2017-2018 University of Illinois

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
There's over 260 people in the fb group so likely +300 acceptances.
I am sure most of the people on fb will stay with uic and only few will go to other schools.
Last year they interview 825 and I would think they must have send acceptances to ~550-600, total matriculated was 317.
It tells me we still have good # of acceptances in the pipeline.

Yeah, I mean obviously that sucks for OOS applicants. FWIW, every OOS person I talked to on interview day said that UIC pretty much always gives OOS students an IS tuition rate.
Whaaat? This would make a massive difference -- when you say that every OOS person you talked to said this, were these OOS medical students, or were they other interviewees? Basically, I'm just wondering how valid this claim is.

I can't give you hard evidence as the OOS students I talked to obviously shared this anecdotally. I think it would be worth calling the financial aid office if you're in this situation.

How likely does everyone think it is that those just recently accepted get their top campus choice? What if that top campus choice is Chicago? Is there a thread discussing the different campus pros and cons that’s fairly recent? Thanks guys!

You better Call them. I dont know if they do silent rejection or silent waitlist.
I called about a month ago and they just said my application was still under consideration. No waitlist or anything

Yes I chose Chicago and got assigned that campus! I also interviewed 10/20 if that matters.
I wonder if they are doing it first come first serve like they said. I interviewed around 12/9 but im crossing my fingers to be placed in chicago!

That mean they put you on a deferred list, being deferred is better then being on a waitlist since people on deferred list are reconsider by adcom each meeting.
If you do not make the cut by April then you will be moved to waitlist thats my understanding.

Just checked today and I got the chicago campus! Interviewed late november, and accepted in December!

has anyone not gotten Chicago after putting it down as their #1 campus?? Just got accepted and I'm hoping there are still spots open for Chicago

First and foremost congrats! Second, they haven't really assigned any campus placements yet except to a few people, so the majority of the Chicago spots should still be open. I cant comment on the acceptance day order they are giving those Chicago spots away though

Is anyone applying to their curricular programs such as the Global Health program and now have difficult/competitive it is to get in?

So funny story. Back in December when everyone was getting their acceptance letters in the mail, mine was nowhere to be found. I called the admissions office, and they confirmed that they did send it to the right address but they sent another one anyway.

I figured that plot line was over and done with, but then this morning...guess what was in the mail?! The original letter! It was accidentally sent to the same address, but in a different town and some nice citizen popped back in the mail with a note to reroute it to the correct location.

I'm glad there wasn't anything actually useful in there lol.

get your campus assignment yet? lol

So....
Behavioral Science Pre-requisites
  • Candidates must complete three courses in the Behavioral/Social Sciences in the following disciplines: Psychology, Anthropology, Economics, Gender Studies or Sociology.
  • Two of the above three courses completed must be in the same field of study.
If someone (ADMITTED) doesn't have these fulfilled (only 2/3 courses), what should they do?

Take them in the Spring/Summer semester.

They also accept AP for some, I'd email ADCOM to ask for your situation...

Also does anyone know if there is a thread that talks about living situations/good places for apartments at the Chicago campus?

Honestly I'm not even surprised. They just keep pushing it back. I wouldn't take that statement with a grain of salt
I’m pretty sure the interview cycle is either done or basically done so they have time to focus more on this now. They probably also are waiting on the speciality programs to decide where they want people to be located.

So people who put Chicago as their top choice have gotten assigned to Chicago already? Accepted with the first group in October and still haven't see any change to my portal.

I believe only a couple people (at least on sdn) have said they got assigned to Chicago and who were also accepted in October. Most are still waiting

Sammeeee haha. I wonder if they will tell us over the phone. Thinking about calling this afternoon
please post if they do tell you, i've thought about calling because i want to cancel another interview if i get my first choice

Someone said they will do more campus assignments sometime this week and we will know through portal . I’d wait till next Monday to call. Have a feeling they are waiting to have all accepted students in a list to better serve everyone’s first choice.

Is there any rhyme or reason as to the order applications are reviewed? Mine says it's been forwarded to the admissions committee since late August, so I'm not too optimistic.

ugh +1. Feels like their interview season is over too. 🙁

Preffed the Chicago campus but got Peoria. Accepted in the second wave of people around thanksgiving.

they said they would have them up last week and then they said this week and then they said the end of january and my interview is a week into february s

Do you have ties to either area?

It was a portal update and no. My hometown is about the same distance from both areas.

I feel like everyone who was accepted in the first wave should automatically get Chicago. If I get Peoria I will be very displeased.
