2017-2018 University of Illinois

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Be grateful for a placement at all honestly, many people are still waiting for II.
Don't get us wrong. I can't speak for everyone but I know I'm very blessed to have been accepted. It's just hard to make post-graduation plans such as living and decisions about other schools when you don't know your campus placement at UIC first (especially if you were told you would know your campus placement by mid-November).

You literally have 6 months until school starts; Chill out, be patient, and try not to sound so pretentious. If you like the school for what it can open doors for, it shouldn't matter what campus you are placed at.

Edit: I thought this was tekkenman11 replying

I'd like to save several hundred dollars by not traveling to another interview (and thereby giving someone else the chance to have that interview) by getting my first choice placement by my family. This other interview is by my friends from college. The other U of I locations are by no one I know, so yes it matters where we're placed. Not pretentious, just incredibly frustrated. Comparing frustrations/sadness does no one any good. Waiting to hear about an interview does not negate the frustration someone else feels over waiting several months to hear a piece of news they were told they would receive weeks ago. There are many challenging aspects of this process

I don't think they were being pretentious... they literally said they were thankful to have been accepted. There's a lot of factors at play, a huge one being family locations, so yes campus placement plays a huge role in this decision.

Campus placements are REALLY important. Each campus has its own special focus and they are not all the same. For myself, urban health is something I want to do, so placement in Chicago is extremely important to me. While Peoria might be better for someone who has interest in rural health.

First reactions usually tell a lot about a person, so the pretentious comment was geared more towards their first reaction to having frustration about not hearing about a specific placement. To each is their own, but im sure admissions is working as fast as they can to make sure everyone is happy.

Edit: I thought the tekkenman11 guy was replying back, these were two separate people so

Someone on the fb group asked what factors into the campus placement, and Leila replied "mission of the campus and the content of your application." So it's not solely first come first serve...

No worries, it's all good

I think you might be able to see your campus if you log into my.uic.edu and click "my campus". Can anyone who has seen their campus placement in the accepted student portal try this and tell us if it corresponds to your campus?

Edit: Also when I got to "UIC Connect" it shows:

Semester: Fall 2018 Chicago
College: Coll Medicine at Chicago
Major: Medicine Chicago

Current College of Medicine Site/Track is Chicago

Only previous UIC/UIUC students can login all that stuff correct? I never had any email with those login options available.

I don’t see the “my campus” option. Then again I was a UIUC student.

I checked mine on this site and it says the same thing, but my accepted portal doesn't show an assigned campus. If my.uic.edu is correct, then I got placed at Chicago. But I'm really skeptical about this and don't want to get too excited if it's not true.

How do you get access to the portal? It looks like someone on the facebook went to another college but somehow still got in there.

Sidenote...Maybe I need to stop checking/sdn'ing for a week or two.

Also, I went to UIC enterprise or UIUC enterprise then went and got my academic history.

Current Program
College:
Coll Medicine at Chicago - CS
Major and Department: Medicine - Chicago, Administration

That's what it says. DID I GET CHICAGO?

No one knows whether there's any significance to the myUIC information. Best to just wait for the acceptance portal to update.

There's an option to confirm the chicago campus and an option to switch to rockford or peoria.

I feel like if it was real, it wouldn't have the option to switch out to another campus since placements are usually set in stone.

It says the same for me. I can't help but question whether the Chicago campus is some sort of default option... I was accepted late December so I'm not even expecting a campus placement anytime soon.

Assigned to Chicago! Accepted 10/26. A little bummed though because second look is the same day as Loyola's... Anyone have a time-turner?
Send a similar looking sibling to one? Haha

10/26er here. Got the Chi too via portal.
