2024-2025 Creighton

Hoping for some advice for my (possibly silly) situation! I was waitlisted at Creighton months ago (it's my dream school, I'm crossing my fingers and toes right now). I'm pretty overweight, and obviously there have been times where I was judged for it. I may just be letting it all get to my head but I've been wondering... is it required to go to the alternate status advising hours to review my app? If not, is it still worth it? Will it look bad if I don't go??

I know, I know, it's incredibly late, but I've put on weight since my app photo was taken. I've convinced myself that whatever advice they could give about my app just isn't worth the risk of an admissions member seeing me for what I am now, given the direct influence it could have on my application. My paranoia about risking my app is so strong that I've been shutting it out of my mind until now. Am I overthinking it? I'm definitely planning to send an update and Letter of Intent in April to show my interest. I just want to maximize my chances of getting off of the waitlist as much as possible; I really, REALLY like this school.

TL;DR:
Do you guys think the advising hours for alternate status are required/worth it, especially for a (considerably) fluffy gal?

I wouldn’t say that the alternate office hours are required. They are helpful though in getting some cycle feedback and finding out when/what you should update the committee about. Unless you start spouting crazy things I don’t see how it would hurt you regardless of your weight

You should absolutely attend the hours. I was also waitlisted and got in because I listened to what they wanted. I really doubt they would care about the weight thingy, it has nothing to do with your ability as a candidate!

I think going to the advising hours is totally worth it! For them to tell you the reason you got waitlisted and what to work on is invaluable in my opinion, especially if it’s your dream school. I do not think your changed appearance will hurt your chances at all. Plus, I don’t think it’s a someone on the committee that meets with you, I think whoever it is just reads what the committee said you could improve on. I could be wrong though.

Would you be willing to say a few words about what they were looking for?

Does anyone who paid the deposit know how long it takes for the "! $100 dollar class deposit" notification to go away in the status of required materials? I paid it 24 hours ago, but it is still there.

I also still have it and paid on monday.

does anyone know when financial aid packages will be released? I submitted my FAFSA and other documents about a month ago and all i see in the award tab is "No information is available for this aid year."

Thank you message disappeared. But I can’t see an RSVP in the portal. Does this mean a waitlist or rejection? I applied to Omaha campus.

Somewhat random, but did you by chance apply to Creighton for undergrad? I did, and when I first open NEST financial aid, it says that same message but it's for 2020-2021, which is when I would have been a freshman had I attended in undergrad. In the top right there should be a button to go to the 2025-2026 year with the financial aid offer. I got my aid package just a few days after submitting FAFSA but did not receive an email or anything about it. If this isn't the case for you, I would think it would be okay to email their financial aid office to ask!

Thank you message just went away. Applied Phoenix campus. No invite seen yet. Interviewed 2/17

Is it an admitted students day invite if you click into it? Got that this morning as well!

Yeah it’s an RSVP for admitted students day in April. Are we in??

Did anyone else who interviewed 02/24 have their thank you message disappear? It feels like so far it's been 02/17 folks??

Thank you message was gone today, interviewed 2/17. It seems if your thank you message went away on Thursday you're more likely to get in than if your message went away on Friday. Not sure if this is true but it's what I've been noticing, would love to be wrong though.

Did anyone get accepted that didn’t have the RSVP in their portal first?

Does anyone know if Creighton will send out scholarships or whether they are done disbursing them?

Any 02/24 interviewees hear back yet? My thank you message disappeared on Friday.

Is the app review zoom link not working for anyone else? I can't seem to join.

Just attended the advising session. Overall very straight forward and helpful. But I was a bit confused because they told me to update on a couple of activities that I did send updates on right after my interview a month ago. I'm not sure if its because they didn't read the update letters when I went to committee or they just want more, was wondering if someone had a similar experience. They also said one of my activities had good hours but wanted more hours from another activity when i had over 4 times the hours for the latter. But really appreciate they even took the time to give feedback and will for sure be using it!

Hey guys, stopped by to say I got a scholarship earlier from Creighton! I'm very grateful and hope this will give hope to those who have not heard back yet regarding Financials. 🙂

Hello! I’m wondering if someone can help me out in choosing between UColorado, UCentral Florida, and Creighton! I want to match in CA. I have a heavy research background but know Creighton is probably the “lowest ranked” of these schools. Any insight is appreciated!

disclaimer: A at Creighton

May get better insight posting on “X v Y” thread, but I would narrow the decision to UCF and UColorado. Creighton is ranked below both significantly. UColorado would probably put you in a better position to match in CA but if OOS it’s a big price tage. If UCF is your IS and significantly cheaper, you should consider it. UCF had some quality CA matches.

Tldr Colorado if price tag is not too scary.
