I finally got my secondary! Question for those that have already written their essay: is this one page single spaced or one page double spaced? Since they don't specify, I'm concerned about whether I'm writing too much/ not enough.

I did one page single spaced but i remember i think some saying they did double spaced

I submitted mine single-spaced.

Since they didn't bother going into specifics, neither should we. I did single spaced, normal font, normal margins, and of course one solid page.
*normal font being 11 pt

What is the school's screening process for secondaries? Does anyone know? I just read holistic so is it primarily on our PS, EC and how well we fit their mission? Or are there cut strict offs for MCAT / GPA? Also, does anyone know if they apply the "32 hour" rule heavily like some schools do for applications? My undergrad gpa is terrible but my master's GPA that I actually did at an osteopathic school is competitive!

Nice! good luck to you! I think receiving a secondary from here is definitely a good sign, at least a little bit.
Thank you, friend!! I know they have a bias towards the Northwest region and I am in Michigan, so I hope you are right!! 🙂 This was definitely needed after my rejection from Arizona... can't win them all over, though!

I'm a believer that you'll end up where you are supposed to be. So keep on fighting, you'll get to that special place

My letters of recommendations are finally in!! Would it be okay if I take my MCAT in September? (No effect on application?)

Hey guys!! Trying to submit my secondary....I have tried different browsers and nothing is working. It just keeps redirecting me back to my application and also the spots are filled out. Also, I called the school to see if they were having any current issues with submissions and they said, "no."
The woman I talked to suggested turning on my pop up blocker and I tried that too. Any other suggestions?

Are you able to pay the fee at least?

I paid the fee and emailed my essay to admission in PDF

No, it is not even letting me pass the generic questions to get to pay the fee. *heavy sighing* lol

Edit: I am an idiot sandwich.... I had a hyphen in a phone number.... I am through!!! THANK YOU!!!! 🙂

They might have a bias towards students in the PNW area but don't let that discourage you! I am from Minnesota and I have friends in my class from all over the US so you definitely have a shot! If they sent you a secondary, their interest was already peaked! You got this!

Right there with you. Would’ve loved AZ but there’s a better place out there for us

Does anyone know if they screen hard for secondaries? I am an OOS nowhere near Washington and not sure if I have a good chance of getting accepted. 3.7 gpa with 503 mcat...

If you look around or check their website I think the average OOS (out of region, in the NW case) acceptance or matriculation (obviously these are very different things) is around 30%. Which isn't terrible compared to some schools.

stats if you don't mind? Since you are OOS lol
Haha no problem. Nontrad from California (apparently the worst state for applying to med school lol) so I’m surprised I got this far in the process. Aproximately 3.5 cum, 3.3 sgpa [From a top UC], 3.9 msgpa, 500-503 MCAT (An improved score from retake), lots of research (1 upcoming abstract presentation international conference), paid clinical experience (4000+), years of community service volunteering, no ties to the northwest (although i would be happy living there, because i love nature, hiking, and cooler weather. Shoot, maybe i should have mentioned that in my secondary...).

I doubt I will get further in the process though, way more competitive applicants out there than me. RIP.

Don’t put yourself down! You sound really well rounded

I wouldn't discount the experience that paid clinical hours, community service, and research have given you! Those are JUST as valuable as metrics, if not more so in determining a good fit between you and your future school. Congrats on the secondary, and good luck on your apps, from a fellow nature-lovin' nontrad applicant from CA 🙂

I appreciate the kind words on this thread! I guess I'm just using an internal defense mechanism to protect my emotions if I don't get an interview or an acceptance haha. Good luck as well, hope it goes well for ya'll!

Good luck!! Like they said, don't put yourself down!! You seem like a GREAT applicant 🙂

Love to hear it!!! Thank you so much!! 🙂
I was able to spend a proper amount of time on my responses, too!! Towards the beginning, I was working on so many secondaries at once that I feel I could have done better if they had filtered in a bit more slowly. I am really excited about this school though! 🙂

I applied to AZ because my grandparents live out there and were dying for me to attend the school closest to them lol. They are good people 🙂
We will end up where we belong though!! Best of luck to you this cycle!! 🙂

Hi! Does anybody has been having trouble with the fee waiver? I wrote the admissions office to know if I will get a refund after submitting the secondary application but I have not received any news. What should I do? I have the AACOMAS fee assistance, oos, urm and I cannot afford to expend a lot of money.

What's up with the "Service Portal" site? It says I have 3 days until my LORs are "due" and that they are "Pending". I heard something about this much earlier in the thread but don't recall specifics... No issues on my end, just wondering whats up with that.

Anyone seeing/experiencing the same thing?

It's just the fact that they have to manually mark it. PNWU is delayed because of COVID, classes starting recently for their first years, and the fact that there are more DO applicants than previous years. Just be patient and they'll get it done 🙂

Did you guys get any confirmation email after submitting your secondary?

How long did it take to get that?

I got my secondary submission confirmation email next business day. Then file complete/under review email 2 weeks later. When did you submit your secondary?

It took over a month to get the “under review” status
Is the complete email and under review email two separate emails? I got a single email saying I am complete and under review which will take 4-6 weeks. Should I be expecting another email as a follow up?

Hey everyone, sorry if this was addressed before. I submitted my secondary on Sept. 3 with the payment but have not received any sort of confirmation email, and I'm just wondering if there was an error on my end. I'm not even sure my secondary essay file went through. Should I wait for a few weeks until I get a confirmation from them? I have emailed them but haven't received a reply from them yet..

It's possible there was an error, as I received two emails as soon as I submitted (confirmation and self-service account) within a day. Check your spam and your credit/debit card account to see if the payment went through. I would possibly give them a call just to see if they received your stuff to make sure. Maybe give them a day or two, as labor day weekend possibly pushed their timeline even more.
