Hi all! So I remember feeling terrible about one of my interviews (idk what happened, but my performance for one of them was so bad I remember feeling like I was gonna get rejected immediately after the interview). At this point, I’m expecting a Post-ii rejection, but am interested in sending an update. Do you think the update at this point would have any effect lol?

From what I’ve heard, I think they’ve already made decisions but it definitely wouldn’t hurt!! Only reason to maybe save it is in case of WL, so you can maybe update them and send your LOI at the same time.

I just sent an update. They probably have made decisions, but I figured why not, better than wondering what if I had sent it.

Anyone know how the decisions come out (e-mail, phone call, portal update, etc.) and when?

Does anyone know if they released regular MD at the same time as MD-PhD in the past?

Edit: Looks like last year they release MD-PhD on Feb 21 and MD on March 2

Some current students said they believed it would be mid-March (which is where I heard that from)

March 1 was the date listed on MSAR. In previous years, it looks like decisions have been the first Monday in March.
They only started doing March last year based on past threads. The prior three years before that all came out in February. With Yale released just now maybe Columbia will decide to release soon as well?

WL for MSTP and MD (this was explicitly said in the email) - I have 2 questions regarding this: 1) does Columbia WL all of its non-accepted MSTP interviewees? 2) what is the structure of the WL (tiered/untiered)? The waitlist email also came off as very positive, but I don't want to read too much into it, especially if it's a canned response (they used phrases like "highly regarded," "selected from a very large pool," etc.)

Any change in portal? I keep my phone off at work - have missed these kinds of calls before. Only found out by checking portal!

the stupid car warranty calls will be the death of me today. idk why i was so excited to pick up even though the caller ID said columbus ohio lol.

also, does anyone know how these calls usually work? is it the dean or your interviewers who call? do they do it by alphabetical order? if we don't get one today is that it? do i need to sacrifice my first born? let a girl know

hahaha I would be ready to sacrifice my first born for a call today

Last year it was the interviewers who called those who were accepted on the monday. And then next day I believe people who didn't get the call got the waitlists/rejection emails. Someone correct me if I am wrong though

I changed my phone number since interviewing back in october... Would it be neurotic to email Columbia my new phone number now??

*sweating intensifies*

Maybe we will all get an email that the decision has been delayed for another couple of weeks 🙁

I don't wanna be a negative nelly but I really don't have my hopes up to hear anything before like 3/14. Many other schools have ended up releasing 2+weeks after their previous/target release dates because it's a weird cycle and the Basset email said "early march."

Medical schools are required by AAMC to notify acceptances by March 15th, so there's that at least!

ETA: They have to send acceptances for every seat in the class by March 15. This guidance does not apply for rejections or WLs. Here's the source: Application and Acceptance Protocols - Admission Officers
