y'all retract from the initial institution? i'm really curious if anyone knows.

Hi! Sorry for joining the thread so late! I have an interview for UTMB coming up and I was wondering if anyone had any tips for me? What was it like? Should I take anything with me? I am dying to get in so I want to make sure I am prepared for this interview. Thanks for all the help! Really appreciate it 🙂

This morning I received an acceptance email from Texas Tech! I had interviewed 9-30 and I'm placed at the Odessa campus. I hope everyone else who I met there got good news!
Congratulations! That is very exciting. I wish you the best of luck on your new journey! 🙂

When is your interview?

Yes, I'm pretty sure you can retract later on!

Hey congrats!! I got the acceptance e-mail yesterday morning as well. I interviewed at the Odessa campus but was placed in Lubbock!
if you don't mind me asking... what were your stats? I interviewed at the Lubbock location on Friday and I LOVED it!!!

Do you think you are going to attend Tech?

Does anyone on this thread happen to know the total amount of people they invite to interview for each school? Specifically UNT, Texas State, and UTSW? I would really appreciate it.

I don't think there are extensions, but you can back out. Some schools require a deposit if you say yes to their offer, but you lose that deposit if you decide not to attend that school. PTCAS has all the school-specific instructions by program in their system, and you can look there to see if a particular school requires a deposit.

On UNTs website it says 100 people, but they had interviews until March according to the forums from last years cycle.

I think around 70-80 for UNT based on their website admission info and around 150 for Texas state based on their website admission info as well!! First image is Texas State stats and second is UNT

I've been wondering, do schools take into account what schools grade with +'s and -'s and which ones don't? I've looked into it and some schools only have an A, B, etc. scale which sucks for people who have schools that include minuses. I was just curious if anyone knew.

Well, I think there are advantages and disadvantages to having a school that does +/- ... I go to a school that does not do +/- and if we get an 89.5 in a class, that is considered a 3.0... Where as at other schools, an 89.5 would be something like a 3.3 (this number could be wrong). But, I do understand the disadvantage of getting a 92 in a class and only getting a 3.6 (instead of a 4.0 at a school that doesn't get +/- ). So I'm not sure there is a way to compare schools that do +/- vs. schools that don't, because there are clear advantages and disadvantages...

Like you, I have been wondering the same thing. Because my school does not do +/- , are my GPA's looked at like they have lesser value, compared to people who went to schools with +/- ?

Personally, I think everyone's GPA's should be converted to a NON +/- scale so everyone is on the same playing field!!!

Unrelated PT question - does your school give a 4.3 for something higher than a 97?

Yes, but in PTCAS they don't consider A+'s as a 4.3, they're converted to a 4.0. Plus they virtually impossible to get because you'd need to make a 98 or better in the class. If they put it on a non +/- scale it would be way more fair because my prerequisite GPA for North Texas would go from a 3.63 to a 3.77 because at Rice if you get below a 94 then it's an A- (for the majority of classes I took at least). At Rice only a certain number of students can get As so the class instructor has to change the grading scale based on class percentages of A's sometimes. It's so dumb. Like for one class, everyone did so well that people who got 90-92 actually had B+'s instead of A-'s.

That's a huge jump... and I can't believe that the teachers can do that! It's impossible for us to convert our GPA's to a +/- scale, so I have no idea what mine would if it were converted... I assume it would be lower though!

Well, I think this would be a great question to ask in an interview!!

Yeah, it's a big jump because a good chunk of my classes I received A-'s in which only gets me a 3.6. Hopefully I get an interview so I can ask them! PTCAS says it standardizes the grades, but it's impossible if the schools have different grading scales.

I actually just called UNT and asked, they go based off of what PTCAS calculates.

I was walking to my car from the UNT interview today when I received an invitation to interview at UTHSCSA on November 4th!

Since we're keeping each other updated just to see what's going on, I just got my interview invite from UTHSCSA too! & got accepted at UNT!

Are you willing to post your stats? I'm waiting to hear back from UNTHSC and I want to see where I stand compared to some of the folks that are getting interviews. Congrats on the interview!!!

I know the deadline to accept the UNT offer was today for those who got the first interview. Anyone make a decision?

Not yet. I am talking to financial aid about scholarship info and I have two other interviews. I can't finalize until after that. Thanks for asking.

So did they extend the deadline for you until you get all the information you need financial aid wise?

@RiceOwl02 thanks for asking!
I accepted, but I still have 2 interviews coming up (hopefully 3!) so I'm still going to go to see what the outcome is.

I'm an international student so I REALLY need one school to give me an in-state tuition waiver so we'll see. I gave myself until December to really decide where I'm going.

Off topic, I called Texas State and they said they will email us exactly ON Nov. 4th.. was hoping for earlier, lol

Congrats on UNT though! If you don't mind me asking, what made you pick UNT over TWU?

I didn't. Making a decision at the end of the October was just too soon personally... of course everybody is different, but I'm the kind of person that takes time when it comes to important decisions and likes to see the big picture; which is the reason why I didn't apply ED

Oh ok I understand. Sorry I read your first reply incorrectly. You've been doing awesome so far it seems, so I'm sure you'll get into your first pick of schools!

Nope... :/
I did my interview in September and they did not email me within the first two weeks. They said they might tell you anytime in the next three months. It's not fun to wait but you've still got plenty of time before you're notified.

I was anticipating UNT to invite applicants to their next interview today, but I haven't seen anyone posting anything about another interview yet. Has anyone gotten an invitation or know someone who has gotten one for the 3rd round?

I'd give to towards the end of this week. I've also been waiting patiently. :I

Thanks - that is reassuring! I really hope I hear back soon! Congrats!!!!
