Hey, does anyone here have the admissions questions for any of the special curricular programs? Or know if you need a letter of recommendation for them? I've yet to get an email with anything back from the office and don't want to be rushing last minute.

I'm attaching the CEMED (clinician executive program) app to this post, but here are the questions just in case:

7. What experiences, skills or attitudes do you have that would allow you to learn and contribute effectively in the Clinician Executive Medicine curriculum?

8. What kind of setting/hospital/community do you see yourself practicing in the future? Why?

9. What do you think are the specific characteristics of a community that might influence how and where you may practice medicine someday?

10. What do you hope to gain from involvement with the Clinician Executive Medicine program?

11. What leadership roles have you held previously?

Just got an email saying my financial aid package was ready, but I don't even have a portal ID to login and view it... or a campus placement 😵

When were you admitted? Also, when did you have your FAFSA complete?

I didn’t get any fin aid email yesterday despite being accepted 10/26 :wtf:

Surprised people are already getting fin aid packages. When I called a few months ago, they said they didn't even download the fafsas until March. Are people who have received ones also getting any scholarships or other free money?

Got assigned Peoria today. Accepted 11/20. Primary choice was Chicago.

For FAFSA, do we include our parents information? I remember them saying that we only use our information but I just wanted to be sure.

Afraid not. Chicago was my last choice. I'm from small town Central Illinois, and I have no interest in city life or urban medicine.
After knowing they did this to you, it truly makes no sense to me as to how they decided campus placements anymore. I would've never thought they'd give someone Chicago who ranked it second or third.

It could have been an oversight. IMO, it would be worth reaching out and explaining your situation.
Yeah, I think they made an error. The problem seems to be that Chicago is the most popular choice, not the other two sites. There's probably space in Peoria for you if you email them and explain what you just said here.

I was assigned today too. Peoria was my primary choice and I was given Chicago... Lol
Lol. I would literally ask someone on here if they wanted to switch, call the office, and give them the solution (or just call and say you wanted Chicago w/o the switch)

Has anyone actually gotten an email where they give you information to log in their enterprise or whatever system with the NetID or did everyone have previous info from their old UIC accounts. I would love to get a checklist of To-Dos so I can better plan some prematriculation timelines.

This is so strange to me. I highly doubt they've made any mistakes in giving people campus placements but it makes you wonder

So the website is down how do I research this school? Big yikes help interview soon.

super bummed that i got rockford...i literally said verbatim in my essays that i have a desire to work in chicago and my research/volunteering experiences tie me to urban healthcare and i was in the first week of interviews...makes zero sense

Does anyone know if the February committee meeting was last week or this week? I interviewed in November and each month I've called they've said I haven't been reviewed. Would not be surprised if I've just been silently deferred, but I'm super interested in doing both UMED & PCM. I have in my interview notes that PCM deadline is over the summer, but that UMED application deadline is March 1. Did I write this down wrong? With the website being down I can't double check. But if it is March 1 does that mean everyone admitted after that date can't apply to those programs?

I have it in my notes that you can apply before you are accepted, and the application will still be considered up until the point a decision on your application has been decided on admittance.

Perfect, thank you!!

Can anyone comment on what rotations look like at the Peoria campus? Are they all through OSF? Is it reasonable to do a bunch of aways in Chicago?

Too bad they haven't even responded to my email asking for the application questions....

I had the same problem. Solution: use the Wayback Machine! (this thing rocks)
Just enter "medicine (dot) uic (dot) edu" in the Wayback URL bar and go back to 2017 for a glimpse at their most recent site. I can't post the link here cuz I don't post enough.

young king thank you!

Does this school do CSS profile? I couldn't find them while filling it out.

Hi, does anyone know when decisions for those that interviewed in January are coming out? I have in my notes that we would hear back on Feb 16th.

Thankfully they moved the deadline to apply for UMED back to March 16th (for anyone in the same boat), which is pretty nice because I hear back from another school the week before so if I get in there I will just rescind my acceptance.

I was assigned today too. Peoria was my primary choice and I was given Chicago... Lol
I have made my peace with my Peoria assignment, so this just made me chuckle. Confirms my suspicion that campus assignments were mostly arbitrary and were likely decided with a dartboard and printouts of our interview pictures.

I am obviously extremely grateful for having even been accepted here - I know it is very difficult to be accepted to any school, so for that I am truly thankful and appreciative. However, I can't help but think that UIC's admissions committee has been a little underwhelming . They kept postponing the admissions release date, said they would have campus assignments done by mid-November, emphasized that campus placement was based on applicant preference above all, all but guaranteed that the first wave of accepted students would get their first choice, and on and on... None of these things happened. I definitely understand that working admissions is an extremely difficult job and that the members of the admissions staff at UIC are doing their best. But it just seems that there is a lack of transparency, clarity, and preparedness that other committees seem to have. Maybe it is just a very busy year and they are swamped with everything, but this whole process has definitely left a somewhat bitter taste in my mouth to say the least. Again, not trying to come off as ungrateful or entitled by any means, just feel kind of disappointed that this process has been so unclear/vague.

If you wanted Chicago, but got placed in Peoria or Rockford, apply to GMED, UMED and IMED. CEMED is on all three campuses, so there's no chance of you being shifted to Chicago if you get selected for CEMED. You can apply to all three programs and if one of them accepts you, your seat will get shifted to the Chicago campus.

They did this same thing last year and the previous year from what I understand. It’s really ridiculous and makes me not want to go here, but then again these aren’t the physicians and faculty that will training us so I don’t know if I can be too mad.

Beats me, interviewed on 1/12 in Peoria, have yet to hear anything. No change in my status. I feel the darkness of being waitlisted hovering near.
