That said, I need some advice. I've been trying to research and just can't figure out where to go from here. My GPA and MCAT are both low (3.3c/499) but I have tons of extracurriculars, volunteer, and healthcare experience. I was thinking about doing the KCUMB-COB master's program to boost my numbers, but since I wouldn't start until August and it's an 11 month program, does that mean I can't even apply to enter schools until 2019? That seems so far away. What do people do in these situations? I feel like this is so common but I didn't realize it would be a 2 year wait. SOS.

Congratulations! I've seen your posts in previous years threads, great to see it come together for you this cycle.
 
Well, only a couple of days more for the OOS applicants, I suppose. Congrats to every one who has been accepted so far.
 
I'm far back on the alternate list. Losing hope after looking at the previous thread's waitlist movement, but good luck to everyone who's been accepted!

I was somewhere in the 30s. I of course freaked out and looked into past trends, but movement is pretty unpredictable. They made it to the late teens last year. Some years it was only a handful and others made it the 30s. Being repeatedly told to "be patient" was a pain, so I would say take a moment to process that they did see you as a great candidate, and then go live your life! Don't check this forum daily like I did; it'll only fuel the anxiety and detract from your awesomeness as a person 😀

I would start checking once the alternate list is activated. I remember we were at #11 within the first week, but movement was sparse after that. So those first few days will give you a good idea of how far the list will go. Best of luck!
 
Does anyone know how long it takes after all the acceptances to hear about campus decisions usually?
 
This might be a little neurotic. But according to the numbers I've seen roughly 82-85% of people who get accepted at KU end up attending. Which makes KU one of the most popular medical schools. This means of the 230 acceptances that 189-196 of the 211 seats will be filled. This leaves 15-22 people taken of the alternate list on average per year? Let me know if this math doesn't match up to what you've seen. Obviously it can vary greatly from year to year like the letter states(5-36). Just wishing the best for the others on the alternate list!
 
If anyone is looking for a roomate you can PM me. I know we don't know campus assignments yet but I'm more likely than not going to be in KC.

FWIW, I think this year might have more waitlist movement than usual due to concerns regarding the implementation of the new curriculum. That's just speculation though.

If those are US News numbers, then I believe the number of acceptances includes those given to people off the waitlist.

Acceptance letter in the mail today. I had given up on an MD acceptance and decided to go to DMU. Now I am really conflicted. I'm OOS.
 
Any other IS applicants currently living OOS still waiting on their decision letter? Wondering if mine got lost in the mail or if there are others still waiting as well.
 
Anyone know when in March they will decide which site you will attend?

"Updates may be submitted via your secondary application through Thursday, February 16. The database will be locked on Friday, February 17. "
 
Does anyone know if they plan to keep sending us information (like campus assignments) through the mail?
 
No acceptance yet, no rejection yet, no waitlist yet.....at least one more sweet day of simply not knowing.....
 
So if we got the scholarship email, that means KU received our acceptance paperwork?

I believe anywhere from 8-12. I applied to the program in the past and recall being told about 100 receive an invitation to apply and about half end up submitting an application. It really is a spectacular opportunity so I would definitely recommend applying!

I'm pretty sure it's free. But you should reach out to the school for details. I know invites to be participate in the pre-matric program have gone out, so the same may be true for the post-bacc.

"We will be selecting participants for the 2017-2018 Post Bac program by May 1st at the latest and will communicate our decision by email at that time."
