Does USF have an orientation before classes start? I'm trying to plan my summer right now. I know classes start 7/31

During my interview day, they said that the first week is more of an orientation, and the week after is when the first set of classes actually start. I could be remembering wrong though, so please correct me!

Man I was so nervous during my interview day I barely remember anything haha

Yeah I just remember a current student said that the first week, you work with your "house" and make a presentation, and then after that the real classes start. We'll see though haha

That's how it has been the last couple years.

Any word back on the 2/14 interviewees?? I'm dying to hear from USF

Does USF have any special health insurance specifications? Can I just use my own or do i need to buy the school's

What is the average decision time post interview? Interviewed on 2/20 and waiting to hear back

Me! Complete 8/13, no "viewed" on status display

+1 🙁

I am kinda surprised that my application wasn't even looked at, if that is in fact the case. I took the old MCAT, so not sure what their cut off was for that.

They told us at the interview that the "last viewed" status is practically meaningless. I interviewed/waitlisted and my status still doesn't say it was viewed.

So how many more interview days shuld be expected this season?

On their website it says they continue until April, so I would expect at least a couple... I don't know how far along they are in sending invites though.

Has there been any waitlist movement here?

Anyone staying at La Quinta Inn and Suites USF Wednesday night?
Heads up when I was there, there wasn't any warm water in my room (night before interview yay) and they were very obnoxious about fixing it or getting me a room with hot water. They said supposedly none of the rooms had hot water and that there was no way to get it fixed until the next day. I figured that was a pretty obvious lie so I was persistent.

TLDR don't take no for an answer from the manager/staff if you have issues with your room.

If anyone is going back for Second Look weekend can you post a synopsis of it here afterwards? I can't miss work but would love to hear about it!

I'll be going to the 2nd look. I'll try and post a quick rundown of the important stuff after as soon as possible.

Wish I could go to second look but $400 plane tickets and having to use PTO is no bueno. T.T

Hope whoever's going have fun! Keep us in the loop!

Me as I wait for financial aid news

@ganchomedical ask about aid!!
For real though.... I'm not going to second look if I don't get any aid, but something tells me I missed the sign up either way at this point

Also, if anyone has any questions you want asked, just post them and I'll try to get answers during the event
Da real MVP right here.

BTW can you ask about how easy it is to do away rotations for research/clinical stuff in Florida and outside of Florida?

Asking for a younger sibling in the current app cycle.... Is USF still issuing IIs? And if so, would these interviews be solid? Or is it likely that at this point, USF is interviewing to expand their waitlist?

Another question: When does USF start pulling/accepting names off their WL? And do they tell their waitlisted applicants what "tier" or where they are on the WL?

Thanks!

Don't know whether they are still issuing, but I do know that their interviews are for actual seats, not waitlist spots. That being said, I think the likelihood of being waitlisted increases the later you do the interview like it does for most med schools. Bulk waitlist movement should be a little after the April 30th commitment deadline, and they do not tell you your place on the WL, but you are internally ranked.

Sourced from my friends who have been waitlisted

Are you guys getting emails? I was complete the same time, but still haven't heard anything.
I got an email. Maybe check your junk mail just to be sure, but otherwise this might mean you're still in the running. 👍

I haven't gotten the rejection email either but I am sure its coming 🙁
