2017-2018 University of Illinois

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Does it say something other than "primary campus requested" on the main page? I was in the first wave of acceptances so becoming increasingly annoyed about this. Hard to make a decision when you have no idea where you'll be
I'm with ya... I check this forum and my applicant portal just about every day hoping to see some information... UIC is my top choice, dependent upon campus assignment.

So maybe they gave students assignments first if they choose rockford or peoria?

Congrats on ur acceptance!

Thank you!
I guess that might just be the case! Weird that no official emails about those campus assignments have gone out though.

Does anyone know when mid-December interviewees should expect a decision on their application/when the adcom is meeting next? Thanks and best of luck to you guys 🙂

in my interview they said committee will be meeting jan 18 so expect updates jan 19 apparently!

Are they interviewing less applicants this year? Last year they interviewd until march

Spoke with admissions today and they confirmed the interview season ends in January. For those of us who are waiting, they suggest keeping an eye on the portal and email in the meantime.

Non-trad reapplicant, LizzyM 70, complete mid-August.

Does anyone know when they will notify us of the scholarship recipients? They give out a bunch you can't apply for.

Where did you get scholarship info? The only thing I had was a facebook link that popped up random ones every once in awhile.

Does anyone know how they view reapplicants? I was waitlisted last year and just interviewed again this cycle. Has anyone gotten in their second time?

I was deferred and ultimately rejected a couple of years ago and accepted this year.

Still no word on campus assignments?

Has anyone accepted this cycle, who chose Chicago as their primary campus, been given their campus assignment? Has none been assigned to even the people accepted earlier in the cycle? Anyone know how much longer?

I was accepted in October and requested Chicago, but still have not been assigned a campus. Getting super nervous

Did they say less interviews then?

Reading from last year SDN and MSAR data they accepted way more students from IS, believe the # is between 16-32. Some of the students were Deferred to 2018 cycle as per MSAR # is 16.
So I am sure this time they are more protective not to over accept IS. So that means less II and less acceptances as compare to last year cycle.

did anyone get the email requesting background check? wondering if its from uic

How do we send our immunizations and transcripts?
I was wondering about that as well after checking the original applicant portal (not the accepted student portal). I haven't received any additional info from UIC since the email informing me of my acceptance in November.

I didn't get it. Accepted in october.

The background check comes from whichever school accepts/conditionally accepts you first and then each school after that has access to it and uses the same info

Hi there, so I got the application for the UIC housing... And after looking at the rates, I was wondering if anyone knew approximately how much rent in private apartments around the campus would be? I have a car so I would be willing to commute a bit but I'd love to be in a safe neighborhood.

Forgive my incompetence here... but to apply for financial aid, you ONLY need to submit the FAFSA, right? No other forms? I just don't want to mess this up

I called financial aid last week and they said that's all they needed. They also mentioned they don't put packages together until August

If you get flagged for a verification, then there is some additional stuff you'll need to submit.

August?? I thought schools are suppose to send financial packages in March. August is so late!!

Schools don't have to send financial aid info before decisions are required on April 30. It's a courtesy if they do, but they don't have to. Honestly, I can understand that UIC would wait until the class is more or less set. Everybody knows that a public school (especially for IS students) is going to be the cheapest option no matter what. Why waste time putting together a package for someone who might end up going somewhere else?

I guess. I'm an OOS applicant but I really liked the school during my interview and I was hoping to wait until the financial aid package before making a decision. Sucks for me but good for the school

Yeah, I mean obviously that sucks for OOS applicants. FWIW, every OOS person I talked to on interview day said that UIC pretty much always gives OOS students an IS tuition rate.
