2019-2020 Nova Southeastern (Allopathic)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I have no idea when I was complete because their portal is confusing, but I think late August. I recently sent them an update. 3.7+ GPA, 517 MCAT

is there a place I can read about more info regarding the preliminary accreditation status and what it means?
Congrats on interview! How did you send an update?

Does anyone know which week they’re currently scheduling interviews for?

Do you guys think it’s too early to send an update to them? My girlfriend is moving down to Florida and I’m dying to hear from them

Does anyone know when applicants who have already interviewed should expect to hear about a decision? I interviewed in mid-September and haven't heard anything other than an email confirming my FAFSA.

+1
Wondering the same thing, interviewed back in early October (after having to re-schedule due to the storm) and they told us that we'd hear back in 2-3 weeks
It's been over 3 weeks now so  I noticed that last year people got their decision as early as October 25th? Maybe the whole re-scheduling thing pushed back their decisions, but at this point I'm not expecting to hear back until late November the earliest

Email! And the subject line just said like "NSU MD Application Decision" or whatever which is usually what I've seen schools put for their waitlist/rejection emails lol so I was bracing for the worst when I opened it but then got a good surprise
Congrats to you!!! Did you fill out the intent form yet?

Have my interview on the 15th! Flying in from cali on the 14th. Anyone down to meet up for dinner? 😀

anyone know when the next round of decisions should be coming out? I don't remember exactly what they said when I interviewed on 10/25 but I feel like they said it would be around this time

Hey everyone, I'm an M1 at this school so my opinions may be a little biased, but I am very confident that this school is preparing me for a solid residency program. I wouldn't worry about risking residency matches because of how new the school is. What matters most in landing a competitive residency is your step 1 scores, which I am very confident that the curriculum is preparing us very well for. NSU has the students take a practice step 1 at the end of the first year and several of the now M2s had already passed it before even starting year two. Our curriculum is accelerated because we take the step earlier than most schools. That being said the coursework is very intense. You'll cover more in the first 12 weeks than you did in all four years of undergrad. Also I saw some concerns about PBL. The benefits you get out of PBL depends on the type of learner you are. The way PBL is structured during the first semester is that you are in a group of 7-8 students where you are provided a case each week that you work together to solve. There is a heavy emphasis on self directed learning throughout PBL, so the faculty facilitator you have plays a very little role in how much you will learn. If you have more questions about the school you can message me. Best of luck to everyone!

Hello everyone! For this school, would you say that your chances for matriculating after getting a II are based on your interview performance, or will your file be reviewed again? Thanks in advanced.

I would say at basically every single school ur file will be reviewed again and yes interview performance will carry decent weight on the final decision

Congrats! What was your impression of the school?
I actually liked it more than I thought I would. The campus is really new looking, and they are almost finished building their teaching hospital. The entire curriculum seems pretty fast paced, and you take your boards in February. The M2 students seemed pretty happy there. Make sure you are happy with PBL though.

interviewed end of october and should've heard back before thanksgiving but still haven't . not sure what is delaying everything

Congrats on the interview and wishing you the best. From previous threads decisions didn't come in order of interview date, so hopefully yours is coming soon.
