Now that they have sent all the IIs, has any international student interviewed at Columbia? (Very disappointed by my alma mater)

just out of curiosity--anyone on this thread from washington heights?
 
I was pretty shook at my interview this week to learn that the g in Vagelos is soft. Been pronouncing it wrong in my head this whole time!

So I just called the admissions office and they confirmed that applications are still being reviewed and interview invites are still going to be sent. I know this conflicts with what’s been posted in this thread but just thought I’d share what I was told
 
Has any international student (non-Canadian) gotten an II at Columbia so far? I know that some schools process internationals last so I am trying to get a sense of whether Columbia is one of these. Sorry I know that I asked this before but I wanted to get an update

I interviewed recently and am pretty sure that they said repeatedly the last day of interviews is 1/29.
 
hmm wondering if it's at all possible they would send some IIs the same week with such short notice? perhaps only a handful... or the staff on the phone was misinformed idk
 
I wish I had emailed so that I could send the exact response I got, but I feel like emailing after calling would be too much lmao. If anyone is curious and wants to confirm, an email would maybe make things clearer
 
interviewed here too and also got 1/29 as last interview date. could be wrong though

I’m just gonna assume that the person who responded was misinformed and that there are no more IIs given what the current students have said in this thread and to not have false hopes 🙁 Sorry if what I posted was anxiety inducing for anyone I was just really confused by the phone call given what I had read here

Columbia could still be figuring out more dates, so the interview date list they gave to current students was incomplete! This is especially likely because they have been letting people know about IIs before the dates are even available. Hold out hope 🙂
 
What I'm wondering is if they would tell us about acceptances AND wl/r by the end of Jan. Looking at the older columbia threads, I couldn't find anybody actually on here mentioning their acceptances in Jan. Maybe it's that they give out acceptances at the end of Jan and then rejections/waitlists with the regular cycle in march?

I think that they only contact you if you're accepted. Everyone else is on some sort of waitlist and I don't believe they ever send out rejections. It's sort of confusing but that's what I remember from my interview day.

Edit: I mean I guess if you get rejected from the main program you can probably assume you're rejected from Bassett too

Agreed, I'd doubt they'd let most of the week go by without reaching out. but SAME! It would shave a lot of stress off of the week lol

Yeah, I remember them saying they tell people in January.

It’s possible that since so few people are accepted, none of them are going to announce the A on SDN. But I’m staying optimistic for now.

On another note, everyone buy some $GME if you can

received II with a <3.6. Columbia is particularly known for taking a holistic approach and rewarding re-invention.... I know the feeling of not receiving a II at a school you are really interested in going to, but NO ONE gets IIs to all the schools they apply! keep your head up and focus on the schools that have seen how great you are 🙂
 
Does anyone know when we can expect decisions for candidates that interviewed?

Idk if it helps but their yield is ~50% so I dont think they necesasrily assume most people who get accepted would go.
