2024-2025 Drexel

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I don't understand how they're so disorganized! I get that they receive many applications, but have to set up a better system.

It might be a staffing shortage.

if campus assignments come out today or sometime soon, if we are accepted after they are released will we be accepted for a specific campus only or will it be a lottery again later?

does drexel like/take LOI? and, if so, can i send them anytime after i interviewed or is it something i would only send if i get deferred/waitlisted?

Does anybody know if after you are accepted, if the required decision within 21 days is just to hold your seat or if it is a binding decision?

It's just to hold your seat. A binding decision isn't required for any MD school until April 30th (even then it's not actually binding, you just have to narrow it down to one. But you can withdraw after that if you get in from a different school's waitlist)

On April 30th, I only need to decide "Plan to Enroll" to one school instead of "Commit to Enroll" to one school, right?

Does anyone have the email to send thank you letters post II? I remember them mentioning an email but lost the tab where I had written it down. Also do we just like write both thank you letters (faculty + student) on a pdf and attach it to the email?

Just the gneral admissions email iirc, and it's up to you for how many letters you write but I would recommend separating them to 2 pdfs.

FWIW their response time for incoming students are pretty fast and reliable, seems just the admission email that's on the slower side.

You could also just upload them to your applicant portal

So messed up. What are they "holding" us all for anyway, ransom? No way are there more interviews ahead.

if i wanted to send a letter of intent to the school, would uploading it in my portal be enough, or should i also email the office?

Is a deferral the same thing as a waitlist here? I interviewed and they deferred me. Wondering exactly how that works.

Essentially yes, the official WL will be formed later and all deferred applicants will be placed on it (if we do not receive an A before then).

What are everyone's thoughts on the West Reading campus? From my interview, it sounded like the two campuses would be better placed in terms of convenience of rotations being done at Tower Health's Reading Hospital. This year was the first graduating class from Reading and apparently they did pretty well for themselves (reported in my interview session).

Reading is a fine campus and the biggest benefit is having Tower Health right there. You wouldn't need to go through the lottery process that Philly students have to go through to get your site (I don't think Reading students can do the lottery, if that is something you did want to do, ie if you wanted to rotate at Kaiser). I'm a Philly student, but from what I've heard from friends over there, they like the school itself (you also have access to all the same professors over at Philly via Zoom), but have a bit of trouble finding things to do over there in Reading itself. Maybe someone at the Reading campus can pitch in!

can someone go over the choose your med school protocols for drexel

hi do any current students know how drexel handles deferral requests? Am thinking of deferring an A to work a research coordinator position for one more year
