I didn't think to check yesterday, but it said my application was "complete, ready for review" a few weeks ago when I last looked.

Question for those who had already interviewed at any schools, what type of questions have you been asked? Just trying to research ahead of time and somewhat prepare myself. Thank you for any bit of help!

I thought UTSW wasn't rolling admissions?! I haven't applied yet because I thought their deadline wasn't until Dec 1st/not rolling. That is awesome though!

I thought they weren't either, they still might not be; the interview isn't until Jan. 9th! I was completely shocked when I got it!

Thats awesome!!!!! congrats! I can't decide if I want to submit an app there because my writing score isn't a 4.0, which it required to apply.

Honestly, just "common PT questions"... nothing really threw me off so far, it's just been very basic: Know how to talk about yourself, strength/weaknesses, what you know about PT,etc ...

And be yourself 🙂

Same. The only thing precluding me from applying is my gre quant score. :/

I can tell you with certainty that UTSW won't look at you unless you meet their minimum requirements.

thank you, I appreciate the honesty! I don't think I am going to apply there. It's unfortunate that UTSW has such high minimum requirements - it feels like they are trying to limit their applicant pool to people who only look good on paper. This definitely makes them less attractive to me.

One general question that I've gotten twice now that I had to prep for (fortunately my advisor mentioned it to me) is find any current event/controversy in the world of PT (for example the issue of direct access care) and learn a little about it, maybe even form an opinion on it.
And I always get caught off guard by those "tell us about a hardship and how you overcame it" or stuff like that, so think of a handful of life experiences that you can use for questions like that haha.

I've been on two interviews, and each time I got the "tell me about yourself" and "why this school" questions. The questions I've gotten about why PT were a little more thoughtful than just, "why do you want to be a PT." For example, I was asked what about my strengths would make me a good physical therapist and why PT over other allied health professions. One school asked me the pros and cons of their particular grading philosophy (you have to pass all the classes with an 80 or above). The worst question was, "Tell me a personal struggle, how you overcame it, and how it made you a better person." Overall, though, the interviews were very relaxed and conversational.

So one of the Admissions Directors from UNT came to my school for an info session today and she said that they do release rejection letters. However, they will be given out once they've filled up their class. Until then, everyone's status will stay at "under review". It's like that because she said that sometimes they might not find the kind of applicants they want from the interviews so they go back and look at applications from time to time. For the most part though, she said they've basically sent out almost all of the interview invitations for now. She didn't say it like that because she didn't want it to sound mean or depress some people, but that's basically what I got from it.

Someone who had gone to an earlier interview said they were planning on interviewing 150-200 people for this cycle though and they've only done 2 interviews of about 30 people so far. That's strange that they would say both. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Just got an email about being on the waitlist for UTMB! Anyone else hear from them?

Also, not sure if this helps for UNT people but i'm going to the interview on Feb 3rd!

I got accepted into UTMB, I was so surprised, I swear they said we will know around New Years, but I'm happy we heard sooner

Did they let you know where you stand on the waitlist or are they waiting for after the Dec. 9th interview @baker16 ?

That's awesome! Apparently most people get put on the waitlist (is what a student told me.) And then they pull from the waitlist which is the top 100 students they interviewed to fill the rest of the class. So its the next best thing to being accepted! They didn't tell me where I was on the waitlist, but that they usually go through most of the waitlist to fill their spots because the student's they accept sometimes go to other schools.

I saw I also got put on the UTMB waitlist after interviewing on Nov. 4th. I guess others heard back from them as well, but its good to know I'm still in the running!

You guys, I just received the craziest news. God is so good tbh. On sunday night I had recieved a rejection letter from Texas State stating that I did not receive an interview due to my application being incomplete. However, just this morning I recieved a call from DPT department at Texas State telling me there were technical difficulties with my application that led to my application being rejected and they extended me an invitation during that call as well!

Something like that happpened to me! UNT misplaced my request form so they thought I didn't have any biology credit when I actually do. Now they are looking at my application again. I hope I hear back good news soon!

Have more people heard back from UTHSCSA now? I got considered for their Early Offer period and still nothing.

Congrats RiceOwl.

I had an interview last Friday for UTHSCSA early offer period. They interviewed about 25 people.

It's so crazy. Makes me wonder how many people didn't recieve an invitation in the past due to this kind of problem. Same, I'm hoping for the best!

I received an email from UT San Antonio that said

"For the early interview, we are only able to offer a very small number of interviews. Unfortunately, we are unable provide you an early interview at this time. Please do not get discouraged from this news. Your application is very impressive and we will be able to offer many more interviews spots for our December 2nd and 3rd interview dates. We hope to offer these slots sometime before thanksgiving."

