2020-2021 Touro University Nevada College of Osteopathic Medicine (Henderson, NV) TUNCOM

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Kinda late, but I also thought the interview went great and am thoroughly impressed with the school. Hope we all get accepted!
Any tips on how best to prepare? Is it open or closed file? Traditional? Thanks! 🙂

Can anyone with II's shed light on their MCAT score? I know touros prefer higher MCATs

The interview is not open file, they don’t have access to ur stats and they don’t come up. Personally my MCAT is 514 but my cGPA is 3.1
I’m thinking newyorkgirl meant in order to get the interview invite, not what the interviewers can see during the interview

I am not sure that’s true, they asked me if I did research even though I have a very extensive research background documented in my application and secondary.

Maybe they just wanted you to explain it?

Hey everyone, I submitted my secondary mid August and I received an email confirming submission. I'm wondering if I should be expecting an email confirming my application is complete? I have everything submitted to them but I haven't heard anything since submitting my secondary application, which has been 4 weeks now..

Does anyone know how Touro’s class size is? Previous years it’s been 135 but got the approval to increase it in 2017 but couldn’t see what it was increased to.

Current OMS-I at Touro NV just lurking. My class has 178 students.

I have the same question. Submitted my secondary a little over two weeks ago and received the initial submission email

Awesome thanks. How are you liking the school?
Honestly, as an OMS-I, I love it and I'm so grateful to be here. The faculty are supportive, my classmates are smart but relaxed. It feels like a big team and like everyone is there to help you do your best. And it's perched just outside of Las Vegas so you get the convenience and reasonable housing prices of a quiet suburb with all the benefits of an international tourist destination just 15 mins away.

Tbh though even faculty and administration will admit rotation sites are a bit limited. The match rate is high, 98-100% for the past handful of years, but you don't see a lots of graduates match into competitive specialties or specialties outside of the region. (I wish I'd known to ask about this sort of thing while I was applying/interviewing.)

There's also been some talk on the DO board the 3rd years were having trouble getting rotations during the beginning of this school year with COVID. I haven't heard about directly from any of the OMS-IIIs and IVs but you should read into that too.

Is it the student's responsibility to find their own rotations within those areas or does the school schedule them?

Faculty schedules them but compared to most other cities, there aren't a lot of hospitals. There are two nearby MD schools who need rotations too. There are times for elective rotations at the end of 3rd and for almost all of 4th year. For those, I'm not sure whether we pick off a list, schedule independently or are welcome to do either.

Thanks for the honest information about the school!

I have the same question. Submitted my secondary a little over two weeks ago and received the initial submission email
I too submitted my secondary over a month ago (8/03) and haven't heard anything other than the "Submission Email" confirming my submission that same day. Are we supposed to get additional emails when we are under review?

Yes please read above!

I submitted early September and got the submission email and haven't heard from them since. I got an under review from Touro Vallejo a couple days after receiving the submission email

It still took about 60 days between my secondary submission and my II email even though it was super early on so don't worry yet! And that was with CASPer already done, LORs in, and MCAT already on file.

edit for more info

Final review today! How long until you typically hear a decision after this stage?

For anyone thats already interviewed how was the interview day as a whole and the interview itself? I have my interview coming up on 09/22
