Oh wow! Ugh. My score was a 497 so I think I might retake in January to send them an update. You were accepted with a 502 this cycle?
Last cycle so I’ll be starting 2021. I deferred cause I needed an ochem class and cause of COVID (parents are essential workers with preexisting conditions that put them at risk)

II wooohoo! I was complete 8/28, LM 67. Had checked the portal maybe an hour before the email and it said "no decision" so never went to committee. Now it just says interview. Soonest date was in Dec.
Congrats! That's so strange that some people go to committee, and others go from "no decision" straight to "interview." I wonder what is in their algorithm that determines this.

I submitted my primary 9/26 and still no secondary... i reached to admissions to see whats up because their website says they dont have a min gpa/mcat..

I have an assumption that "committee" people may not be from the PNW region.. just a feeling tho. I may be completely wrong!

Yeah no prob. My MCAT is 501, GPA is a 3.99 so that might be my saving grace. I come from a medically underserved area though so they may be weighing that too.

I can only dream of a 3.99. I had a decent last two years of my BA but it was in Liberal Arts. My science GPA is 3.15. But my mcat is a 504. I got an interview here too. There’s hope for us all.

@theprofesser Even though there are some that OOS that go directly to "interview", it seems that most OOS do not. We are OOS and my son went to "committee" this week. We have lots of ties to WA since most of our family lives there (daughter, sister & sister-in-law with their families, parents) and my wife and I were both born there. However, NONE of that constitutes "strong ties" as outlined by most colleges. This prevented him from applying to UW and WSU (which may not be a bad thing because he is strongly considering DO even if he gets an MD acceptance. His stats are sGPA - 3.48 cGPA - 3.56 (final semester would boost both w/grad in December) MCAT - 512 (128, 127, 128, 129) MD Shadowing - 36 hrs + LOR DO Shadowing - 0. Hoping his status goes to "Interview"! Good luck to you and all others waiting for news!

Nice! Complete date? And did you ever go to Committee? I’m hoping to solve a mystery.
I was complete on September 9th. I don’t believe I ever went to committee. I checked the portal on 10/13 and it said no decision and then when I checked on 10/15 it said interview. Got the email 10/16. It may have gone to committee, but I never saw it switch.

Are there any current students reading this thread? If so, could you guys talk about your experience at the school; what a general day looks like in terms of mandatory meetings vs self-study, research opportunities, and the general vibe that students and teachers have?

Though i've gotten an acceptance from western comp-nw but PNWU is higher on my list, anybody heard back from the interview on the 8th?

hey do they require casper for your application to be complete and reviewed by the committee?

So I’ll be honest, with COVID it’s a little different. The first 1/2 of the year last year was in person, and we probably had to be on campus 4 days a week on average. The lectures are mostly in-person, though they’re also recorded (I almost never went to lecture because I have some attention issues). The required lectures/labs are clearly delineated in the syllabus and calendar, and those were the only times you were required to be on campus. With COVID, they can’t fully enforce required lectures, but they do wait to post the lecture until after a quiz if it was required attendance. Just like in person last year, our required labs/lectures are usually interactive and helpful in reinforcing concepts that will be on the test, so I’d say they’re worth it even if they weren’t mandatory. I study about 9 hours a day and take most weekends easy. I don’t notice an increase or decrease in my study time compared to when we were in person. They general vibe is great in my opinion. We have instructors who are willing to go out of their way to talk with you and even with COVID, make an honest attempt to touch base and offer assistance if needed. And the students are also very supportive of each other in my experience. As for research opportunities, they’re definitely out there. The research Im interested in all has an inter-personal aspect so it can’t easily be conducted during COVID, but people definitely have taken part in research previously so I’d say it’s out there.

After you guys emailed to schedule your interview did you ever get a confirmation email from Hope?

I did. I think maybe it was a day or two later that they confirmed I was able to pick up an earlier date on their waitlist and then once I said that day would work Hope sent me a confirmation email that had general details of the schedule, etc but that exact email didn't have the date in it - just that I was scheduled for the date I chose.

Only if invited for an interview you are required to have Casper.

I went through my email after reading the thread and found the following from my original Supplemental Invitation: " Please note if invited to interview, PNWU-COM requires applicants to have a 2020-21 CASPer cycle score."

Joining you in this mystery as a friend of mine has been in committee for a few weeks now and I never was on committee. My personal theory is that theyre similar to AZCOM and CCOM as in they have GPA and MCAT thresholds that dictate a hold (ie committee in this case) that they can pull from later in the cycle, auto hitting the GPA and MCAT benchmarks means that you’ll be interviewed immediately (straight from no decision).

My other theory is similar to UW in that you have 2 reviewers and if both say yes, you go to interview straight from no decision. If you have one of the reviewers who are hesitant/says no, then you are put into committee for a tiebreaker by a third reviewer. This one is harder since one cannot simply prove it unless they speak to admissions committees directly.
If I feel like yoloing the days of my interview, I may ask someone if they’re open to sharing the algorithm (but unlikely)

Submitted today!! I called about residency preferences and they said they have 28% OOS.

I am a VA resident but living in California (shoutout to all the military spouses applying, we hate residency requirements lol). She said they would see I live in CA and that would add a "point" to my application.
Hello fellow milspouse! Also a current VA resident but have lived in Alaska and had most of my experiences there.

Is anyone here interviewing tomorrow? If so, did you get any emails for a link or anything? My interview was rescheduled for tomorrow just recently however I have not yet received anything. Thanks!

Same, I got the email on Friday from Hope stating that she'd send us more details this week but I haven't received anything yet. I plan to (politely) check in this afternoon to see if there was an error in something being delivered however I expect we will get the details today 🙂