So if anyone else has not received an invite from them, I hope this helps!

I applied during their early offer period, but haven't received an interview invite OR the email you posted. Yikes. 🙁

I got that same email!! I'm still hopeful!

Can I ask when you got the email? Now I'm obsessively checking my inbox!
It arrived in my inbox at 130 this afternoon. I wouldn't worry about it. It said that they would be contacting people around Thanksgiving time to set up the next interviews. There's still time!!

I had my ASU interview today. It was really lovely. The professors were all very nice and they started out the presentation by everyone introducing themselves which I appreciated. They did some questions like "tell me about clinicals," "tell me about your undergrad degree" and then some scenarios like "explain a time when you solved a conflict" or "explain a time
That you took a leadership role." Those kinds of questions. I think they definitely want you to interview them as much as they are interviewing you so the current students and faculty are very conversational and helpful. Hope that helps. Good luck, ASU interviewers! We should hear back about 2 weeks from our interview time.

Interviewed yesterday with @latissimus dorsi !
However it seems like we had different questions, but overall I really liked the interview. I felt like with other schools the interviews was more of a "show us why you want to be a physical therapist" whereas this one was more of them trying to figure out if I would actually be a good physical therapist. I really liked the two professors who interviewed me and they were very good about giving me feedback on my answers such as "that's a really good answer" etc, so that was really nice.

But that school is F.A.R y'all. Like I already knew it was far, but actually driving there ... it was far, far! Lol

Anywoo, good luck to everyone interviewing there!

I got the "unfortunately we are unable to provide you an early decision offer at this time" email from UTHSCSA yesterday.

Oh well, hoping to get in regular decision!

Hello everyone! I have been receiving a few rejections, and I am considering applying to a few more programs, and UT Southwestern is one of the schools I'm looking into. The deadline is set on 12/1, but I was wondering if it would be too late to apply this late in the cycle. Also, for those who did interview at UTSW, what was your impression of the program? Here are my stats, by the way:

Undergrad: UIC
Major: Biology
cGPA: 3.73
pre-req GPA: 3.64-3.75 depending on how schools calculate it (self-reported pre-req GPA: 3.69, so right in the middle)
GRE: 152 V, 161 Q 4.5 AW
Observation Hours: around 100 hours outpatient ortho (mixed in with sports), 25 outpatient neuro, 25 inpatient acute care (150 hours total)
Extracirriculars: 2 years of missionary work prior to college, pre-PT club, tutor science for high school students at a prep school.
Applying: UIC, Rosalind Franklin, UNMC, Drexel

I looked at the PTCAS info and the school's website, and they are showing different requirements for GPAs. If they do look at the last 60 credit hours, it's around a 3.7-3.75.

I am so surprised you have been receiving rejections! You have great stats!!! UTSW is not rolling admissions from what their website says (although a few people have received interviews). I'm pretty sure they have not conducted an interview yet (I think) so I would definitely still go ahead and apply!!!

Both schools did not like how I interviewed, and the Drexel one really surprised me. I have talked to a few people and reflected on my experience, and I do feel like I was able to pinpoint a few things that could've went wrong. It sucked to hear those words, but this is what I need in order to become someone that contributes to the PT world and the society.

Hey for those of y'all that are interviewing at Texas State this Friday, do y'all feel like we might get grouped interviewed? They're interviewing an awful lot of people all in one day so it's been on my mind. If anyone has any info about it being that way in the past, I would greatly appreciate it.

To be honest i'm just going off of the criteria from the past years that they have posted online. It says that the class of 2016 had 152 people interview and the class from 2017 had 166 people interview. So that's where i'm getting these numbers from. UNLESS, they have significantly decreased the number of interviews recently. I'm just kinda ball parking it. Also, will y'all be going to the dinner on Thursday night?

I think they probably received more applications this year because of joining PTCAS so I don't think the number of interviewees would have decreased, so maybe it stayed about the same of slightly increased?
But I don't think they are doing group interviews though since they had us call to schedule our times, it sounded like it's going to be individual, but I could be wrong.

Yes I'm going to the meet and greet! What about you?

I hope no group interview. I am excited to meet you all but I don't want to do a group. That sounds scary. I think they would have told us if it was a group. I have work in the evening and I'm in Dallas so no meet and greet. Have a good time. Maybe I'll see you guys on Friday. 🙂

I think you're right. I'm probably just thinking the worst. lol what time are you interviewing? No, i'm not :/ I'm taking my GRE Wednesday in Dallas at 1:00pm and last time I finished around 5:00pm at about the same starting time. I won't be able to make it in time unfortunately. :/ Hopefully I'll get to meet you and everyone else during the oriention portion prior to interviewing, i'm doing the afternoon one!
