2024-2025 Drexel

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Out of curiosity, did anyone else have an interviewer here that just seemed completely uninterested? Left that interview after 15 minutes feeling like there was no hope for an A, even though I went in prepared
My interviewer barely looked at me and didn't give me any response (emotional or verbal) to anything I said. I felt like I was talking to myself the whole time and left my interview feeling absolutely horrible. Ended up with an A so hopefully this gives you a bit of hope.

I felt the opposite, thought my interview went great, extremely conversational. Ended up being deferred in under 4 weeks so I guess I was wrong? Just goes to show you have no idea how you'll be presented to the committee.

Do you think their admissions office is even meeting this week or are they still on vacay?

Anybody have any advice for this interview?

Have an answer to general medical school interview questions.
Review the SDN interview page for Drexel (felt was very accurate).
Have a few stories prepared about community service.
Have a good number of questions for your interviewer.
Be comfortable.
Smile.

Anyone have any insight into how many seats are available? Received an interview today and was just trying to gauge my chances.

High odds of eventually getting an A, even if you're waitlisted. Their yield has dropped due to losing a teaching hospital. I think it is still a great school though. I know many people who chose here over other MD's!

Is the lack of a teaching hospital a major issue?

Has anyone emailed Drexel after the 8-10 week decision time they gave? they said you can email them if you still havent heard, but I'm wondering if people have done that and if they were successful?

It might be wise to wait a little more since the holidays disrupt schedules and cause delays.

I just asked for an update since they told me I should email them around 8-10 weeks. very discouraged.
what did u say in the email? it’s only been 8 weeks for me so i’m not doing anything till like the end of jan but

also no deferral is not a waitlist u can still get in before

I honestly think they are waiting for a large batch and then sending them, but they could already have your decision ready.

Aw man, I’m sorry to hear that 🙁 personally though, it seems like a lot of people have been getting deferred so I wouldn’t be discouraged!! They might be going that route instead of accepting a bunch of people off the jump.

It's very off-putting how long they take to get back to applicants post-interview and the lack of transparency about the timeline :/

Welcome to the club. Many of us here got deffered, but after going through the rabbit holes (SDNs from previous years), I feel a little better. However, it seems like it will be a long waiting game.

haven’t seen as many deferrals as this year from previous years but the waiting game is so difficult. i’ve been deferred at 3 other schools

idk they told us 7-10 weeks at the interview and that holidays might affect things. it’s been that for most people here

We have affiliated teaching hospitals, as that is quite literally a LCME requirement. Just not one central one in Philly. We have several year long sites in Pennsylvania (and one each in CA, Jersey, and Maryland) that you would spend third year at. Or you could rotate around different hospitals. It is a lottery system (unless you're a West Reading student, which then you are automatically at Tower Health for 3rd year) that is ran halfway through M2. You'll know where you are placed months before needing to move, if necessary.

It said in the email that the certiphi background check is sent to you if either you’ve been waitlisted or accepted to any amcas school

Hmm is Drexel waitlisting yet? Or just deferrals. I also got a background check but idk why they would send that before an acceptance
