2019-2020 Nova Southeastern University Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine (NSU-KPCOM)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Not quite the same boat for me, but possibly useful information:

Submitted Primary and secondary on July 23rd. I received the secondary complete call today (Sep 11... my professors took quite a while to submit LORs and Dorian delayed me even further).

I asked today during the complete phone call regarding the time frame for a possible II. She said that the IIs are generally expected between 4-8 weeks after the secondary completion call.

That probably will not prevent me from checking my Email 20 times a day anyway though.

Anyway, it has only barely been 4 weeks for you, so I'd just keep your fingers crossed 🙂
thank you <3

Thanks for the info! I was kinda in the same boat as you. Secondary submitted on July 21st, but one of the letter was not in until mid Aug, so I got a complete call on Aug 26.

for those who received acceptances, is there a specific time frame to which you must accept?

If you don't hear back from them after 8 weeks, is it safe to assume rejection? Or will they let you know either way?

I can't remember, is there an applicant portal to check the status of your application? If so, where do I find this? Thanks!

Can any current first years comment on not having cadavers? I really liked this school until I heard they wouldn’t be doing this anymore.
Not sure if anyone has mentioned this i haven't looked at the thread in awhile... but they DO still have cadavers. The cadavers are not part of the curriculum but you will still have the option to spend as much time with them as you would like. Thats what they said on interview day.

Talked to a few first years and if you're at the Tampa campus you have to go to a CC or somewhere off campus if you'd like to see pro-sected cadavers. I think all options of working with cadavers is to see them pro-sected only though. A few schools I have been at say this method is nicer in a way.

This is true they have an agreement with the local college. But at the Fort Lauderdale they are right next store. I mean the only reason you would want to dissect if you want to do surgery. And our student leader said u can sign up for that as a summer thing

Also, could anyone explain all the campuses? I continue to hear many campus locations for NSUCOM, and I am getting very confused 🙁. How many DO campuses are there, and which one is the main campus?

Two campuses one in Ft. Lauderdale one over near Tampa. There is no main campus-- to get accreditation from AOA each campus has to offer the exact same resources down to the TV screens (says the Dean). The difference is the Tampa campus is brand new. Essentially what that means is that 1) literally the building to the chairs in the dining hall are brand new just built. What comes with new is growing pains, what those are? we do not know yet. But at the root of it they are the same when it comes to resources, literal machinery and sim centers, and professors. But davie campus (ft lauderdale) is on an undergraduate and graduate campus with more research, a big gymnasium, huge library etc. While the Ft. Lauderdale is stand alone.

Got the call that my app this morning is complete. Now in review mode.
Let the waiting games begin

Thank you so much for the information! I really appreciate it. Your very last sentence, did you mean to say "Tampa is standalone"?

For those who have already been accepted here. I know they said we can wait until December to submit our payment but do we have to make it known that we are interested in keeping the spot till then? I don't want to put my payment down yet but I am very interested in going here still. I just want to make sure my spot is saved until the payment deadline.

Your initial payment reserves your seat in the class, the second payment reserves your seat at the campus you’re in.

And no you have a spot until December, the reason to do it earlier would be to save your spot at the campus of your choosing

They said on my interview day that, this year, campus selection is not dependent on when you submit your second deposit. We apparently selected a campus preference when we submitted our AACOMAS to Nova. This early in the cycle, they said we should definitely be assigned to whichever campus we selected in AACOMAS, but the people interviewing later in the cycle might be assigned based off seat availability.

I put no preference down in my secondary and when I got my acceptance email it had a document for campus choice.

Okay then yeah it seems it's a first-come-first-served, but my point is that it's independent of submitting your second payment (thank goodness!) 🙂

do you guys think that if we put the campus preference on our secondary but now are rethinking it, we still have the option to switch when we get the acceptance email?

Yes one of my friends contacted the school and they changed her.

Essentially the early acceptances will have the opportunity to change as most seats are still open, but as the classes begin to fill up there is going to be less and less opportunity to do so.

Are you sure about this? I also received my acceptance a couple of weeks ago and thought that they said that you aren't guaranteed a spot until you pay the deposit. The first deposit reserves your admission so your spot isn't saved until the deposit is paid. If the class fills up before then (which is unlikely I believe) then you would lose your admission if you didn't pay at least that deposit by December 14th.

You forsure have your spot til the December deadline. Every single person accepted has until their deadline.

Hello! Talldoctor was right about his statement, the second deposit reserves your spot at the campus you were assigned. Yes, you're right that this early in the cycle you'll most likely get the campus you chose in your primary but say you pay the first deposit and not the second and you were originally assigned to Tampa. If Tampa fills up before you pay the second deposit in March, you'll be moved to the Fort Lauderdale campus. The first deposit reserves your admission and the second reserves your campus.

Has anyone received an email with instructions to login to webstar and access outstanding application requirements?

For those of you that have been accepted, where do we send our transcripts to? On my schools system I can only find NSU which I think is only undergrad since they renamed the medical school. I can’t find anything for their osteopathic school

I have already been accepted and they have sent me 2 emails back to back about outsanding applicaiton requirements hahaha I think its generic to everyone doesn't mean you have them.

Hello, I got an interview invite and am trying to decide on a date to schedule it for. The earliest interview date is 10/8, but 10/22 works in better with my work schedule. Do you think it makes a difference if I schedule it a bit later? I don't want to ruin my chances because of rolling admission.

If the difference was a month I wouldn't postpone but its 2 weeks. Besides this school interviews until February. An October interview is still relatively early.

does anyone know what most schools (specifically Nova tho) expect for senior year grades once you've been accepted? like what grade would risk rescinding an admission?
