I don't generally check the portals, so I have no idea, sorry! I don't think that clock thing means anything
 
Anyone know if Vanderbilt is open to updates and if so how to go about submitting them?

Can you send updates pre-secondary? I have started a new volunteering activity that is somewhat worthwhile. I know I'll have a publication in the coming months, but I think I won't have that news for at least one more month (you know, after I'm sure they finally reject me), so I kind of want to send the volunteering at this point (while my total hours are not bad, my recent volunteering is lower than what I was able to do before the recession).
 
Does Vanderbilt send out rejections pre-secondary? I got an email from them on 8/28 that they received my primary (day after my AMCAS was verified), but haven't heard since....

I was just perusing the thread from last year. A few people on this thread have already mentioned pre-secondary rejections, but most came in very late October last year. I have given up all hope at this point, but I will probably send an update and see how it plays out. I'm not keen on having an additional secondary as the semester drags on.

Thanks. My stats aren't high so not really expecting anything. Would be nice if they sent out rejections earlier rather than later though...

For real! My MCAT is above median, but with a GPA < 3.5 I think my chances are somewhere between slim and none. We'll commiserate in the future. I hope sooner rather than later.

My MCAT is similar to yours and my GPA is between 3.5 and 3.6 and I got an automatic secondary. Either I barely scraped through or you're still getting thoroughly reviewed
 
Still no reply for me but I think my MCAT probably got me the ax.

Is the "under review" tab supposed to turn green at some point?

Did anyone get an email telling them they were complete?
 
I think people with II's said that they never received a complete email. I'm not sure about the green tab though

I've been wondering this as well. Complete since mid July and it's still not green for me.
 
Do they send emails if you dont make it past the pre secondary screen? I havent gotten a secondary and I submitted to them over a month ago....

I'm in the same boat... No word yet. I called them earlier this week and appears they are open to updates via email.
Also I think I saw elsewhere on this thread that they send emails if they reject you pre-secondary, but that can take a while.

This is my one of my top 3, granted the ave mcat is rather from from mine. I talked to admissions a decent amount before and after my mcat and said that your score is not a complete deciding factor (obviously). As for the secondaries, they told me they send secondaries out all the way until February (could of possibly been January.) they said they will email you a denial, but they go by mcat score (hence why some got an automatic secondary). The rest under there really high scores go threw continuous screening. Ones that they like will get secondaries, they said no info is good info for now and they will let you know if you don't make it past the secondary screen. Truly hoping for a miracle from here, but who knows. Hahah good luck all!

Just wanted to share because I talked a lot to the admissions about this and my chances. I would say don't worry if you haven't got anything, it certainly isn't bad! They are just score heavy so they prioritize the 515+ (maybe 520+) with like 3.8 gpa and higher. (Which makes sense looking at those CRAZY matriculated stats. Haha I'm still hanging on to my hope for a secondary, cause because I feel they really like you if they send you one and then it comes down to what you have to say!
 
Is it too late to apply now with a 518 mcat but a 3.64 GPA
Deciding if I should expand my school list...
 
Hiya everybody,

Just wanted to give you low-stat people some hope. I got a secondary the very first day in late July, 3.50 cGPA 3.6 sGPA, two MCATs taken within a year of each other (511/510). 2 years out from ugrad.

Still all quiet other than that though 🙁
 
Did any II go out on the 29th? It seemed like they were sending them out every other Friday and then it stopped. Or was that just me making something out of nothing lol

I know 2 people that got IIs this past Friday (so I think this is a real pattern); I also definitely got mine on a Friday awhile ago.
 
Portal updated to say my app is under review. Think I'm going to get a reply soon...

The first two bars were green, and the under review bar was like the ones following it (like the interview, etc bars). It recently changed so there's a clock by "under review" and when you hover over it, a box pops up that tells you they're looking at your app and you'll get an II by email if they want to invite you. That means I'll probably get a reply regarding an II or rejection soon

Nah not necessarily, I've had that since I was complete in early August

uh I'm explaining what happened on my portal page because he asked, not that it happens with everyone's. I didn't have that until recently

Lol I'm just responding to you saying that you're going to hear back soon one way or the other. Not necessarily true because I have had that on my page for nearly 2 months

Oh ok I thought I saw someone say Vanderbilt was one of those schools that had a quick turnaround but maybe I'm mixing that up with another school

I think it means they did do an auto stat screen; my app didn’t make the cut and was moved to the second-tier committee screen.

Sorry - to clarify I know my LM score is high but my gpa is pretty low for top schools
