I received a complete phone call on 6/27 and given the 4-6 weeks window, and I still did not hear anything back. I called, and they said my app was ready for review (so nothing I didn't know). I received an acceptance at another school which I am incredibly grateful for, but NOVA is my #1 DO choice, plus, I really wish I could stay instate 🙁 Was anyone else complete that early and still nothing?? I know I have to patient and blablabla lol but I'm getting a little concerned..

Yep received a complete phone call 7/10 and still no word from them. 🙁

Just because you apply early does not guarantee an early II or even any II. They interview through April and last year even May. It’s a long process you just have to be patient.

Yes, that is true. But based on previous threads, the people getting II later in the cycle(after November) are not the ones who submitted in June/July..

those who are interviewing, what hotel do you guys recommend? Im trynna find one that's relatively inexpensive idk how much the student discount rate covers on the hotel list they provided

They have amazing Airbnb’s around the area. That’s what I went for, and it’s much cheaper than hotels. You should check them out

thank you! which one did you go to if you dont mind me asking?
It is a private room with private entrance and private bathroom in a house with pool, for $95 per night, right in Fort Lauderdale. Excellent value for the price in my opinion. I plan to enjoy the weather while I’m there

There is literally no way to predict when your application will be given a II. Especially comparing it to strangers whose application you know nothing about right ? From a different cycle? If it comes it will come 🙂 in the mean time it’s so awesome u have an acceptance you’re gonna be a doctor!!

do you guys know if we would have classes with the MD class too? Or are DO and MD just completely separate? Im curious to see how a school operates with both MD and DO

Completely separate, in an entirely different building. The DO and dental school will sometimes intersect tho as far as the classroom is concerned

There is literally 0 connection besides the joint white coat.

Anyone know if interviewees should be worried about the hurricane Dorian if you're having an interview soon?

edit: tropical storm Dorian

Does anyone remember when the admissions committee is meeting to vote on the early applicants? Do I remember them saying late august and we would find out early September?

Are suicide hotlines are considered healthcare volunteering? What about shadowing? As otherwise I only have 1 other clinical volunteering and don't want to make that section look too short.

1) Shadowing is an absolute 100 percent No. Shadowing is not volunteering-- you are watching not doing.
2) This is a grey area. Lizzy-m constitutes clinical experience as "LizzyM: "If you can smell the patients, it is a clinical experience"

So to summarize 1 is definitely not and 2 is PUSHING it-- so it will be up to you to decide, but my personal opinion is that it isn't and I feel that many adcoms will feel that way too because you are not directly interacting with a patient.

In this thread many say no, but many also say yes to suicide hotline. is mental health suicide prevention considered clinical experience? GORO says yes so I would argue you would be okay as long as you are directly speaking to patients.

I stayed at the Hampton, it's super close to Nova (around 7-10 mins uber ride) and there was a decent Nova discount plus complimentary breakfast!

Interviews today and it was just odd. No medical related questions at all. Questions about how I like warm weather, my job, and sports, by women. 10 minute ran on football...wtf

Another update - hopefully, if our interviews are cancelled, they can reschedule us for another date in September

so disappointing considering that we've already booked our flights and was so excited for this interview! hoping the hurricane cools down before tuesday.

Lol it’s literally going to be a category 4 hurricane on Tuesday, definitely not cooling down.

Well it looks like it won’t make landfall and they are in the bottom left quadrant, which is the best quadrant to be in if you had this situation.. hopefully, it will pass through on Tuesday and campus will reopen Wednesday and Thursday. They reopened their Puerto Rico campus the day after it passed them.
