Did anyone successfully send an ITA email this year and get an II?

Does anyone know if/when they would send out pre-II rejections? I checked last year's thread and couldn't find anything...

I applied last year and to this day have not heard anything...

you applied last year, as in last cycle??? like 2016/2017? or last year as in like July-Dec 2017? I was always told that every school HAS to send you a decision, eventually... just wondering if that is not true?

Last cycle like summer 2016

I'm incredibly thankful for the acceptance at all, but bummed that I got Rockford. Accepted 10/26 for anyone wondering. Was really hoping for Chicago for a number of family reasons, but will most likely withdraw now...

Definitely going to try doing that, thanks for the suggestion. Do you email admissions directly for this? And also, do you know if any others have had success with it?
I think you email admissions yea. I would probably try to come up with some other reasons besides family in the area though as I'm willing to bet the majority of acceptee's are in the same boat.

No idea about other students' success.

assigned peoria today, wasn't my first choice (chicago was) but that's alright. anyone who interviewed at peoria have any insight on what was emphasized at the interview/special to that campus?

I interviewed there and the campus is all pretty new and high tech (at least within the sim lab, hospitals, and whatnot). Cons: peoria is fairly small but pros: the hospital campus and their affiliates are GREAT

I also interviewed there and they said it's pretty necessary to have a car which can be a con to some people (obviously also has its pros)

Thanks for the insights guys! Did they specify how the simulation lab and that jump simulation center they keep on hyping up are used for students? also anything about research opportunities?

Assigned Peoria today (not my first choice, Chicago was). Accepted 10/26, pretty bummed about waiting this long to not get my first choice. Interviewed there and it's a nice place, just can't help but feel like the clinical opportunities will be lacking compared to Chicago.

Assigned Rockford today, also accepted 10/26 and first choice was Chicago. On our interview day they basically told us that we would be able to get Chicago since we would be the first wave of acceptances. So incredibly bummed 🙁

Yea, I recall hearing that as well on interview day. I don't think anyone thought campus assignments wouldn't come out until three and a half months after acceptances. I can't help but feel like someone dropped the ball now we are dealing with the consequences. Oh well, still grateful for the acceptance. Now I just wish I could remind myself what I liked about Peoria by looking through the website, but that is down currently...

somehow even when i think i couldn't get more anxious over med school stuff, i surprise myself...fingers crossed i get my placement today and it's what i want

They were very clear that it's a really exceptional simulation center and they can essentially create any situation imaginable. I didn't take notes during the tour but I remember there was definitely a lot of opportunity to use it.

Placed in Rockford, accepted first wave back in October. They told us it was first come-first serves basis, which was apparently untrue. Will be withdrawing, as chicago is close to family and provides great clinical opportunities-- probably for the best.

Have any deferred applicants heard recently about when we should expect to start hearing back?

Just got Peoria accepted 10/26. Honestly shocked considering all my activities have been involved in Chicago with minority groups. What am I going to do in Peoria?

My only hope is to get accepted to the urban health program. I know someone who got placed into another campus and then applied to UHP to get switched. They're telling me to do the same.

Time for more essays yay!

Good luck to all you here trying to get your campus of choice. I also received Peoria despite being born and raised in Chicago (and did my undergrad in the city) and had a lot of urban health experience as well.

I will be withdrawing but just wanted to wish everyone luck and you’re all going to be amazing docs no matter what!

Does anyone know the acceptance rate for the Urban Med program or how many students are typically in it?

My friend who is in the program said they accepted around 20 people (no more than 30 ish) in any given year. Last years class was like 19 or something. I'm going to assume probably between 50-100 people apply for the program since the majority of those applying will be individuals who did not get Chicago placement. Let's hope luck is on our side!

I have a feeling there is going to be a large amount of UMED apps this year lol. I was under the impression that these programs weren't terribly competitive.

Either that or a lot of waitlist movement due to people choosing other schools after an undesirable campus placement

Are we under the impression that "forwarded to the screening committee" means they still haven't opened the app?

UIC is my top choice -- I'm a 3.85 with a 510 complete mid-August, chemical engineering major, over 2000 hours of clinical experience, tons of research, published articles, own two businesses, grew up in Chicago and used to get my health care through UIC. Prior to applying, I met with a UIC med school advisor to discuss how I could be the best applicant possible and followed his instruction to a T. I sent a Letter of Intent informing them they are my first choice school.

It would be heartbreaking if despite all of this they don't look at my app before completing the interview cycle.

I'm in a similar situation; IS, 512, and 3.75. I've also been complete since Mid-July. Maybe, I will try the letter of intent? Does anyone know how late they send out II?

EDIT: They interviewed into April last year. So, there is still time. GL!

Unfortunately this year they are wrapping up interviews early. At the top of the new year, Admissions said they be done by the end of January, but it seems like a few IIs are still slipping out. Not exactly sure what the story is but it doesn't feel promising.

Best of luck either way!

odd question but I want to get started on the IMED app but the website is down.. throwing a hail mary here but by any chance does anyone know what the questions are?

Does anyone have any laptop recommendations (e.g. Mac vs PC, etc.)?

I got my first laptop, a PC, when I started undergrad. The screen started to go out during sophomore year. I went to get a new one junior year, but I got another PC. It was pretty pricy, ~700, so the guy at Best Buy is like “oh yeah, don’t worry. This will last you through med school for sure!”. A month ago, the control key and up arrow key stopped working. I have friends who are using their Macs from high school! For those reasons, I am for sure getting a Mac for med school. From my experience, they last longer. Some schools also give computer grants, so seek out your resources before using your money; you might not have to!

Thank you for the advice!! Sorry for your computer troubles

one was something along the lines of 'what factors would drive you to practice/research in a given location' but i don't remember the others

@UICitGuy Any idea when the website will be back up and running? I wanted to look something up on Wednesday and it was down. I just remembered to look again today, but it's still down. If you're unsure, no problem, just thought I'd check!

Does anyone want to call them and ask if they're still sending out II.... I don't want to break down crying on the phone!

I got an interview here next Wednesday so I’m super stoked. Was waitlisted here last year (top half) so hopefully they pull the trigger this time. I got the II sometime mid to late Janurary.
