Are any more Interviews schedule in Jan/Feb ?
If not when will the adcom be meeting in Feb, normally its 3rd Thursday.

They said the placement is based on application and interview location. I personally got assigned Chicago, but it would have made no sense to send me to rockford. Rockford specializes in family medicine and rural medicine, while my background is city life, emergency medicine, acute care, anesthesia, etc.

If someone lives near rockford or peoria, and their goals/background fits that school, it is more likely they will get placed there.

Totally get that. I also have a city and emergency background, and I live close to Chicago. I was just a little surprised and wondering if anyone was in the same boat.

Been a while since I've posted but my anxiety over campus placement has peaked. 10/26 acceptance and still nothing. I'm strongly interested in urban medicine and working with undeserved communities but seeing @avocado23 and others is freaking me out.

Anyone else accepted very early and placed in Peoria, despite requesting Chicago?
I was accepted 11/20. Primary request Chicago, secondary Peoria. Still have not received any campus assignment.

I disagree about it making sense to send people to rural campuses just because they’re from rural areas. I am from a rural area in Illinois and while my background “fits a rural campus” I have always much more enjoyed the faster paced city life and could see myself practicing what you consider “city medicine” in the future. That being said, I receive the Peoria campus assignment after being accepted very early on. I can’t help but feel targeted that the admissions committee thinks they know where I’d fit in best based on my background, when nothing else about my application indicate anything about a rural medicine preference as a career.

For those that are assigned to other campuses (not Chicago) and want to be in the city, you should apply to one of those extracurricular pathways that only takes place on the Chicago campus. I've heard of people having luck being switched campuses this way.

This sounds like its been answered a million times, so I'll make it a million and one times. The campus location in myUIC portal under UIC connect is set to Chicago as the default campus?

-Another anxious admittee

Have there been more assignments today? 10/26 and thought being placed at Chicago was a no brainer for me (from there, career goals, etc. - my Peoria interviewer even told me chicago would make the most sense for me) so becoming more and more nervous about not getting a placement yet

I'm a little frustrated that they say the interview location doesn't matter and that it's first come first serve when it's clearly not. And they're updating campus assignments in a sporadic order.

Did they say that the location didn't matter? I had no idea. I thought that it did especially when you're interviewing with staff at those specific locations and asking questions about the campus/program.

Yea they've repeatedly said on their website and at the interview that the interview location doesn't affect your campus placement but I'm skeptical

When I scheduled at Peoria five minutes after calling and trying to schedule for Chicago (where I’m from) they told me multiple times it doesn’t matter at all and that taking the early interview date was better than waiting nearly a month to interview in Chicago

Taken from their website:
"Students should note that after they have received an offer, campus assignments are made independent of where their interview took place."

Well I learned something new.

What's strange is when I called to ask if I could switch my interview location from Peoria to Chicago for an easier commute, the person on the phone told me that the adcom specifically wanted me to interview at Peoria.... uh

Also taken from their website

"Factors considered for campus assignment are in alignment with the specific mission of each campus and include, but are not limited to, where the student interviewed and the content of the application. The college makes every effort to assign admitted students to their first choice of campus; however, it is not always possible."

Or maybe not.

That’s really frustrating, I’m a 15 minute drive from the Chicago campus and 2.5 hours from Peoria so very much sympathize with how annoying that was

Lol! Awesome

Lowkey I could see them placing more OOS people at Chicago to collect those higher tuition fees

wat? I thought tuition was the same throughout all the campuses.
No they're the same across all campuses I think. I meant that OOS people are more likely to pay that super high OOS tuition if they get placed at Chicago.

OOS people will rather go to other accepted school if they are not placed in Chicago. IS people might have to bite the bullet and go whichever Campus they are placed since they have less options for OOS schools.

Bassically saying that in state is less competitive. Which might be true, but I doubt that is factored into consideration.

Has anyone who interviewed 1/12 heard back yet? Hoping that not all campus placements have gone out yet because they have more acceptances to send out, but I'm getting nervous. They haven't responded to my email about when the next meeting is.

I’d say one more week as they probably will offer the final acceptances first...

:bang:

Oh god. I hope not. If they wanted to wait until they had a full class, then I figure they wouldn't have sent out any assignments.

From the FB group today:
"Do you think the rest of the 25% will come out today? Even those accepted recently on 1/19?"
Leila: "Hopefully by the end of the week"

Yea, I saw the post. Seeing other people worry calms me so I guess I'll stop refreshing for the day.

Do you think our assignments already have been made and they are just waiting to input it in the website?

That's what it sounds like from Leila's comment on the FB page. She said that she is entering them in sporadically every day.

I'm not sure about that. If they were all already determined, it certainly wouldn't take as long. She makes it sound like she needs to do more work than just going in and clicking a few buttons.

Someone wanna post and ask about if campus assignment is at all related to interview location? I posted a few times already and don’t want to be annoying

Campus assignment is related to multiple factors. Leila already talked about it.

Honestly I just want my campus assignment so I can book my flight and get my time off approved for second look.

The website clearly states that it doesn’t. Email Leila if you are still doubtful. Maybe she can send the admissions policies or guidelines to you if they are not already available online.
